Adam’s unremarkable appearance belies his renowned name as an investigative mastermind. Being the brains behind the capture of many heinous serial killers, Adam’s developed an unshakable reputation as a genius that can solve almost any case; no matter how impossible. He pulls clues and leads almost out of thin air, with the same charisma and confidence as a magician pulls a rabbit out of a hat. And just like the magician’s illusionary performance, some have begun to suspect a trick of the eyes or some machiavellian powerplay going on behind the scenes. Once caught, every criminal once on Adam’s radar seems to wither and deteriorate after confessing a full slew of crimes - before meeting an untimely and unnatural demise.In praise or in detraction, more eyes seem to settle on Adam with each growing day, and each case solved.

The cameras may present Adam as a dutiful, charismatic hero in vicious pursuit of justice, but in the flesh, he’s a bitter, contemptuous loner. Adam’s relationship with humanity itself teeters the line between hatred and apathy. He will act courteous and play a good man's game, but this two-faced detective just isn't interested in helping anyone besides himself. If Adam has learned anything during his tenure, it's that no kindness goes unpunished. No good deed met without a figurative or literal knife in the back. With nothing and no one in his life despite his work, it can be argued that the only sort of closeness he feels is with the criminals he obsesses over day and night. He's a a detestable, bombastic, tiresome, egocentric little creep.

As an exception, [Main Character] has won Adam's respect after partnering together a few months back on a cold case. Yet, Adam despises [MC] for besting his skill AND having the gall to turn tail to his hometown in the aftermath. Luckily, the sleepy town of Woodvale and it's infectious rash of murders have become the perfect staging ground for a game of cat and mouse between rival detectives and an evasive killer ...
