SUMMARY

Sunset is a soldier of Castiel's Rebellion. She joined Deserve's Army and participated in the attack on the medicine cats in the Moonstone cave. She understood how beneficial having kits to participate in the coming battle was. So when Mistybreeze refused to have kits with Revengeheart, Sunset was more than willing to provide. She became pregnant, but delivered only one kit, and he was born after the battle against the Clans. Seeing him as a disappointment, she carelessly called him "Kit" and distanced herself from him.

After Deserve was killed, Sunset moved on with Castiel's Rebellion. After Kit returned from spying on Rosemary's camp, Sunset revealed the details about his father's identity.

During the battle against Rosemary's Army, Sunset tried to attack Rosemary and then killed Shredded Ivy. Rosemary had Centipede and Fairy kill Sunset in response.

She ascended to an unknown afterlife.

Mate

Revengeheart was Sunset's mate. She teasingly nicknamed him "Strike", after how he wanted his warrior name to be Revengestrike. When Mistybreeze continued refusing to have kits for the coming battle, Revengeheart and Poisonedsap decided he needed a backup plan. Sunset was more than willing to provide kits for the cause. She and Revengeheart mated and had a single kit together: Kit. Sunset only mentioned him a few times to Kit and referred to him as "Strike", so Kit grew up never knowing the details about his father's identity. Eventually these details came to light, and Kit was shocked to learn his father had been a Clan cat.

"Back when we were Deserve’s Army, he was one of our allies. Many of us she-cats felt having kits was crucial to the plan, to provide more cats for battle. [...] Mistybreeze was supposed to mate with Revengeheart, but she wouldn’t. But Strike, err- Revengeheart knew how important having kits was. Poisonedsap told him he couldn’t waste any more time waiting for Mistybreeze. He needed a backup plan. So, he talked to me, and I was more than willing to provide.”  -Sunset (Winds of Darkness, chapter 24)

Son

Foxy is Sunset's son. Sunset understood the importance of having kits to provide cats for the battle against the Clans. As Mistybreeze kept refusing her assigned role, Sunset was more than willing to provide, mating with Revengeheart. When Kit was born a moon late and the only kit of his litter, she was annoyed and saw him as a disappointment, giving him his the name "Kit" carelessly. She nicknamed Revengeheart "Strike" and referred to him by this name a few times to Kit when he was little.

She then ignored him completely, only speaking to him again when he returned from spying on Rosemary's camp. She found it interesting he was finally displaying some of Revengeheart's qualities, revealing the details of his father's identity. As Kit changed his name to Foxy, Sunset was annoyed before giving him a nod of approval.

“So, I had his kits. Unfortunately, it was just that one, and he was born too late.”  -Sunset about Foxy (Winds of Darkness, chapter 24)

Story

Sunset is a soldier of Deserve's Army. (Shadows of Blood, allegiance update 4)

Sunset and Crow are on patrol when they slink out of the bushes, seeing Poisonedsap and her allies arrive. They escort them to the camp. Spiderpaw and Falconpaw are uneasy about Sunset. After Crow angrily leaves the camp, Sunset hesitates before following.  (Mistybreeze's Choice, chapter 8)

Sunset and Wolf watch Bloodfur distrustfully as he drinks from the stream. (Shadows of Blood, chapter 20)

Sunset joins Papercut, Wolf, Bonfire, Screech, Bloodfur, and Mottledface in attacking the medicine cats in the Moonstone cave. She attacks Spicewhisker, snarling as she swipes his muzzle. He knocks her onto her back and bites into her forepaw, causing her to yowl in pain. Bloodfur leaps to her aid and rolls Spicewhisker off her. (Shadows of Blood, chapter 22)

Annoyed Mother

She looked forward to the birth of her kits who would participate in the battle against the Clans. But Sunset had given birth to a single kit, hardly an asset to begin with, but also born one moon after the battle.  (Winds of Darkness, chapter 3)

Annoyed at his late birth, Sunset saw him as a disappointment. She hadn't even cared to give him a proper name, simply calling him "Kit" until every cat accepted it as his name. Once or twice she told Kit that his father was "Strike" and was killed in battle against the Clans. She did not make any arrangements for Kit's education. Sunset never intended to hide Revengeheart's identity from him, she was just so distant she didn't care to talk about it.  (Winds of Darkness, chapter 3 and 24)

Sunset is sitting by the stream grooming herself. She joins Papercut and Bonfire's hunting party, ignoring Kit as she passes him.  (Winds of Darkness, chapter 3)

Sunset returns from a hunting party with Wolf, Ivy, and Stripednose. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 17)

When Autumnpaw and Duskpaw arrive in the camp, Sunset bristles and asks "Who are they?". When Autumnpaw reveals she's the daughter of Bloodfur and Mistybreeze, Sunset rolls her eyes at the mention of Mistybreeze. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 21)

Details Revealed

When Kit returns from spying on Rosemary's camp with Duskpaw and Autumnpaw, Sunset comments it's interesting Kit is finally displaying his father's manipulative traits, speaking to him for the first time since he was a young kit. Castiel is confused as Kit refers to his father as "Strike", revealing his real name was Revengeheart. Sunset is a little annoyed at the questions from Kit and his friends, but explains her relationship with the ShadowClan warrior. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 24)

After she expresses her dissatisfaction with Kit's late birth, Autumnpaw and Duskpaw jump to his defense and scold her for not giving him a proper name, offending and startling her. Kit proceeds to take on a new name: Foxy. As the camp cheers his name, Sunset is annoyed before she gives him a nod. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 24)

Battle Against Rosemary

Sunset heads to Fourtrees with the rest of Castiel's Rebellion, ready to use her strength against Rosemary. After Rosemary launches her attack and sets fire to the clearing, they rush to help. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 26)

In the battle, Sunset and Bonfire roll by hissing and spitting. Later on, Sunset tries to leap at Rosemary on the Great Rock, but Shredded Ivy drags her down. Sunset rips free and slashes her neck, killing her. Rosemary furiously yowls at Centipede and Fairy to kill Sunset, and they do. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 28)

At the gathering following the battle, Castiel tells everyone how Sunset died trying to take down Rosemary herself, and they will honor her bravery. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 29)
