Amongst the denizens of Splatsville, the city of Chaos, an Octoling of Order resides. Despite being against the idea of moving at first, it has been nothing but good for him. Moving broke him out of his bubble of focus as well as force him to make the hardest decision of his young life. The city of chaos grows steadily around him and he grows along with it, finding himself stronger and better with every passing day.

He's focused, determined, and stubborn to a fault - but you'll be hard pressed to find him on an off day.

Story

Early Life

Orion didn't grow up in the Octarian army, but in a small farming town near the coast with his mother. He had been born without permission and his parents refused to give him up, resulting in the two hatching a plan to escape and live outside of Octo Valley with their child. The plan went south quickly, with one of his parents being captured while the other barely managed to escape with him.

His mother...was crushed with the reality of living in this foreign world without her partner and a small child. When he was older, she would tell him of how difficult it had been - an Octoling on the surface so long ago was strange indeed - and how much she missed his other mother, whom they never saw again. Despite the hardship, Orion's first memories were warm ones in a tiny house with the love of his mother.

She had happened upon a farming town and the generosity of the people there let her work on a farm and live on the land with her newborn. She learned Inkling quickly and also learned her new work just as quickly, soon going from just a farm-hand to more of a regular staple on the farm. They had a good life - simple, warm, and surrounded by a supportive, small community. Orion helped on the farm once he was old enough and greatly enjoyed tending to the crops. It was a good learning experience and he was more than a little upset when his mother pressed for him to begin schooling. Despite his protests, a private teacher was hired for him and he began to drink up the knowledge taught to him - Inkling came naturally, more so than Octarian, which he knew little of at this stage of his life. The teacher praised him and his want to learn more, to do better, continued to grow.

Being taught one-on-one, Orion never had a question not answered and never had a lesson he didn't understand. His mother was proud of him, continuing to work to ensure his education was paid for, though as he grew older, his thoughts began to wander to the places his teacher would speak of in lessons. There was a city, a massive city, full of Inklings and other species, where they fought in turf wars and challenged their skills.

He couldn't help but dream of this place, wondering what it felt like to join a turf war match, wondering what it felt like to be in such a bustling, busy city.

It was in his teens that trouble had occurred in Inkopolis - the Great Zapfish had been stolen - though to their small town, it was more of a headline than anything spoken of as it caused concern, but they could do nothing to assist.

Only two years later when it occurred again however, did Orion's teacher tell him that Octolings were beginning to appear in high numbers in Inkopolis. This struck him in surprise and on his 18th birthday, he asked his mother for permission to leave home - to go to the city and learn and live there. They argued over it at first, though the next morning his mother held him close and gave him permission.

Inkopolis

The train tickets were a bit expensive and it was with great apprehension and excitement that he left the town he had always known. He'd be lying if he said he didn't cry, watching his mother on the platform grow smaller and smaller as the train gained speed. The journey was a bit long and once he arrived, it was far more overwhelming than he had expected.

Inkopolis took a lot of getting used to - he shortly after arriving met Delaney and after getting to know eachother better, the two became close friends and roommates, making ends-meet easily between their skills. Delaney met Alex a bit later and the two started dating, meaning Orion found himself more and more often out in Inkopolis plaza for the evenings to give the two privacy. He loved Inkopolis, loved splatfests, and adored Marina - she was such an inspiration, so intelligent and skilled. When the final splatfest occurred, his household was split - he on Order and Delaney and her partner on Chaos. There were...stupid arguments, things he regretted saying for sure, and by the end of it he was looking for a new apartment.

Chaos had won and with such, a new city was saying to be the best, hypest place in the land - Splatsville. He was already out of a place, needing a new apartment and while a city of chaos seemed against everything he stood for, he wanted out of Inkopolis. Chaos had won, he should just move on and accept that.

Current Life

Orion lives in one of the apartments overlooking the back area of the plaza, where all the delicious aromas of the cooking stalls hit his windows at night. He has apologized to Delaney for his stupidity since, but has happily adjusted to living in Splatsville. He enjoys the music, the energy, the people around him- who says there can't be some order to the chaos here?
