Windwall

Windwall is a large, sprawling city in the cold, unforgiving south. There aren't really any other cities around for days, well there are some 'towns' like Frostreach, but those are more like just a collection of houses inhabited by resilient, stubborn Animalian than an actual bustling city. The buildings within Windwall are made mostly out of black stone as well as the pebbled roads cause them to stand out amongst the white landscape. However, if you visit Windwall, the thing that will instantly stand out to you would be the giant stone wall standing in the center of the city. The wall is massive and towers over all trees and buildings around it and has intricate carvings on it. It is said that the wall shares a connection to the Foristeri subspecies history leading many Foristeri to settle down in Windwall, although a number of other Animalian that don't mind the cold make their homes there as well.

Although there are many permanent residents within the city, most businesses in Windwall rely on the regular stream of tourists to stay afloat with most of these tourists being Foristeri visiting to see the wall. These tourists sometimes come on their own but may are brought through by the Historic Travels Expedition and those who can't afford a place to stay for the night are welcome to set up their tents on the outskirts of the town in the campgrounds. Most Animalian end up staying in tents because the rooms, just like everything else in Windwall, are extremely expensive. In order to make a living off of the few travelers, the prices around town seem to be painfully high as if they know that travelers will have no other option than to pay what is being asked. There are a few places however that are well known for being actually affordable, not cheap, but reasonable, the most well-known would be a place to eat called the Artic Eatery.

And if you find yourself in town you might as well find one of the town's many historians to tell you all about the 'Legend of the Emperor's Penguins'(pg1, pg2). This group of Animalian spend many years studying and teaching others about the legend and are sure to have a story to tell you. You can often find them regaling travelers with the story at the base of the wall.

The last interesting thing to note about this town is that it is the base of operations for the 'Guiding Lights', a group of tough Animalian who spend most of their time wandering around the frozen expanse searching for those who are in trouble or lost within the Southen Winds icy domain. Their gear and supplies are funded by the city of Windwall and without its funding, they would not exist.

Those that grew up within Windwall seem to get discounts on goods making their life their more affordable than those who visit. Either way, this is home to them and some find it hard to leave the place they grew up in while others refuse to turn away from the place where their subspecies history was made.
