Bai Qingyue's Links
Somehow, Qingyue's most troublesome student is also the leader of the Golden Deer house. Despite the fact that this student is insufferably nitpicky, generally disrespectful, and consistently riling up other students, it's Qingyue's duty to not give up on him. It is really, REALLY hard not to give up on Ataraxia... He does sort of relate to the kid, though. They both seem to be quite unfit for their positions...
WRONG. Wrong wrong wrong. The only one with half a brain when it comes to Agarthan technology, but even still it's too complex for puny human minds to comprehend. He'd almost feel bad... but it's too funny correcting them and watching the professor get flustered.
Qingyue would really like to get to know Asterot better. The man has an air of natural loftiness, and he seems to capture the attention of a room just by stepping inside. It's even stranger that he doesn't seem to have any prior experience, just like Qingyue. It's as if he came to the church with the perfect formula to teach, yet he shrugs off students every chance he gets. He's sort of an idol for Qingyue, despite them not talking much. Sometimes, Qingyue brings Asterot peace offerings of Dagdan brew. Somehow, the man seems nowhere near as intimidating when he's drunk.
While Asterot would prefer to ignore most people in Garreg Mach, he's come to tolerate Qingyue. He's a pretty pathetic man, but it's almost endearing. He reminds Asterot of a hamster. If he needs to trade some of his time for Qingyue's food and drink, it isn't too much of an inconvenience.
Delara is Qingyue's favorite student - With the competition, it's not a hard role to get... Despite this, his fragile constitution makes it so that he stays out of range of her most of the time. At least she's fun to listen to if she's disrupting class! At least she gets good grades in her combat classes! It could be much worse..
TEACH! He's funny and cute. She feels bad sometimes when he's trying to rein the class in, but when it's HER disruptions she doesn't even notice half the time. She's thrown a desk at Ottavius and Ataraxia before, and threw a wink and two finger guns at Bai Qingyue like she was 'on his side'. The ancient tech stuff really goes in one ear and out the other, but it really lulls her to sleep just right...
She seems like a fine member of the church. Poor taste, though...
This teacher is foolish and makes for a wonderful scapegoat. To distance herself from the messages she sends, Secret Admirer likes to first give her information to well-meaning church members who are willing to pass around love letters. Strangely, when she gives letters intended for Eden, Qingyue doesn't react at all. When she gave one intended for Ataraxia, though, the teacher's face soured and he refused to hand off the letter at all... It's really a trouble to find other secure ways to pass on information, this teacher is too troubling...
Qingyue took an interest in Valax since they first arrived with Asterot, mostly just because of their connection with the man. After all, it took him ages to warm up to Asterot, so it's genuinely shocking to see Asterot speak up to defend someone. It makes him feel like he's actually lost his mind to see the Second-in-Command pet someone's hair. Valax is quiet around Qingyue, letting him rave for as long as he'd like. This is an exceedingly rare opportunity, considering the volume of Garreg Mach's halls on any day. Qingyue wouldn't go as far as saying they're friends by any means, but their company is a welcome break from his usual trials.
Qingyue is his dad's best friend (not that that's saying much) and is also kind of a doormat, so Valax likes to spend time with him sometimes. He's a really interesting guy, in his own way - he just doesn't show it. Valax is one of the only people who will listen to his longwinded stories, flipping through a tome or doodling while he explains structure after structure, setback after setback. It's kind of just background noise, but that doesn't seem to hamper Qingyue's excitement at all... Valax has half a mind to ask the students of the Golden Deer to quiet down during class time to let the man lecture in the actual classroom, but after looking through the window one morning, they decided against it. Beyond that, they decided against visiting the Deer again at all. Too much!
Not a bad student! Not bad at all! Disinterest is better than distraction! If Qingyue pours all the resources he wastes on the students who actively dislike the class into the few who are ambivalent, maybe he can turn the class averages around and win a training exercise...
Teach? He's cool. Ves doesn't pay too close attention to his lessons, but he doesn't talk over him. Usually he just sits in the back, balancing his pencil on his fingers... but sometimes, he hangs around after class and gets a little help with his homework.
Qingyue is always happy to see Reichert. Honestly, even among the people who listen to his lectures, Reichert seems like the only one who is actually interested in the content... Qingyue is usually a bit of a wreck around the residents of Garreg Mach, but he doesn't feel quite as nervous around Reichert. Reichert's laugh is so charming, Qingyue barely cares if he hears it because of his own embarrassing stories. They often take tea together, which Qingyue always enjoys - There's only one issue. Qingyue is constantly overthinking every interaction they have once it's finished... Is this rare, handmade gift commissioned from an artisan... Friendly...? Is it normal for your fellow staff member to blow off students to have tea with you?? Sothis, do the people of Fodlan invite people to go dancing platonically??? Really, it's tortuous! But at the same time, Reichert is definitely his best friend either way! No matter what, Qingyue should stick with it and act as casual as possible. Just... act... casual...
Bai Qingyue, yes, yes! What a wonderful friend, one he'd always love to keep close. He felt guilty at first- befriending him for the fact that he is so fascinated by the land he originates from- but now he's grateful for his initial selfishness. He has... a delicate soul. Qingyue is often very receptive to other peoples' opinions on him and his work, and when he smiled the first time in their private discussions... well... how could he not keep coming back? Don't worry students, he's not sharing any secret strategies with the other house leaders... perhaps he should be a little more introspective and become aware of just how often he'd spend their tea-times, elbow on the table, hand propping up his cheek and a lidded smile listening to him for tens of minutes. Things he says, of course, make him laugh... but the sound of his voice, well... ah. Ahem. Y-yes, a lovely friend, indeed.
