Abilities

1. Strong body

2. Bright glow

3. Reflective eyes

4. Sign reading

5. Echolocation

6. -x-

Detailed info

1. Although her body doesn't exactly look like a typical quartz, she still has a physical strength like one. Because of this, she's great at lifting heavy objects, climbing, etc.

2. Her gem glows brighter and farther.

3. Citri sees better in the dim light.

4. While in tunnel systems, citrines create specific scratch marks on their surroundings that work as a cypher. Only other citrines can naturally read them. These coded messages often contain information such as: go, dead end, unstable, follow, last patrol ___, etc...

5. 🦠The two pairs of protrusions on Citri's back can detect things by echolocation. However, her corruption never evolved to the point where she could use this power at will, making it 98% of the time totally non functional.

Other talents

1. Mapping

2. Orientation in terrain

3. Basic knowledge of gem production

3. Predicting the behavior of others

Overall (16%)

Besides gaining white hair ends and protrusions on her back, the corruption primarily affected Citri's inner functioning. Unfortunately for her, some of the newly gained corrupted files directly clash with her healthy ones, which results in number of unwanted side effects. First being the eyesight.

Since fully corrupted quartzes usually lose their vision, it is no surprise that Citri developed mild myopia. Even though she was recommended glasses many times, she still refuses to wear them. For this reason, she narrows her eyes all the time.

Her greatest misfortune, however, are her paralysis attacks. Caused by the clashing program operations, they mostly occur when Citri is exposed to high enough levels of stress, jitters, or muscle activity. That said, they have rarely been observed in situations with no triggers too. Depending on the attack's severity, the symptoms can range from uncontrollable tremor, shaky voice, spasms, stiffness, form weakness to a whole body paralysis. In severe cases, Citri sadly cannot voluntarily retrieve to her gem either, making her vulnerable and difficult to hide at the same time.

Overall, Citri's current health state makes her unsuitable for continuing her previous profession. In normal circumstances, she would already be harvested, but thanks to a lot of paperwork and "friendly discussions" with higher authorities, Melon was able to gain a legal protection over Citri, saving her life in the process.

Trivia

  • I did not created this gemstone "species" (idk how else to call it xd). The original design idea and main characteristics of these fanmade gemstones were made by my really old friend (Poetrykiller), to which I no longer have any contacts. They gave me a full permission to use their idea and expand on it with my own citrine ocs.
  • Her energetic color scheme intentionally does not fit to her personality.
  • This species was created for amino contest.

Nothing can be compared to a great fight. *sigh* Good old days...

Opinion towards

The diamonds: "They are our mighty leaders. Although Yellow is the most important for me, the loss of Pink is unfortunate."

Crystal gems: "I do not understand their motives. If their goal was to overthrow the empresses and trive our kind to extinction, they could have simply said so."

The war: "It was pointless. The only reason why it took us so long to end it, was the miscommunication and inexperience of our commanders. If this rebellion occurred on any other diamond colony, it would have been demolished instantly."

Earth: "Earth wasn't that much interesting. Our hessonite had told the prism-bearing one that pointless casualties among her trained citrines will be fined. Therefore, we only patrolled near the kindergartens. And as you can guess, you can't exactly see any interesting places around them."

Cross-gem fusions: "It's part of my original purpose to prevent their existence. Not only are they disturbing from the outside, but inside they're even worse. From what I've heard, each time two or more different gems fuse, the new creation consumes them bit by bit until they have full control over their components, leaving nothing behind but empty husks. I don't know how about you, but that fate sounds worse than a shattering..."

Corruption: "Please, don't force me to answer truthfully. I have friends that are still somewhat proud of who they are and wish I saw myself that way too. Thus, I won't elaborate any further."

Quartzes: "You shouldn't compare me to standard citrines. They're not as disciplined and knowledgeable. Speaking of which, my training qualifies me to work as a citrine chief. Before the war, I had been a leader of a few military teams."

Oldest memory: "During my first military gathering on Cirny 3, I saw a citrine patrol covered in the shiniest armor imaginable. They fought against perfect cut soldiers and like many others, I was utterly impressed by their victory. I wanted to be just like them. So, without knowing what I'm getting myself into, I volunteered for the advanced training program not even two years after."

