Biography

Abieyuwa Praxion, or Yuwa, is a spectacle amongst the newly recruited bulwarks. Her incredible magical ability is the talk of the city, making her stand out amongst her peers. Yuwa's magical ability far surpasses that of the average person. Abominations that would normally take three bulwarks to take down are obliterated by Yuwa with a single spell. She is not only magically gifted, but also boasts tremendous physical strength. That is to say she is a prodigy, one so rare and abnormal she shouldn’t even exist.

Due to her prodigious magical power, Yuwa is a prime candidate to become one of the royal guards stationed at the capital, where the best of the best bulwarks protect the Cleon family from abominations. It seems unusual that Yuwa, who has so much promise, would instead be sent to Corundum City, the place where problematic bulwarks are stationed. As it would turn out, Yuwa wanted to be transferred to Corundum City. Her motivations are a mystery; if questioned, she simply says, "I'm looking for an old friend," with a tinge of melancholy in her voice.

Despite her great abilities, Yuwa is by no means a perfect person. In order to obtain her amazing strength, you must first deal with her pessimistic outlook. Yuwa is terribly cynical and self-centered. While she won't intentionally harm others, Yuwa also isn't willing to fully accommodate the people around her. She doesn't care about protecting the weak or about making people feel happy or safe. While most sorcerers become bulwarks to defend the nation, Yuwa fights for her own personal agenda. The only reason she is concerned about people's safety is because that's her job, not because she cares about others. Because of this, she struggles to get along with Mai, a bulwark that cares about protecting others more than anything. Initially, Yuwa dislikes Mai, however she quickly realizes that Mai might be the one she’s really looking for.

Yuwa had the impression that Mai would be a bootlicker who would be critical of everything Yuwa did. She was delighted to discover that Mai was actually a kind, sensitive recluse. Yuwa loves to tease Mai to get reactions, but always reassures them that she cares for them. She has started to look up to Mai as she found their selflessness to be admirable. Despite her interest in Mai, Yuwa's circumstances hold her back. Perhaps they can be lovers in another life.

Zach Kallikos

Friend

In the beginning, they were simply co-workers. Zach was the first one to really welcome Yuwa to the office and helped her get adjusted to the new city. Other than that, they weren’t particularly close. Most of what Yuwa knows about Zach is through Mai’s stories. She finds him to be quite naive and innocent as he always seeks the good in everyone. It isn’t until Zach opens up to Yuwa that they start to bond.

Yuwa and Greyson have a lot in common. They both love drowning their problems in alcohol, have a similar taste in women, and share a dark sense of humor. She only sees him as a fun friend to have around when you want to party, but they don’t share secrets with each other. The atmosphere is never serious between them, even when the topic is heavy.

Owen Draktetos

Yuwa’s assigned doctor at the office. There is nothing familiar between them; their relationship is strictly professional. Over the course of her stay, Yuwa has heard the many disturbing rumors surrounding him. They don’t really affect her opinion of Owen. She has a strong feeling that they’re all false as it doesn’t make sense he’d be one. Unlike the other Bulwarks, she still treats him with respect and common courtesy.

Cwen Xeraphion

Adversary

No one ticks Mai off more than Cwen. Despite having different professions, Cwen and Mai have this unspoken rivalry to see who can be the best. Having met years ago, Cwen is constantly trying to one-up Mai, whether it be in social status or magic ability. The rivalry has gone on for years and frankly, Mai is just tired of it. Mai hopes for Cwen to grow past this obsession she has with her.

Angelo Cosilas

Adversary

They have a troubled past with one another. While they used to be on friendly terms with hints of a friendship blossoming, it all went downhill after the disappearance of Banyu. Angelo holds a deep hatred for Mai and won’t hesitate to degrade her any chance he gets. They must occasionally work together, so Angelo keeps it on the down-low most of the time.

Gavin Calpraxia

Superior

Although Gavin is significantly younger than Mai, Mai treats him with the same respect she treats all her elders. He’s always been a very understanding bastion in comparison to her previous ones. She appreciates how seriously he takes his work and respects his ambitions. Their relationship is mostly professional, but they will have a friendly chat every once in a while when the opportunity comes up.

Rayna Seleon

Mai admires Rayna so much it can come off as idolization at times. Rayna was Mai’s teacher in the past when they were training to become a bulwark. Mai is continually in shock at how strong Rayna is despite having the same weak blood type as them. They will regularly go to Rayna for advice on relationships or to vent about their frustrations. Rayna’s logical approach to situations always brings Mai comfort.

Rocky Cosilas

Co-Worker

A previous partner of Mai’s. Mai and Rocky weren’t friends outside of work but got along well while they were together. Mai doesn’t know much about Rocky as she always kept to herself about her personal life. Any questions were swiftly avoided or brushed off. Since Mai was the same as Rocky, their bond never grew deeper.

Banyu Menodios

A previous partner of Mai’s. After Mai and Rocky stopped working together, Banyu was paired up with Mai. As is typical with Mai, she never got close to Banyu. Truthfully, she found him to be annoying at times because of his overly-optimistic and hyperactive personality. She would say one thing and he’d interpret it as something completely different. It was an okay partnership that didn’t last long.

Javier Charkos

Co-Worker

Javier and Mai used to work together in the towns. While not on the same team, Mai often acted as his mentor. Javier looked up to Mai with starry eyes, seeing them as their hero and aspiration. After the accident, Mai can no longer bare to look him in the eyes—they’re a disappointment and a failure of a role-model. Javier agrees.

Maverick Eukos

Co-Worker

A long-time co-worker and friend of Zach’s. The only times Maverick tries to engage in a conversation with Mai is if he’s looking for Zach or if she’s with Zach. Surprisingly, Mai has found their personalities mesh well together. Maverick is a playful guy but never takes things too far and respects everyone’s boundaries. She wouldn’t mind being with Maverick more.

Monique Chrysanike

Co-Worker

A long-time co-worker and friend of Zach’s. Mai rarely converses with Monique unless it’s for work-related reasons. If there’s no one else in the room, Monique will talk to Mai about office gossip and drama. It’s usually a one-sided conversation, as Mai does not have much to say. They’re happy to lend an ear and give mediocre advice if that’s what Monique wants.

Yana Kyriloas

Mai’s assigned doctor. Their relationship is strictly professional. From the little time they’ve spent together, Mai finds Yana to be a very kind person. Yana is understanding of Mai’s health issues and doesn’t look down on her for having a weak blood type. Mai doesn’t know much about who Yana is as a person, but she does find her to be quite attractive.

Flint Diopis

Mai has known Flint since she was a child. He was close with her parents, so she viewed him as a family friend. When Mai’s parents were absent from home, Flint would often fill in for them. He was like a second father to her and Zach. Due to Flint’s serious exterior, Mai and Flint have a mostly professional relationship today. When they talk, it’s mostly about work. Every once in a while, they’ll discuss family issues.
