Appearance

Laplace feels divorced from their birth gender. Due to the time and location that they live in, they do not have a label to use for themself. Laplace presents themself as androgynous and let's others pick if they think they are a man or a woman. The way he performs his gender is strictly for himself, but it is still thrilling for him to see others fumble for what to refer to him as. He dresses in a mix of men's and women's clothing and accessories. With a large wardrobe that he changes out regularly, it is rare to see Laplace wear the same outfit twice. Laplace also keeps his dark brown hair cut short with a center part, but often switches up how it is styled. He does have an hourglass figure that he will either hide or accentuate depending on what is in fashion. Laplace follows fashion trends only to an extent. The need to make a statement with his outfit flouts any fashion rules. Laplace dresses provocatively when he can and thoroughly enjoys the attention that comes from it. When he does dress in a way that exposes a lot of skin it becomes readily apparent that his body is covered in a mat of scars that are particularly centered around his torso.

Outside of his manner of dress, the most notable thing about his appearance is that he has sectoral heterochromia in both eyes. The top half of his irises are dark brown with the bottom half being a blue-grey. Due to being an undead, he is rather pallid. His skin only has a flush to it if he has recently eaten or if he has applied makeup. Laplace’s lateral incisors and canine teeth do have a noticeable point to them since his father was a vampire. He is largely considered oddly handsome.

Being the child of a vampire, Laplace does not have all the traits of a true vampire. He inherited only some of the inherent magic of vampires and missed out on most of the useful traits. All he really got from his heritage was immorality, the ability to walk on walls, and being hard to kill. Laplace can pass as living and does have a heartbeat. He does not need to breathe and only does so out of reflex; he can hold his breath for extended periods but his body does still get that panicky "need to breathe" feeling. Unlike a true vampire, they can cross and go into running water, but it still has a sort of mesmerizing effect.

Personality

Laplace thinks of themself as a bad person. While the evils they commit now are in the name of greater good, murder is still murder. All the good they do now can't exactly undo the carnage of their youth either. Their past has left them feeling as they don't quite fit anywhere. They view themself superior to the living, but are disgusted by their fellow undead. Laplace makes a lot of acquaintances, but never truly makes any friends.

Even if they don't care for deep emotional intimacy, they still love to be around others. People are interesting. Simple as. Charismatic and debonair, Laplace's sociableness allows them to freely mingle amongst the stratified social classes in Isador. As well, it lets them tread the line between daring and scandalous. They go where they want. They live the life they wish. People fear vampires and have a hard time telling them "no", especially one so charming and willing to carry out their threats.

Laplace does have a noble streak. They are known widely for keeping the peace and being a charitable person when the mood strikes them. Laplace believes that they give back as much as they take from their community. However, as they were in their youth, Laplace is still a selfishly motivated person gripped by vices. While the whims they find themself subject to are no longer sudden spiteful acts done for petty reasons, they are an opportunist. If given the chance, they will twist a situation to benefit them even if it comes at a cost to others.

Notes on Drawing

  • You can draw her in any outfit from her ref. I don't have a preference on which. You don't have to draw the walking stick if you don't want to.

Relationships

Naudin

Father

He exists simultaneously in her mind as someone she loved dearly and as a pathetic creature. His shortsighted mistakes damned the two of them, and has trapped her in a seemingly endless cat-and-mouse game. It's now a case of she'll either have to outlive the vampires he pissed off or strike a deal with their hopefully more understanding descendants. Laplace on the very rare occasion is struck by a pang of missing him. He loved her and did truly try his best. The kindest thing Laplace believes she has done for anyone was killing him.
