Bring your secrets, bring your scars
Bring your glory, all you are
Bring your daylight, bring your dark
Share your silence
And unpack your heart.

In his classroom, no one is an enemy to each other. In fact, consider him your friend.
And in his eyes, no one deserves to succumb to pain or loss. The kids, especially, don't need to live through the suffering. His classroom is not only a place for learning, but it's a sanctuary if they need it. Because no one is going to tell them that they're flawed.

All the children understand that if there is something wrong, Mr. R will especially be there to listen. He's not so much a man of wisdom, but kids always deserve to have an answer to anything. And they're on the verge of tears - Chanse needs to do all he can to make them smile again.

He's gone through enough tears. Most definitely long enough for him to try to throw his life away because of it.
But now that he's found someone - he's refused to give up his life or soul. His body and his spirit.

All of it has been given to him and their family.

How long has it been since he's finally been able to smile like this?

About

Personality

Chanse is bright, cheery and always optimistic. He may not be young, it seems like he's maintained all of that youthful energy, especially with the kids. He never tends to fail in showing a bright smile towards everyone and everything before he starts the day. He's a debonair and charming individual, who wouldn't give up in trying to raise one's morals. He does his best to make friends with almost everyone. Only sometimes he acts like a child, only to benefit to keep his friends, or his class happy. He is often at the neutral side of certain positions he's in, whether it would be between good or evil or between two of his best friends at an argument. Chanse is the gentleman that does his best to keep things at ease even if it get himself hurt.

Ransford once struggled to recover what he had lost during his young adult years. And since then, he's succumbed to constantly digging himself of pit filled with despair. Despite how many friends he had, and the amount of support and love he's received from his family, he almost never felt like it was enough. Not since his first fiance passed. He was even fall deeper after Elois's disappearance.
But being with Elliot, it took them patience before he was on his way to recovering. Soon enough, Chanse achieved the happiness he's finally wanted. His smiles are more apparent and it's filled with joy. And even his laughter; filled with love to a point where it was contagious.

Backstory

Chanse was a splendid young child and everyone believed that a future was bright for him. And he was close to having such a perfect life. He was to marry a beautiful wife, have their first child together.

But it all went downhill. Everything turned around right when he was going to achieve it.

He loses her. His fiance and their child who was still in his mother's belly. In a car accident and he didn't find that out until a day later.
Her death was a reason why he decided to give up.

Not until Hope saved him. Not until his close friends saved him. He was trying so hard from trying to kill himself.
Yet even when he thought he was going to get that second chance, it failed. Especially with Elois, who has now been entirely forgotten.

Now, when he thought it was finally going to be over and no one would stop him...

Elliot was there.

Chanse didn't expect that being with him a second time would change his world. He worked relentlessly to sweep Ransford off his feet. He may have no felt the connection in the start, but with proper time and care with their relationship...

He found it.

Elliot was the one.

Trivia

  • Chanse is still an elementary teacher.
    > He used to teach in a small trailer, but after Hope left his position as a teacher to become an agent, he was given Hope's large classroom.

    > Of course, all the teachers come by his classroom for his even better coffee machine.
  • Married to Elliot Baxter
    > At first he was concerned for his health and behavior after the death of his best friend, but he though this would be a good moment to try and create a better relationship with him by being a lover.
    > At first it didn't work out, but their relationship turned better after the second chance.
  • He had been living in the house he's always been living with (a large home that he shared with just him and Hope). But he had been living alone because Hope had been busy with his duties in the Prodigal.
    > He moved out when he got together with Elliot.
    > His old home would be handed to his four little brothers.
  • Chanse likes to be the big spoon, but he doesn't want to discourage Elliot and they'll switch.
  • It's quite obvious, but he still loves children. He has three surrogate children with Elliot, and then adopted 2 more young gals.
  • Still drinks coffee every single day.
    > Without at least one cup, you can hear a bit of irritation in his voice.
  • His laughing is contagious, or that's what others say about it.
  • He knows how to swim now, although he's now developed a fear of water. Just a little bit.
    > It takes him at least 10 minutes in the shallow part of the pool before he can venture into the deep end of the pool.
  • A cautious, safe driver.
    > Road rage still ensues, if not worse lmao

