A quartz soldier who gave up on violence and a quartz soldier who wishes to keep fighting but can't. This is the interest dynamic connecting them yet also driving apart.
They usually meet in the rehabilitation department anytime Citrine goes through a bad seizure, needs a checkup or generally feels a bit down. The presence of another quartz makes Citri feel more at home, preventing her from avoiding these visits all together.
Besides physical treatment, Albi also creates a safe space where Citri can briefly vent her other troubles or get comforting hugs (a thing tough citrine like her only accepts from her or Tourmaline).
There is no denying their different approach to fighting creates a tension between them. Citri is logically jealous of Albi's relatively good health condition and sometimes considers her pacifism as cowardice.
Albi, who believes Citrine is deep down a very loving and good person, wishes she wasn't as brainwashed by the empire's military and saw herself as a worthy individual. The fact that she spends most of her time around Watermelon is another thing Amethyst is rightfully concerned about. She despises Melon's ruthlessness and positive view on violence, but cannot hide that just like her, Melon is trying their best to treat Citri the nicest way possible, helping to raise her spirit, confidence, and self-love.

Anytime there's a special trip or hang out event organized by Tourmaline, there's a decent chance of Albi joining as well. Only then she and Heli have the proper time to socialize. Otherwise their different workstations keep them apart. Nevertheless, these special moments spend together are always fun and welcomed.

Once the war was over, Star and Albi were both assigned to a same construction zone, in which they performed various tasks. The first time they interacted, however, was when Albi and other workers saved Star from getting crushed by a falling pillar. They quickly became close buddies, mostly because Albi's great body language perfectly resonated with Star's ability to predict the future based of what she sees, enabling them to have complex conversations despite Albi's corrupted voice. Before meeting Elbaite's group, they were from that point on each other's only real company.
Nowadays, they work together in a research center, specifically its rehabilitation department, where they help other corrupted patients. In order to save Albi for getting deported to military again, Star signed a contract which promoted Albi to her personal guard, enabling her to stay and not get questioned by the government.
Having calm, helpful nature and neutral approach to biological life gives them plenty of room to share similar interests. Such closeness also means there's no stigma surrounding their different social ranks and simply treat each other as equals.
Due to past abandonment issues, Star is fixated on Albi. Going as far as adjusting her own look to hers, Star is willing to do anything she has the courage for in order to appear pleasing. She also feels insecure anytime she sees Albi socialize with others.
Albi on the other hand dislikes Star's extreme lack of support in arguments. Especially while fighting Melon, Star's neutrality towards conflicts means that despite agreeing with Albi, she rarely calls Melon out.

"Frenemies" is the best word to describe their relationship. Both of them deeply appreciate the fact that the other party still grieves over Pink's death and dislikes Homeword's treatment of her passing. If it wasn't for the higher-ups, Melon would still proudly wear their pink uniform just like Albi.
They also have many mutual friends they spend time with and serve as their emotion support.
Pacifistic Albi constantly judges and even lashes out on Melon any time one of Tourmaline's inhumane experiments is brought up. Melon defends herself in the name of status, science and the chance of discovering better ways of helping future facility patients. As much as Albi hates it, she acknowledges that her hypocritical rival does in fact contribute to many essential discoveries, crucial to a lot of gems. This double edge conflict remains unchanged even after many years.
