Personality
It is no secret that James thinks quite highly of himself. He is radiant and proud, with strong desire to be the center of attention. He is given to clever witticisms and insightful zingers and enjoys delivering them, especially when they are deserved. He also cares a great deal about his appearance and will spare no effort (or expense) when it comes to maintaining it. He exercises regularly, closely monitors his diet, and strictly adheres to a thorough set of skin and hair care routines. Any time there is even a slight flaw in his appearance, he becomes distraught and disgusted. He seeks recognition more than most, and is willing to push himself to the limit in order to achieve it.
Because he enjoys basking in the limelight, one might assume that James isn’t hard-working. This judgment couldn’t be further from the truth, however. James is hugely ambitious and opportunistic, not to mention resourceful and productive. Despite his overconfident ways and his need to be pampered, he respects hard work and is willing to shoulder more than his share of the responsibility. Though his flippant and selfish demeanor might give off the impression that he doesn't care much for others, his pride and confidence are largely a bluff to cover his own struggles and insecurities, as he doesn’t like to appear vulnerable in front of others. Beneath his flamboyant exterior, James would be mortified if anyone ever knew how hard he tries or how vulnerable he feels.
Though he has a reputation for being arrogant, vain, self-aggrandizing, and histrionic, James has a heart of gold. In spite of his snarky nature, he is supportive of his friends, offering sound advice when called upon. Although he can be demanding, he values loyalty and will return it in kind.

Skills
Powers & Abilities
A Conductor’s special abilities take the form of both magical powers (such as teleportation and weapon summoning) and physical enhancements (such as herculean strength and superhuman speed). These abilities, whether they are magical in nature or not, can only be used as long as the Conductor has a sufficient supply of Gold Dust, which is stored in special whistles.
Conductors also gain the ability to magically teleport from place to another, by dispersing their physical forms to collect again and reform in a new location. While this is by far the the fastest way to get to a desired location, doing so requires a considerable amount of Gold Dust, so it is generally used sparingly. It also notoriously easy to accidentally teleport to the wrong location if one is unable to fully concentrate on where they want to go.

Thomas
Coworker, friend
While James and Thomas enjoy each other's company, they often subconsciously compete for center stage. Both are highly competitive and brimming with confidence, and they delight in egging each other on. Apart from the occasional outbursts of ego, however, James cares a great deal about Thomas and can be very protective of him under the right circumstances.
Percy

James just loves pushing Percy's buttons. Not in a mean-spirited way, but more akin to how an older sibling will pick on the younger one. While he doesn't mean to be hurtful, Percy's sensitive nature makes it all too easy to get a rise out of him, and James often doesn't realize he's crossed a line until it's too late. For all his bluster, James can't bear to see the little guy genuinely upset, and will usually bend over backwards to try and make things right.
Gordon
coworker
James and Gordon mix about as well as oil and water. These two are constantly trying to one-up each other, and when they lock horns, neither one gives an inch. Though James would never admit it, he actually holds a great deal of respect and admiration for Gordon, and part of why he challenges him so much could simply be out of a desire to be seen as an equal. James also really wishes that Gordon would just get laid already, and isn't shy about telling him this.
Henry

James' bombastic personality often clashes with Henry's more reclusive nature, and they initially did not have the highest opinion of each other (James saw Henry as a spineless bootlicker, and Henry saw James as an egomaniacal twit). Surprisingly, however, they actually get along quite well for the most part. Though James still likes to push Henry's buttons, they mesh well due to their shared sardonic wit and frequent use of sarcasm. They like to keep each other up-to-date on the latest gossip at work.
Edward

At a glance, it would seem that James holds little respect for Edward. He often berates him for his advanced age, calling him "Old Iron" as a form of mockery. However, much to James' bewilderment, Edward doesn't seem all that bothered by his remarks. Rather than stooping to his level of pettiness, Edward instead meets James' callousness with compassion and understanding, which flusters James at times. Moments of genuine anger from Edward are so rare, that when they do happen, James knows well enough to back off.
Emily
ex-girlfriend
While their chemistry was undeniable, James and Emily often brought out the worst in each other, and their relationsip suffered as a result. Prior to their separation, they had been together for a little over a year and were making plans to move in together. Emily cites James' insecurity and jealous tendencies as the primary reason for their breakup, though James vehemently refutes this. While they are on civil terms nowadays, there remains an air of tension between the two.
