elijah is a sarcastic yet good-intentioned young boy who has lived in louisiana his whole life. he lives with his family in the same neighborhood as hattie-lynn, annie, and many others. elijah also attends marguerite elementary along with hattie and 'the twins'. elijah comes off as 'sassy' and 'judgemental', but he is quite liked by his peers, and seen as a good example with potential to do great things.

elijah is described as: loyal, caring, intelligent, defient and dramatic.
elijah is perceived as jokingly sassy, yet is still seen as a role model by others. his peers love to talk to him, and trust his advice, yet he loves to joke, and his sarcasm takes teachers and friends aback. when he's not around others, he often takes time to reflect, and plans on becoming a better person eachday. while he is naturally optimistic and care-free, sometimes, under the rare circumstances he does get angry, can snap under pressure and go after others weak spots, then makes petty effort to avoid them until he is ready to make up his mind and apologize. he always apologizes, yet when he himself gets hurt, he will wait for an apology and is not afraid to call others out on their petty behavior as well.
history
elijah was born and raised in louisiana, living with his mom, dad, little sister lola, and his grandma. living in the same neighborhood as his friendgroup, they often go on crazy adventures and learn new things together through their childhood in the early 2000's.
elijah and his family often go to the coast for breaks and long weekend. he also plays tennis at the local community house in bonhuer, and often cooks with his grandmother from new orleans. he is very on top of his grades and his favorite class is english, yet when he is not in school, he spends a lot of his time entertaining his little sister with wacky stories and scenes from school plays; he also brings her to play with the friendgroup.
after hattie-lynn left in 2011 and the friend group disbanded, elijah ended middle school completely differently than how he started as a straight a student. unlike hattie-lynn, he joined a accepting friend group where he felt he had more incommon with others. but, he also began getting very serious about sports, and im attempts to help, his friends began selling him illegal substances that would 'calm him down'. he never thought much of it, but in highschool he realized that this habit could get out of hand, and quit. the lessons he did learn from that friend-group, like crystals, insense and other 'hippie' stuff still stuck with him throughout highschool, and he is still a firm beliver in the future.
now, in his early twenties, he has ended up moving to the louisiana coast, and currently works at an açai bowl place in between college classes. in his free-time, he is often found on the beach. elijah has come to terms with his highschool years and belives in his carefree mindset even more now that he has overcome those challenges. he is much more easy-going and less uptight than in his younger years. elijah also happened to be the first person from bonheur that hattie-lynn reached out too, setting the stage for the reunited arc.

the two are very close and they often go to a familiar jazz club that his grandma is quite popular in for playing the piano back in the day.

relationships
ever since meeting, hattie-lynn and elijah quickly became friends. elijah was her buddy on her first day of school, and she felt the two of them would get along great. their relationship becomes much more complex over the years; like how they would keep in touch through letters, and form a deeper bond in the reunited arc. hattie admires his work-ethic and humor, and elijah admires hattie's spunk and curiosity.
hattie-lynn introduced elijah to annie after school one day in the late-fall. elijah first saw annie as awfully quiet, and even a little intimidating, but after their 'first adventure' together, wading in a creek, elijah saw annie's outdoor knowledge and wits put to use. elijah admires annie's passion and smarts, and annie admires elijah's defiance and talents.
after meeting annie, she quickly introduced him to her childhood best-friend dean. the two are core opposites, but that didn't stop the two from getting into wild shenanigans like most boys their age do. the two would often get in trouble together, and this would usually result in elijah blaming dean, and dean calling elijah out, leaving many confused on the two's relationship.
