Zhe Yuan (or Zheyuan) (Chinese: 哲远 Zhé yuǎn) is a Pyro character.

Older brother of Lihua. Zhe Yuan is also one of the few half-illuminated-beasts who have not signed a contract with Rex Lapis despite living most of his life at Liyue.

Currently he works for Uncle Tian as a Intelligence Agent with Xiong Jie as his partner.

Despite his very young looks, Zhe yuan is over two thousand years old. Alongside with his younger sister Lihua, they both grew up without parents. At that time Zhe yuan tried his best in providing for his younger sister, and despite he struggled greatly, he still went back to her with a smile on his face. Even though they are both fox Adepti and powerful beasts, they were still children. 

Legends say that they were descendents from the mighty Tenghuang, which is visible in their fox-like features. This was something Kang aso realized, a fellow Adeptus who was close with Morax and Guizhong. It was said that Kang was the oldest Adeptus at that time and of high rank, though his heart softened at the sight of the two siblings in need. Therefore, he decided to take them in and raise them as if they were his own.

Kang teached them to banish malice and hatred, as well how to tend to other living beings' injuries. But a bit different to his sister, Zheyuan preferred to do stuff and learn more by himself, just learning and taking the basics from his master which leaded Kang to teach him sealing abilities instead and how to work together with his sister. With united forces, they would be able to make changes to Liyue‘s future.

Due to Kang being friends with Morax and Guizhong, Lihua was able to meet both of them once. Morax, Guizhong and Kang had a strong alliance, protecting Liyue all together. One night, Kang spoke wise words to his two foxian children. “Zheyuan, Lihua. As Adepti you two bear great powers and abilities. You are illuminated beasts far more powerful than any mortal. It‘s your emotions that make you human as well, never forget them and follow your heart. This is what makes you partly human. This is why Liyue needs you, you need to protect these people with all of the two.

Oblivious to the fact that this was a goodbye, young Lihua hugged her master with her usual bright smile. Zheyuan knew better though, he knew that time would soon come where they would be on their own again. Nothing lasts forever and Kang dies, due to old age. After their master passed, Lihua and Zheyuan wandered the land called Liyue without a goal, exorcizing the evil that stood in their way. For ages, they both continued to carry on his legacy and live up to it. Humanity saw the foxes as the Light of Liyue, protecting them and giving them hope again. 

Their actions of course went not unnoticed, no other than Morax himself recognized the siblings deeds and hard work. He decided to offer the two foxes a contract. Morax saw a lot of his old friend Kang in them, as well as his undeniable talent. They would cure diseases, purify evil and tend to the Yaksha‘s wounds. Lihua specifically was the one to cure wounds and injuries, while Zheyuan was exorcizing and sealing away evil spirits. Seeing her mentor in the Geo God, Lihua agreed to help, sparking new life in the Adeptus. The contract she made with Morax bound her to Liyue and it‘s people, however Lihua would give her life for both in a heartbeat. She didn‘t even wait for her brothers response, agreeing immediately. Zheyuan decided to decline the contract, though would always be there for his sister and after this he decided to embark on a journey to find himself, he wanted to see what was beyond the borders of Liyue, leading him to even take a long period of meditation.
