Life Cycle

Most emberkits hatch from eggs, but some are born live. A young emberkit is simply called a kit, no matter it's animal species.

For the first 6 months, kits have no flames. Instead, they have black areas filled with sparks. After 6 months, a kit is taken to Mt. Rye during Rye Festival to sleep inside the magic cave. When they wake up, they have bright fire and sparks where it once was black. The kit is now mature and may start their own life, or live with their parents.

As they get older, the flames on an emberkit start to get dimmer and less vibrant. Gradually, the flames start to vanish completely, and the emberkit once again has the black area with sparks. The sparks eventually fade out, until only one is left. This means the emberkit will soon die. Right before an emberkit dies, the flames ignite a final time into a tremendous ball of fire. When the fire vanishes, a crystal form of the dead emberkit is left. Instead of burial, all deceased emberkits are taken to a place where they loved and sit in honor. For example, the first emberkit's crystal stands on a cliff peak looking over the island.
