Merrill Labelle's Comments

Merrill is delightful!! :')

Honestly, she's a character who's just right up my alley. I always love the loud and rowdy types with a heart of gold (and freckles, freckles are always good), but I think what I love most about her is how unphased she seems to be by having been thrust 100 years into the future, away from anyone she knows. It's very pragmatic, like OK, new situation, but I'm still a soldier: who needs serving now? And I love that she keeps her now-old fashioned clothing and sword despite the situation. There's a determination and stubbornness to everything about Merrill that's very endearing, and I'm so glad that she made new friends in the future despite being such a fish out of water.

I also just love characters who can't help what they are? Merrill isn't the most eloquent or cautious or graceful person, but he is driven to be a hero no matter what, and that's always what he'll do, even when it puts himself at risk, and that's very admirable, but it's also understandable. It's not even a matter of being angelically virtuous: it's just the driven and honor-bound kind of person he is.

(It's also really nice reading about a nonbinary/gender non-conforming character who was always accepted by their family and society! He's small and androgynous, but fierce and heroic and commanding/charismatic to others, and that's just very refreshing to read about! I especially love the line about how "his gender is a soldier": that tells you everything you need to know about what he views as important in life!)

THANK YOU SO MUCH and sorry for the late reply!! I saw this in the morning (and honestly it made me smile so much) but had a long day and wanted to answer when I'm not groggy and tired haha

Anyway I'm super happy you liked Merrill!! She's honestly one of my favourite characters to write in all her chaotic grandness ; o ; < 333

OMG THEY'RE ADORABLE!

Thanks :') !

I love their design so much ! ♥ Their outfit is amazing and it suits them perfectly. A very respectable character who takes their position seriously this is the type of character I particularly appreciate because I kinda see myself in them: always following the rules.  I really got to read all of your characters' bios to know them better, you have greatly developed OCs out there !

Thank you so much!! Merrill's design is definitely one of my personal faves for the virtue of combining my two big biases: freckles and "small and kind of aggressive" type haha

First of all I want to tell you that I adore your writing style! It's really good, clear and pleasent to read!

Second of all, Merill is a really really well writin charachter. I have a weakspot for time related and time traveling characters, to start with. Merill is very rounded, and got many good weak and good points too . them and flaws man 👌

I love their dynamics with the rest of the group, how they evolve and learn how to live in this new future with ease but still hold their old traditions to heart ❤️

They have this certain vibe going on that I really adore(also the colours in the design are great!!) I love that you gave them a reason to have a sword with them all te time and that their gender doesnt make up any issues. Just as i say befire, they are so well writing holy heck 👌 their last words and that small detail of timetravel is heartbreaking (and clever written)

Aaah thank you so much! I always write my profiles pretty fast and they tend to be full of typos and stuff so I'm glad it's still enjoyable haha!

I love Merrill's interactions with others because it's so clear they're from different times + Nicholas and Henri both deal with paranormal whereas Merill is a human with no previous experience of such things! Although admittedly she is the type who gets used to things almost disturbingly fast, proven by how easy it was for her to just walk around even with her uniform on lmao. I like to think especially the sword is a proof of her position as a soldier and something she is incredibly proud of so Merrill carries it always with her + they're basically the only things she has to remind her of her own time and people she holds dear!

And yeah I have a lot of characters who don't fit the binary or are non-confirming and I really enjoy the idea that in many of my fantasy settings that's also perfectly alright or at least not made into a big deal! Sadly hostilities do exist like how it's seen with Nicholas, but it's a complicated social issue not only tied to sex/gender!

THANK YOU and I'm so happy you think that way!! Merrill is definitely supposed to be a character more on the funny than serious side, like they take their position seriously and all that but they're... honestly ridiculous regardless of the time like even their fellow soldiers think Merrill is a mess but in an endearing way. Sometimes Nicholas and Henri physically have to stop Merrill from embarrassing the whole group by appearing in their outdated uniform like please.... please we're begging you just please put something normal on for this once, we need to avoid attracting attention!!!

but yeah omg thank you so much your comment honestly made me really happy ! ; o ; < 3
