Takara Kaneko is a popular idol known as TAKAR☆. While on stage, he is the epitome of the perfect idol. He sparkles on stage and is loved deeply by his ever growing fanbase. Behind the scenes, Takara is the complete opposite of his idol persona, being much more reserved and even intimidating to some. On an even deeper level, Takara is very awkward and has trouble expressing his emotions.
Takara’s parents are a retired idol and popular actor. From a young age, he was expected to take part in many activities and make sure his performance in everything was more than adequate. Despite their high expectations, Takara’s parents did dote on him; however, he felt strange about it. During this time, Takara grew resentful for having to keep up appearances and feeling like his efforts were never enough.
As his career progressed, Takara discovered his love for songwriting. He was allowed to take part in writing a song with his duet partner for a special live event. Takara found himself genuinely enjoying himself for the first time as an idol. With a push from his friends and his boyfriend, Sena, Takara feels ready to take on whatever challenge as he navigates his feelings about his life, relationships, and career.
personality;
Takara is very professional. He understands his role and that he needs to do it well. On stage, he is the perfect, shining idol. He is, TAKAR☆, everyone's treasure! While it is quite different from how he actually is, Takara feels like he must do things well regardless of how he feels about it. Takara constantly deals with trying to process conflicting feelings and thought processes by himself. It leads to his tendency to jump to cynical conclusions but still want to hold onto hope. Although he does it begrudgingly, Takara would rather power through difficult situations and see if maybe it will work out for him.
Takara is incredibly kind hearted and very considerate. While he may be a little cold at first, his soft side becomes very prominent once one gets to know him. When he has deemed someone important to him, Takara will be sure to show it to them whenever he can. Takara always tries to be honest about his feelings, he is just bad at conveying them. He spends a lot of time thinking and processing how he feels about events that have happened that day, conversations he’s had, and the people he interacts with on a regular basis. Even if the truth is hard, he accepts it when given enough time to think.
Even though he seems cool, collected, and suave, Takara is actually quite clumsy when it comes to his real relationships. He gets embarrassed easily, doesn’t voice his true feelings, and somehow finds a way to make situations worse for himself. After a very chaotic and confusing situation between himself and Sena, Takara promised himself that he would try to speak more freely about his feelings without hesitation. He’s still clumsy but he is really trying to convey how he honestly feels about the people who are important to him.

story;
Childhood
Takara was raised for fame. His parents, being successful celebrities, pushed him to follow the same path. Instead of being able to go out and play with the other neighborhood children, Takara was busy with his intensive music and academic lessons. Even though he wanted to go out, Takara was happy to comply with his parents’ wishes as he noticed it made them happy whenever he did well. He loved his parents and wanted to make them happy. Takara’s parents also did dote on him quite a bit during this time. They spoiled him for birthdays and holidays and rewarded him generously when he did well with his lessons. His parents had high expectations for him and he tried his best to meet, if not exceed those expectations.
Teen Years
When he started high school, Takara continued to work hard to fit into his parents' ideal image of him. He was an active student and balanced his preparatory lessons for his debut. He had good grades and excelled in athletics and his mandatory music lessons. He was popular at school and it was clear to all that Takara was born to fulfill an important role.
Early Career
As time went on and his parents’ expectations grew higher and higher, Takara found himself feeling resentful towards them. At the same time, he felt guilty for feeling that way. He was aware of the position of privilege he was in and understood that his parents did love him but he couldn’t help but feel like it was still never enough. He lacked passion and felt that he was simply playing the role he was meant to.
When Takara was 18, he debuted as "TAKAR☆'' an idol with a princely image. To celebrate, his parents set him up in a fully furnished apartment. After years of feeling like he was never good enough, Takara irrationally convinced himself that his parents' support was surface level to look good in the public eye, Takara began to grow resentful. However, he also did not want to blame his parents. In fact, Takara felt guilty for feeling this way. Soon after debuting, the idol life proved to drain Takara and he became increasingly more irritable. His conflicting feelings mixed with his exhaustion from the idol life make him begin to hate being an idol. To cope with his anger, Takara decides to make frequent visits to the arcade to beat all the high scores in the rhythm games. He's surprisingly good at rhythm and arcade games in general but uses an alias when entering his name to keep it a secret.
Soon after Takara released his debut single, his manager thought it would be a good idea to collaborate with someone with a similar fanbase. They reached out to popular Instagram model and vlogger, Sena Yukimura, because they felt that his fanbase would also like Takara. Not only did it help boost Takara's sales but the pair became somewhat of a hot topic afterwards. After filming, Takara told Sena he'd be up for future collabs and from then on, the two began to spend more time together both professionally and for personal reasons.
