On the surface, Markus Felidae is a pretty average teenager. Prone to grumpiness, poor decisions, and deeply annoying tastes in media. But dig a little deeper, and you’ll find things don’t quite add up. This is what they’ve been finding, too.

While primarily resembling those of a Feline persuasion, they seem to house many oddities about themselves as well. Gecko-like string-bead pupils, feathers sprouting from their cheeks and chest, an inability to retract their claws, and a long, serpentine tail that balls up at the end like a shiba-inu. Talk about mixed. But, none of that alone proves something strange is going on– That’s where their other suspicions begin to factor in.

Their sister, Lupus, of no blood relation, is perfectly normal, if a bit dim– And she is treated as such by their adoptive mother, Miao. Lupus goes to school, gets vaccinated in a doctor’s office rather than the back room of the local inn, and is allowed to roam free. Markus, on the other hand, has barely been allowed to leave the borders of their hometown, Cliffside. And no amount of asking why gets a straight answer.

Markus knows that Lupus and Miao’s parents both perished in the accident at the nearby research facility, and, presumably as did theirs too… But, it seems no-one is willing to talk. So, what is there to do?
