Luka was born to be part of the Acerbi family someday, unfortunately promised as a member in exchange for financial support when his mother was left with none. Despite that, Luka had a good childhood, a loving mother, and a life closely involved with the Acerbi family--particularly their middle child. Luka and Jamie grew up together, and by the time Luka had to start doing mafia work, it wasn't much issue, because he and Jamie were there together. Really, Luka enjoyed the work. Despite his appearance, he could more than hold his own, and he was observant and smart enough to know exactly how to get under people's skins. He took to his place in the mafia naturally, flourishing at every new task recieved; no matter how gruesome.

When Jamie was suddenly promoted to underboss, Luka's route shifted as well--coming to be seen as something like Jamie's keeper among the older members, Luka became Jamie's consigliere, someone to guide him and keep him on the right track with all his new responsibilities. It wasn't quite as much fun as getting his hands dirty, but Luka's priorities have always been centered on staying close to Jamie. If that means a life of offering advice and doing deskwork, Luka is happy enough to do it for his best friend's sake.

Complicated is a good word to summarize Luka. Knowing that he would end up in the mafia one day, his mother wanted to make sure he was tough, and tried to teach him about death and power when he was young--and though she just wanted to make sure her son would survive in a world where her husband hadn't, Luka's perception of emotions ended up warped, viewing emotion as weakness. He isn't without feelings, but he does his absolute best to remain stoic and hide his emotions, as well as to detach from them when necessary. He takes responsibility very seriously, and views both taking care of Jamie and doing his work for the family as his biggest priorities; however, catering to Jamie's emotions isn't necessarily the same as keeping him alive, and he tends to be cold to Jamie when he feels the situation dictates it.

He is very serious and logical, and finds himself easily frustrated by stupidity, and people who goof around. He doesn't like social outings and doesn't see much point in maintaining friendships, especially with coworkers--of course, short of Jamie. He doesn't see the point in 'having fun,' and most of Jamie's ideas of fun, such as clubbing, partying, drinking, all seem stupid and pointless to him; more trouble than they are worth, for certain. Despite how troublesome Jamie can be, he always remains loyal to him, and tries to lead him the right way--or clean up his messes when he can't manage to.

Luka is very controlled in his emotions; the only one he can't always keep in check is his anger, when he's been pushed and pushed. He isn't really one to cry, and even exciting things tend to only earn a small smile from him. Though he views close bonds and connections as weaknesses as well, Luka won't sacrifice his with Jamie for anything short of Jamie's life--which is why, despite being in love with him, he won't act on his feelings, aware of the way the mafia views homosexuality. He feels that as long as he can be Jamie's best friend, that can be enough for him; as long as he can keep turning down Jamie's advances. However, he still tends to be very possessive of him, envious of the people Jamie fools around with, especially when they're men, and even envious of Jamie's other friends who provide him things Luka can't seem to.

• Luka is very cleanly, and showers twice a day. It's important both to his hygiene and his routine, and he showers in the morning as well as before going to sleep--if he's going out to clubs, he'll shower a third time as well.

Luka has albinism, common in rabbits, which makes his hair white, his skin pale, and his eyes blue. Though he wears a lot of things due to fashion, his glasses are entirely for the sake of his vision, being near-sighted--and even then, still quite blurry. He isn't particularly tall, but his ears make up for it somewhat.He always wears his necklace, a small anchor on a string. It was a gift from Jamie that he never takes off, always worn proudly on top of his clothing, or tucked under his shirt when absolutely necessary. His ears are pierced (by Jamie), but he doesn't have any other piercings. He didn't even necessarily want the ear piercings; he just didn't want Jamie and Enzo to share something he didn't.

Luka dresses mostly in pastel, and tends to dress very femininely, which doesn't always go over so well considering his career. His favorite color is lilac, and he tends to wear light purples most of all. He favors long, loose shirts that go past his hips--in all seasons; his fair skin means that he tries to keep as much of it covered from the sun as possible. Typically, he opts for leggings over pants, finding them more comfortable. If he's leaving the house during the day, he always wears some kind of cap to cover his sensitive eyes from the sunlight. Gloves help him with tactile things, since his grip always seems too shaky on its own, and he prefers the comfort and wearability of sneakers, though he still opts for the cutest sneakers possible.

Luka's feminity doesn't end at the clothes he wears on the outside; he also wears women's underwear under his clothes, usually preferring things that are lacy and white--he finds the purity connotation ironic.

When it's hot inside, or when he's going out at night, Luka sometimes wears croptops and shorts--however, if there's a chance his skin will see the sun, he won't. He always wears sunscreen over any skin he can't cover, and tends to always smell of it.

Luka exists in present day Sicily, Italy, in an relatively small town by the seashore. The larger city nearby is divided between three mafias: Acerbi: the Heartless, De Rege: the Kings, and Simondini: the Victorious. i dont know what else to type............

► Home ◄

The Merlinis live in a rather small property in the complex the Acerbis own, not too far from their house, but not too close, either. It's a modest, two-story home--with a conjoined kitchen and living room, as well as a master bedroom on the first floor, and bedroom on the second floor, with a bathroom at the top of the stairs. There's a small back garden where Siena grows flowers and vegetables, and keeps chickens, and where Jamie and Luka used to play. The house is rather homey and rustic, and as Siena is always cooking something in the kitchen, it always smells warm and like good food. Luka's room is directed to fit his aesthetic, mostly neat--and with organized chaos where things are a little more messy.

