Voiyajer Lore

Voiyajers are powerful celestial human-like beings born of stardust. When enough stardust gathers a Voiyajer will be born into creation where they  will remain among the stars until the Age of Comets. The Age of Comets  is when a Voiyajer falls from the sky during dusk or dawn to a new world.  They are required to live in the new world for a brief period of time where they decide if they wish to stay or return to the stars until the next Age of Comets begins. The age for each Voiyajer differs for the  individual as well as if they have returned to the stars before or not.  It is not uncommon for older Voiyajers to fall during the Age of Comets.  Some constantly return to the stars, finding no world to rival the beauty of the universe. If a Voiyajer leaves a world to return to the stars, they do have the ability to return to that world again at any time as they will be linked to it.

Black Hole Voiyajers, otherwise known as the Reapers, are the only natural  cause of death for a Voiyajer. They keep the balance among the stars and  when a Voiyajer reaches a certain age that is considered "their time"  (only reapers know this and are unable to tell a Voiyajer of their  predetermined time) they will come to reap their soul. When a soul is  reaped it is returned to the stars where it goes through a rebirth  process. The soul is then reborn into a new Voiyajer who does not remember  their previous life. It is an endless cycle unless if something were to  happen to the soul that damages it beyond the point of being able to be  reborn as a Voiyager. If that happens, a new Reaper is born. Reapers  commonly live the longest among Voiyajers and it is unheard of for them to  die. For a Reaper to reap another is considered a great honor and they  will mentor the new Reaper once it is born.

Culture

Voiyajers are not solitary creatures by nature. They live in communities among the stars and are widespread even to the most outer reaches of space. Even if a Voiyajer were to travel to another community they might often travel in a group versus being alone. It is common to see larger gatherings of Voiyajers and communities joining to become one as the Age of Comets approaches. They prepare younger Voiyagers for their journey to the planets as well as say their farewells. The elder Voiyagers are respected and feared, hardly being challenged in a  fight. With age comes great power and they can harm most Voiyagers with  little effort. Many Voiyagers upon their older years become more peaceful,  fully understanding the gift they have and dare not abuse it. It is  when a Voiyager is younger they are eager to show off their abilities and  talents to the universe. They also are unable to control their abilities  well which can cause problems until they train and learn to master  them.

Voiyagers will duel each other as a way to learn, teach and keep their skills sharp. Females do not go to the extremes male Voiyager will during a fight, often stopping when the other gets hurt or tired. Males often will challenge females in their odd way of showing off their strength to impress them. If they want to duel with another male it is usually to prove who is superior or to test their limits. When two males fight, at times it can be to the death. When a male fights a female, they are a lot more aware of the female's well-being, holding back their power to the best of their ability. When they aren't fighting they will often indulge in their markets to see what goodies other Voiyagers have collected from planets. It is customary for a Voiyager upon returning from their journey to another planet to bring at least one thing back with them, but many often take more.

Voiyagers enjoy a wide range of fashion and some will go so far as to emulate fashions they find on other worlds. There is a common theme among their clothing which is a moon or star somewhere on their person. This is due to their love for where they originate. Even if a Voiyager chooses to remain on a planet they will always be caught gazing up at the night sky. They find peace, joy and a sense of purpose when they gaze upon the stars.

Male Voiyagers

While Voiyagers are primarily a female race, this doesn't mean there aren't males. Male Voiyagers are born at a much infrequent rate than females due to the amount of stardust required for one to be born. While all Voiyagers are powerful beings, males are on another level. The amount of stardust required to birth a male Voiyager creates such an enormous wealth of power, some say it is the fates that keep the balance by limiting their numbers. Male Voiyagers often pass away at an early age, sometimes before the Age of Comets, due to meeting their end in battle. Male Voiyagers are constant thrill seekers and enjoy challenging other Voiyagers or species to duels. They also are captured by other species and sometimes met their end at the hands of experiments. While male Voiyagers are possible, it is more common to see a male Black Hole Voiyager or Reaper.

Diet

Being space-dwelling individuals, Voiyagers eat asteroids and bits of interstellar dust. They also can live off of the magentic energy released from stars if they are unable to find suitable food to eat. If they were to land and stay on a planet they could very well survive off of igneous rocks and other types of stones as well as take in some nutrients from solar light (suns). Due to their diet their stomach acid is extremely acidic which aids them in the digestion of stones and rocks. Voiyagers often shy away from other food types but some are brave enough to experiment and have taken a liking to bones, scales and horns. Voiyagers are able to drink water as well!

Injury, Illness and Death

It is uncommon to see an ill Voiyager due to their hyperactive immune system. Even when exposed to new diseases or illnesses, their immune system quickly formulates the anti-bodies needed to beat the disease. Many diseases die off before a Voiyager begins to display any symptoms due to the extreme internal temperatures of their bodies. Just like the temperature of a sun or star, so too is the blood of a Voiyager. It helps them stay warm in the deep recesses of space where other species would freeze in an instant.

When a Voiyager is injured via an open wound, their blood will often cauterize the wound which helps prevent infection or major blood loss. However, if they have a large open wound (Larger than a hand's width) their body struggles to complete this cauterizing ability and if left untreated they could bleed out. If a Voiyager suffers from a broken limb, it would need to be set and splinted just as a human's would and given time to heal.

Death is not something unknown to Voiyagers. While they are usually long lived individuals they can die from the battles they seek or from things like starvation. A good majority of Voiyagers die from old age when their organs start to fail (it is a slow process that is not painful to the Voiyager. If one were to reach this stage there is a high likelihood they would pass away in their sleep). However, genetics do play a role and if a Voiyager is born of less stardust than normal they would have a shorter lifespan than one with an average amount or higher. If a Voiyager dies, a Black Hole Voiyager (Reaper) will come to reap their soul and return them to stardust. Even if the cause is unnatural (wounds from battle, experiments, etc), a Reaper will still come. There is a belief that you can tell a Voiyager's time is near if the stardust on their bodies no longer shimmers and starts to fade away.
