Jake

SUMMARY

Jake is an off-kilter kleptomaniac who's stayed sane enough to learn some history.

PERSONALITY

Excitable, neurotic, curious, friendly and a spaz. Aside from the inclusion of Chloe, Jake is routinely the only upbeat person in the club. Jimmy is there but he's not genuine like Jake is. Jake is naturally drawn to meeting new people is the most welcoming of the club. He felt that he's found a home with fellow lucid people here and would want to extend that to as many people as possible. Jake is prone to random mumblings and outbursts about odd things.

His main issues reside with how boring everything is. Whereas Alex internalizes it and it contributes to his depression, the silence and emptiness causes Jake to go a bit nutty. And in order to entertain himself, he will go on small trips around The City finding, breaking, or stealing things to bring back. He's become a kleptomaniac as there's no reason not to be. He's not going to be arrested and the non-lucid folks wont do anything. He'll usually suss a place out to find if someone lives there. Usually no one does, so he'll steal. If there is someone there, he'll likely just spoke them for a bit of fun. Most of the time they dont notice. His most common spot are large commercial structures which have been vacant since time immemorial. He also likes to walk around and look at the large statues to the scientists that created the Age of Lights.

And, he'll join Alex in The Mind Haven. Though, unlike battling angry denizens or wandering aimlessly, he likes to revisit old memories of Age of Lights denizens, accessible through old archives he's found while exploring. He's grown a fascination with the past, likely the youngest person in The City to actually know what's going on and what's happened. Alex only moderately pays attention when Jake comes back telling all of these stories. Mostly tunes in when the rockstars of old are mentioned. Jake has also attended long ago digital concerts.

HISTORY

Jake, like Alex and more recently, Mullet and his class, come from suburbia south of The City. He was not born in The City. But unlike Mullet and the rest, he and Alex are fugitives, that actively searched for a new life. A life that wasnt drab and mundane like their parents. A place in the fascinating, large, endless City. They weren't however aware of the sheer level of existentialism that City would bring them.

Simply, one day, he and his bud had decided long ago to just skip school and run away. They had grown tired of the life of existing in a nice house with one car, a family and an easy job. They wanted more from life. More from life that their rock songs promised. Rock songs that told of a life that hadnt existed for centuries. But they didnt know that. They were, well are, dumb and young. So they figured life must be way more fun up north. Unfortunately, they only found this out after running away. After vandalizing school property one last time, one last final "fuck you." After they stole a car, got chased by police. After they had traveled miles from home, getting lost. After they crashed it some place down town and hid out for a few weeks. And after they discovered denizens. And their existences. So now they seek refuge with Jimmy, and soon Mullet.