Relationships

Elliot  [ Husband ]

He was more concerned for Elliot after Emery's death. And he even offered his own love and affection to help cure whatever cravings he desired back then. It may not have worked out back then, but his encounter with Baxter came in much stronger. Now Elliot is Chanse's object of love and affection, and he's glad to call him his husband (jokingly sometimes calls him his wife). He calls him everyday when they're at work, he takes him out to dates. And despite that Elliot is experienced and a culinary master, Ransford always wants to cook for him.
Chanse is as supportive as any good husband can be, but he also wants to be a good father. When Elliot gets into a spat (the usual quiet ones) with any of their children, he's always trying to meet in the middle to ease any tensions.

Abacus  [ Eldest Son ]

Their first surrogate child. It's taken them years of careful planning and care, but the journey was worth it after the birth of Abe. Unfortunately, he feels like Abe's very lackadaisical attitude would be his to blame, considering the countless times his doting fatherly instincts kicked in. Meaning that he's to blame for spoiling their firstborn child.

Regardless, Chanse is more than proud of his kid the more he grew. And now he's old enough to live on his own, Chanse has always been worried for his good health and safety. He always wants to visit Abacus whenever he gets the chance, but his son always responds to "not bother" or go out of his way to visit him.

Gunner[ Second Son ]

Gunner definitely hides his affiliation to the Prodigal away from Chanse. Mostly because his closest friend, Hope, is a veteran Administration Member and longtime private agent... Ransford understands the horrors of what Gunner could possibly go through. And if Chanse were to find out, he'd do all of his powers to stop his son from taking any part of that group any longer. Thankfully, Papa Chanse doesn't know about it, and Elliot for sure has helped Gunner hide it away.
Otherwise Gunner has been an ace all throughout his school year. Taught well by both Chanse and Elliot, Gunner is most definitely the child who apparently has the drive to reach high.

Chase  [ Daughter ]

Chanse likes to baby her daughter and Chanse appears to be the most doting to her out of all the children. Chase looks rather annoyed with his doting actions but she doesn't do anything about it. He doesn't worry about Chase's personal life and he knows that she's popular among the ladies in her school.

But when she reached college, she somewhat hides her personal life away from her family. Chanse, especially, is curious... or more likely concerned as to why.

Hope  [ Best Friend ]

Hope has been Chanse's best friend since they were children and it's never changed. Despite that they don't see eachother everyday, he doesn't think of Hope any less.
He is still concerned about his safety since he was hospitalized a few years ago, but everytime Hope is in town and he visits Chanse, the both of them are still happy and the same as ever. Sometimes they're practically inseparable in certain days and either Elliot or Grandfather would have to pull them away if they needed to depart.
Otherwise, if Chanse needed someone to talk to and neither his kids or Elliot isn't there... Baron would typically be a call away... that is if he isn't busy with his line of work.

Max  [ Adopted Son ]

Chanse was the first to suggest to take both Max and his little sister in as their own children. Not only because he wanted more children (and getting more surrogate children was already hard enough for them), but the both of them had been watching over them since they were little babies!
He was most especially sad when their father disappeared soon after the death of Luka, but he dreams of a bright future for Max and Emmie.
Max is a shy young man but everything he does always has good intentions. Though he may be awkward, it wasn't very different from Elliot when he was in high school. He leaves him alone to do this own thing but Chanse always tries to give him any advice when it comes to his social life.

Emmie  [ Adopted Daughter ]

Chanse loves her as much as he does with the rest of his children. She has so much energy, that it's pretty much spread to Chanse - especially when he's feeling a bit.. lazy. He laughs whenever Emmie tries to pump up Elliot, but he simply can't keep up with her energy!

Like Max, he typically lets Emmie do her own thing. Though, Chanse is always the first to act whenever Emmie needs help with something. As a protective and doting father, Ransford wants to make sure Emmie is safe, and most importantly happy. He doesn't want Emmie to think too much into Emmie and Max's parents and feel discouraged about it so he tries his best to redirect that kind of worry to something else.
And while she does her thing, Chanse personally requests Hope and the rest of the Prodigal to find the whereabouts of their father...
