Billy Cloister

his full name is William Frank Cloister and now that you've seen that name spelled out you will certainly die.

Backstory + Information.

Billy's heritage is very straightforward. Yeah, he's one-hundred percent American. His genealogy dates back to Swedish immigration to Virginia, and a relocation to South Carolina during some time in the 1890s. Oh, and he's Greek. As in, his mother is a 6'4 literal Greek goddess of witchcraft.

Jokes aside, Billy's mother is Circe, a goddess of magic. While living among mortals, she shared a romance with Billy's father—a grown ass man who crushes beer cans against his forehead and still goes by the nickname Tommy—and later became pregnant with Billy. She would leave him in the custody of Tommy, but she visited on occasion, if only to see the two of them. Her connection to them is questionable, and neither is certain if it truly runs deep on her end. Billy, ever the optimist, holds a great respect for his mother and, against all odds, trusts her.

Had he grown up in different circumstances, Billy might have become a powerful witch and ascended to a level comparable to that of his mother, albeit less ancient and godlike. However, the childhood Billy did get was rife with a normal if somewhat white-trashy atmosphere, and there is nothing ancient or godlike about him.

As an adolescent, he elected to cause as much chaos whenever possible. Whether that be creating bottle rockets or egging the houses of teachers he didn't like, chaos was caused. This behavior would rarely elicit any sort of attention from his father or mother, with the former almost encouraging some adolescent rebellion and the latter being mainly absent in Billy's life. This lack of discipline had mixed effects on Billy's future. On the one hand, he's generally free-spirited and happy, on the other hand, he has no idea how to be an adult.

As he grew into his teenage years, Billy got very into witchcraft and found he had some natural talent with it. A scary amount of natural talent, actually.

At seventeen, Billy would move out of his father's house and into a tent he set up by a river by his hometown. He has varying reasons for this—he wanted to find himself, get closer to nature, live an honest life. Also his dad said, "as long as you live in my house you live with my rules," and Billy took that very directly. This new living situation wouldn't stop Billy from getting his education, or pursuing a higher education as he went on to get his fucking masters in philosophy with the aid of his dad's money and a minor scholarship and only a little debt. A tiny bit.

He sustained himself doing odd jobs and eventually saved enough to buy a pickup truck, and to be honest, it is a pretty bitchin' car, if Billy were to say so himself.

Current Story.

Billy's been poking his nose in a lot of places where it doesn't belong, if we're being honest. He finds himself tangled with the main crew and at one point living in their house and eating all of their food, but his interaction with them ends after about a month.

They all kind of hate him.

Design Elements/Appearance.

• General design elements.
  • Billy has dirty-blonde hair which he cuts himself, he usually wears a hat. The lucky few who see him without one will then be exposed to the fact that he definitely does not wash his hair on a regular basis. Or comb it. Or touch it.
  • He's around 5'10.
  • He has brown eyes, or at least, he usually has brown eyes.
  • He's white, and considering he lives outdoors and drives a pickup, has atrocious tan lines.
  • He has three tattoos, a regrettable one of his ex-girlfriend's name on his wrist, another of a sigil on his shoulderblade, and a stick-and-poke that no one aside from himself will ever see.
• Demigod-specific design elements.
  • Billy looks almost nothing like his mother, so this category is pretty barren. Functionally, Billy appears a hundred-percent mortal.
  • At some point this year I hit peak-edginess and decided that when Billy engages in witchcraft/magic stuff his eyes change color to yellow, which is coincidentally his mom's eye color. I'm aware of how dumb it is but fuck you this is my OC, Helen.

Personality Elements + Abilities and Talents.

• Personality.
  • Billy doesn't tend to dwell on the negative, and likes to think of himself as relatively carefree.
  • He's very self-involved and the most attractive person he knows is himself, and maybe whoever he's flirting with at the time.
  • Speaking of which, he's awfully flirtatious for a guy who lives in a tent. He talks about himself as if he were adding to an online dating profile.
  • He's kind of childish.
  • Though he puts on a front, he isn't actually completely incompetent, and tends to be a little manipulative when it comes down to it.
• General talents.
  • Billy is academically skilled despite being a fucking idiot.
    • He didn't get that philosophy masters for nothin'
  • He can be charming, allegedly.
  • He's really good at reading people.
• Demigod-specific talents.
  • Billy is a naturally gifted witch by virtue of his mother being a goddess of witchcraft.
    • However, his magic tends to lean a bit towards the malevolent side, and is a lot darker than he'd like other people to believe.

  • He's actually an Aries-Taurus cusp and he'd love to talk about the nuances of his personality and alignment over dinner with you sometime if you'd let him wait why are you leaving come back—
  • He's from South Carolina and you can bet your ass he has a terribly deep southern accent.
  • He's a decent cook.

Relationships.

🌟 Laila Karnofsky | Friend. 🌟

Laila's a cool person, but Billy can tell she isn't entirely comfortable in her own skin. He's on good terms with her, though. She even seems to find him entertaining, at certain points, which is awesome. She's awesome, generally.

🌟 Troye Bernstein | Friend. 🌟

Tall to an almost distressing extent, but sweet nonetheless, Troye is completely harmless in Billy's eyes. Billy feels he would be an easily manipulated person, but he mainly keeps that thought to himself. After all, that's a pretty suspicious thing to say.

Of course, he also thinks Troye is very cute.

🌟 Florence | Friend. 🌟

Billy loves Florence. He thinks she's a very charming flesh-eating monster and that she knows how to have fun. He also thinks it's kind of wildly dangerous to keep someone like her around their house wherein everyone living in it, aside from Z, is liable to be her next meal, but at the same time Billy is nothing if not a risk-taker.

Also, she's probably given him the succ at least once. That's just who they are as people.

🌟 Nerys Spring-Selborne | Friend. 🌟

Okay, admittedly the "friendship" between them is pretty one-sided, but she's just so cute! Billy finds her adorable similarly to how people find babies and puppies adorable. She's tiny and super intelligent—almost dangerously so—and she's working through a lot. He likes pointing out how short she is and questioning her about all her nerd shit.

🌟 Andre Michon | Friend. 🌟

Okay, this friendship is definitely one-sided, and Billy can tell that Andre is clearly annoyed by his presence. However, Andre is kind of adorable to him and Billy is nothing if not a lover of attention, negative or otherwise. He enjoys pestering Andre whenever possible.

Also, he feels a sort of kinship with Andre considering their similarly distant parents and lack of motivation. Billy can tell that Andre finds this parallel kind of distressing.

🌟 Achilles | Friend. 🌟

Achilles is absolutely adorable, and if they were not going out with Andre somewhat monogamously, Billy would certainly go after them. Actually, he'd probably go after Andre, too. Billy is nothing if not an opportunist and an appreciator of cute faces, or at least, that's what he says in his latest pickup line.

He does think Achilles is making the wrong decision, as far as staying on the surface goes.

🌟 Z | Friend. 🌟

Billy just loves everyone in this house more and more. He regards Z as an adorable little menace and takes every opportunity to talk to them. He tends to see the idea behind their projected personality and regards them as you would a particularly spirited kicked puppy.

Needless to say, he's aware that it comes off a bit patronizing, and that it drives Z up the wall.
