DESCRIPTION
James' naturally charismatic and confident personality has long since been tempered by years of religious devotion and debilitating illness. A Demist priest, when he's not in church, James can often be seen helping elderly parishioners with chores and giving advice to anyone willing to listen (or not). Despite good intentions, James unfortunately is prone to a holier-than-thou and self-righteous streak; thoroughly hating being wrong about anything.
Ironically, James suffers from retrograde amnesia and is wrong about many things. It's not uncommon for him to make up things on the spot in his sermons just because he can't remember - and partly because he's cherry picking his beliefs. He’s thankful most of his audience are usually half-asleep. However calm as the clouds outwardly, James is extremely conflicted about his life and doubts the teachings that he so feverishly devoted himself to before. James struggles to admit the only thing binding him to the faith is an intense fear of death. Spending most of his life running from death and his own heart’s desires, James is at a crossroads; happiness or faith, heaven or hell. Although an objectively bad priest, James has a naturally warm heart, helping people always comes first and foremost even in face of fear and pride. However he is too capable for others and not for himself; putting others ahead of him as a way to avoid his own daunting problems.
James has many friends in Woodvale - many knew him since he was just a little lad and as his former status as social butterfly. He's entangled in the problems of many townspeople, but he's made his childhood best friend, [Main Character]'s, case a high priority. They parted on an uncertain note, but James’ feelings toward [MC] still grip his heart even through all this time.

TRIVIA
- James is specifically a Northwestern wolf. Anthropomorphic wolves in-universe still retain a 'pack instinct'. Since James has been disowned by most of his family due to his asexuality, he's considered a lone wolf by most accounts. James tries to make up for this by finding a pack in his friends, which is why he is so eager to keep the peace among the group.
- James has Congenital HIV/AIDS, and has a very hard time fighting most illnesses. James is diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome as well, causing numbness and chronic pain. He still gets some bouts of scary paralysis.
- James, like any wolf, loves howling, but always tries to keep the volume controlled. If you're walking around Woodvale and hear a wolf's howl, it might be him!
- James has befriended the local raven/crow population. They perch freely on his shoulders and eat out of his hand, as well as bring him lots of trinkets and little gifts (that he treasures deeply).
- The 'winged star' marking on his chest is the result of permanently dyed fur and is the Wolfe family insignia. It's based on the Sirius star in the constellation Canis Major.
- The Wolfe family comes from a family of Russian immigrants that settled all over the West Coast. A not-insignificant number of them were members of organized crime, and later found their wealth as mobsters during the Great Wars.
- Somewhat germophobic - James cannot function in a dirty space. He carries hand sanitizer and a face mask everywhere too.
- When he has free time James enjoys writing poetry in his diary. He will never show anyone. Though, sometimes he does find sinister poems he doesn't remember writing..
- Of course he thinks demons are real and it's an extremely easy way to scare him. If you so much as mention one he won't sleep that night and probably refuse to talk to you for a bit.
- Before James took a sudden turn into priesthood, he studied law with aspirations to become a lawyer.
