MILES SCHEFFER

Because Miles is mute, it's hard to truly know what he's thinking unless you can read his facial expressions or he's feeling particularily expressive. Otherwise, he typically keeps that blank stare. He's really smart in terms of peripheral vision and finding his way through places, especially while using his eminence, however he's not too smart when it comes to social interractions or confrontation and relies on others to speak for him, whether it be mimicing a voice of another person or forcing a coworker to talk for him in a literal sense. He's rather childish and prefers to goof off than accept the reality that he's one of the members of a detective organization, often times using humor as a way to cope or pass time during work hours. Even if he is a little annoying despite the lack of speaking he does, he's incredibly kind and isn't afraid to lend a hand to the organization whenever they need him, always happy to help those in need.

After witnessing the sudden death of Miles' parents during a home invasion when he was a child, he refused to speak a word. Whether it be shock, fear, or a personal choice, nobody truly knows why he decided to be mute even after all these years. Fortunately, his older brother was old enough to afford a place for the two of them at the time, away from their old family home, away from the memories created with their parents, and took Miles in as if it were his own son. Even after the years passed, it was really hard on Miles. He pondered how someone could be so cruel, how they could be so selfish as to take a person's life just for a quick buck.

As Miles grew up and began his journey through high school, the killer of his parents was finally identified and publicized. When it was revealed that this person was suspected to be a member of a mafia organization, something snapped in Miles' mind. Of course, why wouldn't it be someone who was brainwashed into killing to keep their own life, a life so selfish in nature; kill or be killed. Miles hated that more than anything. If anything, he almost wished there was some sort of humanity lying in the person who took his parents from them, as Miles would feel a little more inclined to sympathize with them if they had an ulterior motive, a reason to do what they did. Perhaps they needed the money for their own family or the death was some sort of instinctual defense mechanism if his parents struck first. However, a member of the mafia? His stomach churned, how sick one must be to commit something so disgusting made him nauseous, how the mafia has gotten away with this far too many times, and for the first time in a long time, he spoke.

"I want to be a detective," He said suddenly, voice hoarse as if he had been screaming. It hurt to talk after not doing so for so long, but he had to. He wanted his brother to hear him, to understand that this was important to Miles. This is what he wanted to do. "I want to eliminate the mafia."
