ANATOMY
Alongside being physically larger, Quaketerras have longer necks and legs than their sister tribes and a more upright posture. Their bodies are much more suited for walking on land than traveling the rivers and seas. Their hind legs are typically shorter than their front legs. Powerful forelimbs and large, blunt claws allow Quaketerras to dig with ease. A short, fat tail covered in spiky scutes stores fat and provides defense.
Horns
Fire
Quaketerras are capable of breathing fire. They can produce a stream of flame like Riverterras and the Pyrrhian tribes and also a powerful blast of fire, strong enough to unbalance a dragon.
Flight
Quake Terrawings do not fly often. Quaketerras are able to take to the air quickly and can soar for brief times, but their stamina is poor and decreases with age. Senior Quaketerras are often grounded as their wings become too small to lift their heavy bodies.
Colors
Quaketerras typically come in earthy browns and sandy yellows. Their skin and scales can be very pale or quite dark, and are usually solid-colored or have little pattern. Quaketerras are the least vibrant of the Terrawings, and their scales tend to be desaturated. Eyes can be any color. Some Quaketerras will paint their wings, faces, and scales vibrant colors for self-expression, celebration, or to indicate wealth and high status.
Common Colors: brown, beige, orange, yellow, pink, gray, white
Uncommon Colors: green, lime, black
Rare Colors: blue, purple
Common Traits
Ridged Belly: The belly scales of Quaketerras can end in sharp points or protrude outwards slightly.
Boulder Plating: A Quaketerra's dorsal plates can get quite large, especially in older dragons, giving the appearance of a rock pile.
Uncommon Traits
Nose Horn: Some Quaketerras will have a horn protruding from the top of their beak. The size and shape of this horn varies between individuals.
Upturned Horns: A Quaketerra's horns will point upwards.
Half-tailed: A Quaketerra's tail will be extra short, but just as spiky!
Long-tailed: A Quaketerra's tail will be longer. These tails are often thinner and taper to a point, unlike Bayterra or Riverterra tails.
Rare Traits
Multiple Horns: Extra sets of horns growing from the head.
Diet
Quake Terrawings are herbivorous unlike their sister tribes. However, their diet is primarily made of cacti, leaves, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. In times of hardship, a Quaketerra is still capable of digesting meat and will hunt or scavenge for food. Quaketerras have sharp beaks and thick tongues to tolerate cactus spines, and a robust digestive system to handle a plant's defensive compounds.
Range
Quake Terrawings live in open, arid regions of western Pyrrhia. These dragons call the desert, scrubland, grassland, mountains, and sparse forest home. Some travel east of the Claws of the Clouds Mountains, but the land is often too humid for their comfort. Quaketerras also avoid the frigid peaks in the northern mountains and the Ice Kingdom.

SOCIETY
Naming
Quaketerra parents will name their offspring after any minerals, rock formations, animal life, or vegetation significant to the area around their nest, as homage to where their child was born. A Quaketerran can also be named after strength, resilience, longevity, or survival traits. Quaketerra names can have simple one-word or compound two-word names. Compound names will often include a component representing the individual's physical capabilities
- Birch, Quartzsnap
Homes
Quaketerras are nomads who travel alone, with immediate family, or with friends. These dragons are comfortable sleeping under the stars and do not stick to one place for too long. In adverse weather, Quaketerras will seek out caves, canyons, dig their own burrows, or sniff out a previous Quaketerra's burrow. Being nomadic, Quaketerras must carry everything with them, so it is common to see a Quaketerra with various bags and pouches draped across their neck, shoulders, and tail. During their travels, Quaketerras often collect memorable trinkets and accessories to remember where they have been; everything they carry has a story behind it. With the establishment of the Quake Kingdom, some Quaketerras have bought land in the kingdom for a permanent home, but will still travel outside the Kingdom to satisfy their instinct.
Nesting
The only time a Quaketerra will settle down is when nesting. Quaketerras will either burrow or find a cave to incubate a clutch of 1-6 eggs. Parents will remain at the den until the hatchlings are old enough to walk or be carried. Pairs will share the responsibilities for raising young, and may either stay together and nest again or go their separate ways once the young have grown.
Since the establishment of the Quake Kingdom, many pairs have moved in to raise their hatchlings in safety, only to move back to their homes outside of the Kingdom once the offspring are deemed strong enough to survive outside of it.
THE QUAKE KINGDOM
Central City
The Quaketerra Kingdom is located in the southwestern Claws of the Clouds Mountains. The surrounding landscape is hot, arid steppe and scrubland with red soil and sparse vegetation. Much of the land is bare rock and cliffs that the city has been carved into. The city is divided into three layers, with lower layers larger and more densely populated than higher layers. The lowest layer is massive and busy, full of merchant tents and travelers looking to trade. The middle layer is mostly public space, with a few gardens, greenhouses, and housing for higher-class individuals. Dug into the cliffs alongside these platforms are winding trails and housing, with larger, wealthier homes located higher up. Quaketerra homes are built with brick and sandstone that matches the surrounding rock, with the majority of the home being dug into the rock. Many dragons will decorate with colorful banners, paints, and personal gardens.
The uppermost layer overlooks the entire Quake Kingdom, with stunning views of the desert. The Royal Palace is located here alongside the wealthiest of Quaketerras. The palace has a small, heavily-guarded doorway leading into a maze of tunnels carved into the mountain.Holidays and Traditions