History

Luka never had a chance to meet his father; as a member of the Acerbi family, the dangers of the life style caught up with his father, Giovanni, and he was badly injured on a job. He managed to make his way back to home to Siena, but there wasn't anything that she could do for him in time. After Giovanni passed on, Siena decided that she had to make sure their child, all she had left of her boyfriend, was strong enough to look after himself. She didn't waste much time trying to accomplish that; Vanni had always been soft-hearted for a mafia man, and though Siena wasn't without compassion, she knew that it could be risky, as far as being a made man went; so Siena didn't waste much time. By the time he was three, Siena taught him about life and death, helping to show him how to kill chickens.

Eventually, Aronne turned up with his sick little brother, Giacomo, and being the maternal woman she was, Siena happily offered to watch over him and nurse his fever back down. From then on, Siena was always offering to babysit Giacomo; 'Momo,' and he and Luka became good friends. Siena took to him like he was part of the family, and Luka found himself a best friend, the two even going as far as to get pretend-married in the back garden. Their friendship as children was always like that; innocent and devoted, as it was just the two of them.

And it was always just the two of them, even when Momo, who started going by Jamie, because that sounded cooler than Momo, dropped out of school after primary school, and even when they both started to do soldier work for the mafia. Luka had spent a lot of time preparing for the inevitable:  reading books about serial killers and learning from them, and watching his superiors closely, particularly admiring Jamie's older brother, Aronne. Despite his young age, Luka wasn't afraid to make his first kill, murdering someone who refused to pay their debt time and time again. It wasn't particularly personal, but it wasn't particularly hard either, and Luka got a bit of a taste for it.

► TL;DR◄

• Luka's father passes away during Siena's pregnancy; the Acerbis offer to give her financial support as long as Luka joins the family when of age.

	► Siena Merlini [ mother ] Luka's mother is incredibly important to him; all his life, she's worked hard to raise him and take good care of him. He appreciates everything that his mother has done for Jamie as well, happy to see that Jamie sees his mother as family as well. He wants to do his best to look after his mother the way she's always looked after him, prioritizing her safety above everyone else's. Though he's quiet about his emotions, he tells his mother everything, even agonizing over his feelings for Jamie with her.
	► Giacomo "Jamie" Acerbi [ best & childhood friend, crush ] No one is more important to Luka than Jamie. Luka has known Jamie since they were children, and though Luka often treats him with a cool, disinterested attitude, there are really no others he would ever choose over Jamie--even when the shark walks in on him in the middle of sex with another guy. Though he isn't comfortable admitting as much to himself and certainly not to Jamie, Luka is very much in love with him, but would prefer to express his care for Jamie as his best friend and consigliere.
	► Klarissa Acerbi [ close friend ] As Jamie's little sister, Luka has grown up with Klarissa much like how he grew up with Jamie, although Klarissa was needed and welcomed at her own home a bit more often than her older brother. Although Luka likes to pretend he doesn't, he definitely has a soft spot for Klarissa, often going out of his way to make sure she's well and help comfort her when she needs it. He doesn't mind her tagging along when he does things with Jamie, either, especially snce the two of them have some similar interests.
	► Vincenzo "Enzo" Caruso [ antipathy ] It's no secret that Luka isn't fond of Enzo, even if he isn't proud of the reasons why. The truth of the matter is that it started back when Enzo and Jamie first met--a time when Luka was really Jamie's only friend, and even at 13, he was possessive of Jamie and unwilling to share. After all the years, it's become clear that Enzo isn't going anywhere. In general, Luka finds his personality obnoxious and his intelligence, or lack thereof, frustrating, but he wouldn't discourage Jamie from his friendship--he knows how much Enzo means to Jamie.
	► Chiara Palladino [ antipathy ] Chiara and Luka realistically could have been decent friends--the two have a fair amount of similar interests, and likewise, have to deal with similarly annoying men all the time. However, because Luka's relationship with Enzo is so poor, his relationship with Chiara suffers as well, as she tends to stick up for him a bit more vehemently than Jamie does. She is one of the few people who is very good at pushing his buttons, and also isn't afraid of him in the least--and it frustrates him to noend to have to deal with the way she speaks to him.

► He dislikes alcohol because he likes feeling in control and knowing that he is of the right mind, retaining a teetoral lifestyle as best as he can. His higher-ups often pressure him into drinking with them, but if he can avoid it, he won't drink. He finds drunk people especially obnoxious, feeling secondhand embarrassment for the goofy way people act when drunk.

Loosely based on fantasy settings like RE:Zero and Fire Emblem. 

Luka was born to Siena, a peasant woman who lives in a local town near the palace. Through Siena, a maid in the castle, Luka meets a young prince just a year older than him:  Jamie, the prince who's never had any other friends and immediately latched onto Luka.

Despite the vast difference in class and wealth, as children, Luka keeps Jamie occupied and out of the king's hair, and that's worth letting him stay around. As they get older, Luka's intelligence is recognized, and he'd seen as a good influence and helpful advisor of sorts to the prince. Eventually, his talent as a mage is realized, and he goes away for a year to train. The year apart is challenging, and when he returns, Jamie confesses his feelings for him; however, due to their status difference, Luka views the relationship as too dangerous.

Eventually, Luka's willpower cracks--and the two begin an affair, protected by Jamie's loyal guards, Enzo and Bambi. But eventually, the king decides Jamie is too much trouble again, and he's betrothed to a princess, Chiara. Desperate to keep a connection, Jamie urges Luka to perform a binding ritual long since forbidden, a binding that forces them to share each others pain for the rest of their lives. Despite knowing the punishment for doing this--especially to a prince--is likely eternal imprisonment, Luka does it, both for Jamie's sake, and his own. If he loses Jamie forever, at least he can still feel him in some way.
