Personality

Loyal and protective, if Ace comes to care about you you wouldn't have anyone better by your side. Though that protectiveness can sometimes come up as being stubborn or even clingy at times. Though despite this he will give space if need be. And he will do anything he can to help reassure his friends when they get down.

At times Ace can be pushed around when people are already angry, as he doesn't really want to contribute to fighting, which sometimes would cause more problems than it helps. But he just wants to help out those he considers friends.

Relationships

Maple

Sometimes Ace can be a bit confused by Maple's antics and logic, but he does his best to support her in whatever she does. He does care about her a lot, even considering her his first friend, and he'll do anything to keep her safe.

Alli

[Friend]

Ace respects Alli's skill in fighting, and appreciates someone a bit older being on the team to help everyone out. He tends to not care for how she sometimes babies others on the team, but is sure to tell her to back off if it comes to that.

Cabbage

[Friend]

At first, Ace mainly just felt a little pity for Cabbage. him being the youngest on the team, he can tell it's a little obvious that some of the others look down on him a lot. Ace tries to balance that out by encouraging him instead, letting him take charge in battle sometimes. And he also like to take Cabbage to train him himself sometimes.

Sean

[Teammate]

Frankly, Ace doesn't really like Sean that much. He tolerates him on the team at best, and argues with him a lot at worst. He doesn't really understand why Maple and Alli are insistent on him staying on the team, but at the very least he can respect Sean's knowledge of battle that makes him reliable.

Mitzi

[Friend]

Ace hasn't talked to Mitzi a whole lot, but he finds her to be the slightest bit of an annoyance, yet someone great to have on the team. He sees her with knowledge and skills that are useful and unique to help out the team.

Charcoal

[Friend]

Ace sees Charcoal as really good in battle, and feels like he can rely on her for fights. Though he doesn't know a whole lot about her yet to assess how close they could be.

STORY

(Spoilers Ahead!)

Backstory

Ace has always been part of the wild since he was born. He thought he was happy that way, just being on his own for the most part for his entire life.

That is unitl one day a strange Mudkip ran into him. Quite literally. This little mudkip, named Maple, explained to Ace that she was headed to the Oldale town pokemon center to register as a trainer. Ace, understandably had a few questions. But eventually learned that she was determined to make it happen.

During the Comic

More out of curiousity than anything, Ace decided to go with her, being her first teammate. And now he travels around with her, supporting her in her endeavors.

Ace has been pretty enthusiastic about the group so far, joining in with fights, or encouraging others who are fighting. He wishes he could participate in gym battles more, but he doesn't say that to Maple.

Once the group got to Slateport City, they noticed team Magma inside the Oceanic Museum. Maple decided to lead the group inside to try and do something about that. Ace ended up fighting against one of the grunts to help save Maple, and he ended up evolving from that battle.

After leaving Slateport, Ace even helped out Cabbage, who was having some of his own personal struggles, and he wanted to help the shroomish realize his true potential. Even agreeing to let him fight in the next gym battle in Mauville. And while he didn't fight in the Mauville gym, help Cabbage and encouraged him to keep going.
