Rivers is the acting sheriff in Lakes's absence, she primarily mans the jail and dispenses Valentine's bounties, though she usually insists the more troublesome criminals are delivered to a larger city, or implies she would prefer it if he simply killed them. She is rather chilly, getting along just fine with other women but actively despising men. She is no crueler to Valentine than she is to any other man that goes near her.
Rivers takes a lot of pleasure in her position of power, often threatening arrest when she gets irritated.