Finding His Passion
Not too long ago, his agency hosted a special live event that matched idols under their label to collaborate. This event was also the first time Takara was allowed to take part in writing his own song. Takara was paired up with Ezra Caelum, another popular idol. The two had worked together previously and would often appear on the same TV shows together. At the time, the two were trying to sort out their feelings pertaining to their personal relationships and ended up writing a song about that. During the process, Takara realized how fun songwriting was. For the first time since becoming an idol, he felt like he was enjoying himself. The live concert was a success and Takara left the stage feeling giddy and satisfied. From that day on, Takara began trying his hand at writing more songs in his free time. He doesn’t share them often but hopes that one day he can share them with his audience.
Present Day
Takara has been going to the arcade less in part because he now spends a lot of his free time writing songs or spending time with Sena. He still enjoys the arcade and still holds many of the games’ number 1 high score ranking but would rather go with his friends and win prizes from the crane games for them.
He and Sena have officially started dating. They have to keep their relationship a secret and can’t go out on dates like a regular couple, but they’re happy. Takara is more than happy it worked out and is determined to make their relationship last. The pair spend whatever time they have together having stay at home dates and preparing dinner together every few days or so.
Takara finally feels like he is beginning to understand what he wants from his relationships with people, he begins to wonder what’s next in his career. Ever since the collaborative live show event, Takara has been trying to make more of his own music. He has made a few songs since then and finally feels like he is putting his long years of piano lessons to good use. While he hasn’t really thought too deeply about his next steps, he hopes that one day his career will have more to do with putting his own feelings into his music.
skills;
Arcade Games
Takara is surprisingly good at arcade games. Aside from rhythm games, he's especially good at crane games. He doesn't care much for the prizes but likes winning them for his friends.
Songwriting
Takara has a knack for songwriting. He was never able to try it during the earlier days of his idol career but has since discovered how much fun it is. Maybe all those years of various music lessons paid off...
Cooking
He enjoys cooking quite a bit. His meals were always prepared for him growing up but since moving into his own apartment, he's discovered how much fun it can be. He especially likes it when he's cooking for someone else.
Focused
Takara can pick up most things fairly quickly. He tends to get immersed in whatever he's doing and can go at it for hours at a time. It really only applies to things he already has somewhat of an interest in though…
relationships;
One of Takara's best friends and now boyfriend. After many instances of miscommunication, Takara and Sena finally started dating. At first, Takara decided to keep his feelings a secret, wanting to treasure Sena properly. However, Takara's attempts to be mindful does the opposite. After airing his woes with Leo, Takara decides to take the chance and just tell Sena his feelings from his heart. While admittedly, not much has changed, they couldn’t be happier. Currently, their main focus is keeping their relationship under wraps. They may face many obstacles in the future, but now they’re a team and are ready to face them together.
Leo (friend)
Takara first met Leo in high school. The two were known around campus as the popular boys despite never hanging out before then. They ran into each other on the roof during lunch one day while trying to get away from the hustle and bustle and the latest gossip. Leo had practically walked in on Takara sulking by himself and Takara was very flustered. He tried to make up for it but Leo didn’t seem to be phased by the gap in Takara’s personality. From then on, Leo adamantly tried to befriend Takara and soon, the two became inseparable. Takara really treasures his friendship with Leo. Even now, they enjoy going out to eat and playing games at the arcade together.
Ezra (coworker, friend)
TBA
Fallon (friend)
Originally, Takara just viewed him as "an important person to Sena who likes to tease him". However, that begins to change when Takara seeks Fallon out one night to ask for advice. From then on, he sees Fallon in a different light. Takara respects Fallon's abilities to be a comforting presence to all customers regardless of who they are and is even a little jealous of the older kit's social skills. Nowadays, it's common for Takara to drop by Aegis by himself just to ask Fallon for updates on his life.
Regan (acquaintance)
Takara heard quite a bit about Regan before ever meeting him in person through Sena. He was happy to see Sena opening up and getting closer to other people. However after he and Sena started dating, Takara mistook some of Regan's actions as overly flirtatious and was concerned that Regan might be aiming for Sena. So when they were finally able to meet, Takara was distant and cold. It only made matters worse when Takara began thinking that Regan was more ideal of a person than he was. Realizing that Takara was being judgemental and unfair, he reached out to Regan in an attempt to sort out any of his grievances. Regan welcomed the much needed chat and they were able to talk properly. They were able to get a fresh start and are currently trying to get to know each other.
