Personality
Gordon is efficient, industrious, and authoritative. He is strict with both himself and others, holding himself to the highest possible standards of conduct. Though he prides himself on his refined sensibilities and dignified persona, Gordon is prone to bragging and can be quite the showoff under the right circumstances. He may at times act the part of a martyr who’s compelled to put up with the inadequacies of others, but those who are closest to him know that his bark is far worse than his bite.
Gordon has a deep sense of purpose. Taking time off feels like breaking stride to him, which makes it hard for him to relax. Despite gruff exterior, however, he is ultimately good-hearted. He displays a chivalrous demeanor that isn’t just for show, readily using his superior strength to help those in need. Contrary to his claims, he treasures his friends and colleagues deeply. His harshness is largely a bluff, and is often interlaced with an overbearing fussiness and perfectionism that renders him unable to sit back and watch while others fail.
Gordon is a systematic man, and often organizes his mind through a callous and scientific method-- not because he is unemotional, but because he is defined by practicality, rationality, and analysis. Additionally, Gordon also has a strong sense of privacy, propriety, and emotional reserve. This might make him appear uncaring, but this couldn't be farther from the truth. Gordon admires his colleagues for their accomplishments and sympathizes with them for their troubles. He’s not unkind, but he is uncomfortable with emotional displays. Furthermore, despite his posturing, Gordon is not the most socially adept. He is meticulous, disciplined, and formal, and while these things constitute his strengths (i.e. leadership and strategizing), they are not typical of socially skilled people.

Skills
Powers & Abilities
A Conductor’s special abilities take the form of both magical powers (such as teleportation and weapon summoning) and physical enhancements (such as herculean strength and superhuman speed). These abilities, whether they are magical in nature or not, can only be used as long as the Conductor has a sufficient supply of Gold Dust, which is stored in special whistles.
Conductors also gain the ability to magically teleport from place to another, by dispersing their physical forms to collect again and reform in a new location. While this is by far the the fastest way to get to a desired location, doing so requires a considerable amount of Gold Dust, so it is generally used sparingly. It also notoriously easy to accidentally teleport to the wrong location if one is unable to fully concentrate on where they want to go.
Biography
Gordon was born to Sir Nigel Gresley and his wife Lady Ethel Gresley (nee Fullager), and is the second oldest of six. Being a scion of Sodor's youngest and possibly wealthiest noble house, he bears the burden of generations of expectation. His grandfather began adulthood as a small trader, and his uncanny business acumen afforded the family a great deal of prosperity. Where he had started as a young man with a case of simple goods, he soon became a Baronet with titles, businesses, banks, and vast mining operations under his purview. While normally a title and lands would only be awarded in recognition of some great deed, the Gresleys have essentially bought their way into the aristocracy.
As one would expect, Gordon recieved top-notch education and training during his youth. While he would inevitably develop certain habits, tastes, and prejudices due to his privileged background, he is by no means the kind of sheltered individual those of his class often turn out to be.
Gordon's older brother, Scott, felt the weight of responsibility on his shoulders from an early age. The heir to a new house with much to prove, he was expected to maintain and increase the Gresley's wealth and influence. The pressure of this new position, however, proved to be too much, and he abandoned his family home to pursue his true passion. While this was all well and good for Scott, it placed a large and unexpected burden on Gordon. Within a few scant weeks of his brother's clandestine departure, Gordon was already named heir to the house. His noble bearing and aristocratic air, combined with his obsessive pursuit of perfection made him increasingly aloof. He had no real friends and few acquaintances. They would mean distractions- one thing he could not afford.

Relationships
Thomas
Coworker
Few people test Gordon's patience quite like Thomas. While he does, at least on some level, admire Thomas' passion and drive, his impetuous attitude and cheeky antics frustrate him to no end. He feels as though Thomas does not take his job seriously, and he is not shy about voicing his criticisms. However, while Gordon's critiques are often more harsh than they need to be, they do stem from a genuine desire to help Thomas improve. Unfortunately, this "tough love" approach often has... Mixed results, to say the least.
Percy
coworker
There is an air of tension between Gordon and Percy, due in large part to Gordon's incessent criticism of nearly everything Percy does. Initially, he simply believed that Percy was too sensitive-- after all, it's not his fault that he takes everything personally. However, he did eventually start making a more concerted effort to dial it back a bit. Secretly, Gordon does appreciate Percy's dilligence and admires his hard work. But he can't tell him that, obviously. Otherwise he'll get a big head about it.
James
coworker
Gordon and James are certainly a mixed bag. While Gordon recognizes James as a capable person, he finds his personality truly insufferable at times. Ironically, though, the two of them actually have quite a bit in common underneath the surface. They have similar values, an appreciation for physical comfort, a shared work ethic, and a frequently reinforced belief in the healing power of booze. When they're not competing with one another, they actually get along quite well.
Henry
coworker, friend
Henry is one of Gordon's oldest friends. They've known each other since they were children, and Henry is one of the few people who Gordon feels comfortable confiding in. Despite their shared history, however, Gordon's emotional constipation causes him to put up walls (often without him even realizing it). He may not push Henry away, per se, but he does tend to keep him at arms legnth. Because of this, their friendship can seem a bit one-sided.
Edward
coworker
Though Gordon frequently expresses doubt in Edwards abilities, his reliability and unwavering dedication to his work has earned Gordon's clandestine respect. That being said, he does believe that Edward is much too soft at times, particularly when it comes to his treatment of Thomas and Percy. While he does not approve of Edward "coddling" them, he recognizes that his gentler touch can be helpful at times.
Scott
family
Gordon has a somewhat complicated relationship with his older brother. While the two of them were close as children, he resents Scott for abandoning him, especially since his leaving the family meant that Gordon had to take over as the heir to the house, which is something he never wanted in the first place. Despite his bitterness, however, part of Gordon secretly admires Scott for having the courage to leave. If their situations were reversed, Gordon can't be sure he wouldn't have done the same.
Rebecca
family
Gordon's teenaged niece, who is currently staying with him while her mother is in the hospital. Though he cares for Rebecca, he remains somewhat emotionally distant, and doesn't really interact with her beyond making sure her basic needs are met. He wants to keep her safe, and worries that he'll be putting her in danger by allowing her to get close to him, due to the nature of his work.