Hunting: "You might think my old job was full of action, but it can't be further from the truth. It's a long waiting game taking place in dark corridors that are overflowing with silence. Even when you manage to find a possible track, it usually leads to discharged gemstones, which no longer have the solar energy to create their physical forms. That being said, if you manage to find functioning offcolors, it is fun. If they're fast and familiar with their terrain, you can spend days looking for them. Luckily, we citrines don't get tired. In fact, finally catching up to your targets, who are desperately confused about your stamina, is probably the most satisfying part..."

Being hunted: "You want to give other citrines hard time catching you? Alright, I'll be quick. Step one, always cover your gemstone. Step two, cover other random parts of your body. This creates an additional distraction for us, since we have to guess where your gemstone is truly located. Step three, save your energy for later. Step four, be aware of your surroundings. Step five, be lucky."

Her medical issues: "Don't even let me get started talking about these clody regulations I have to follow. *deep breath* If I could, I would get rid of this... -defectiveness... *pauses* (Just imagine becoming the thing you were created to kill...)"

Rejuvinators: "In unskilled hands, rejuvinators are useless. This new era no longer produces them. As for those still remaining, they're treated as a historical status symbol. A while ago, Melon gained a pink one at the auction house. *Sigh* And of aaaaall the gems, they had to be bidding against Melanite 4EV..."

Resistant to

  • Gem shards: Although looking at moving shards does make her feel little uneasy, her body stays calm. She encounters them quite frequently while working.
  • Shattering gems: It's often part of her job. She's used to it.

Fears & weak points

  • Death: The best soldiers are those who fight for their life. And what better could motivate Citri than an overwhelming fear of death...?
  • Cross-gem fusions: The idea of having her or someone else's mind consumed by another entity frightens her. But that doesn't mean she won't fight them!
  • Corruption: Just like with fusions, it's the loss of self-control that scares her the most. But unlike them, the corruption leaves behind only unrecognizable monsters. The worst part being: She is partially one already...
  • Melon's crazy ideas: Their unpredictability is what makes them dangerous.

Hobbies

  • Exercising: Old habits die hard, even though overdoing it isn't good for her current health.

Goals

  • Save herself: Whatever is threatening her, she wants to overcome it. Staying alive is essential.
  • Serve the empire: As a good Homeworld gem, this task is the fundamental piece of her existence.
  • Cure corruption: She hopes things will be normal again once it disappears.

Pre-war

Early in her career, Citrine voluntarily entered a specialized training program that would improve her ranking among other military soldiers, gain useful knowledge and insure better work opportunities to serve the Homeworld.

The training program was tough, covering both physical and mental exercises. Citri had to unlearn many habits she as an impetuous gem was born with. From using her right arm less to completely overwriting her energetic recklessness into an obedient thoughtfulness, she, on a surface, grew into the perfect mold her commanders desired.

After roughly 500 years, she successfully finished the program and was immediately promoted to the most important outposts out there.

Citri arrived to Earth 350 years before the war. During this time, Crystal Gems were nothing more than a group of utopian pacifists who dreamed about an equal coexistence of gems and organic life. Although still small in numbers, they started to gain new followers daily. To slow down this process, Homeworld recruited tens of most loyal citrines to patrol Earth's areas around kindergartens and stop anyone trying to spread the words of Crystal Gems. Citri was one of those citrines.

Mid-war

Once the war started, not much has changed for Citri. She was still tasked to patrol kindergartens with the twist of being more aggressive and brutal towards the rebels. If it was possible, she retained and imprisoned any of them back in the main Homeworld base.

During one of her visits, she overheard a frustrated elbaite who was desperately trying to understand why all of their squad's assassination attempts are so frequently interrupted by the rebels.

Having to deal with deserting quartzes on an almost daily basis, Citri suggested there might be a spy snitching on them and that they should rather secretly focus on unexpected targets. The gem considered her hypothesis, thanked her and left. From that point on she still occasionally met this elbaite and gave them any useful tips on how to solve their secret agent problem.
