Personality
Maple is a friendly and outgoing pokemon, always looking to make friends, but also always ready to fight if need be. Though despite her friendly nature, she tends to have some confidence issues, and feels like she isn't good enough as a trainer for her team. Often she can need reassurance to keep her from being discouraged to follow her passions when things get rough.
Maple can at times struggle with conflict resolution, where she can fight in pokemon battles well, but tends to not be able to solve verbal fights well, often needing someone else to step in.
Pokémon Team

Ace was Maple's first teammate and friend when she set out on her journey. While he was slightly skeptical of her ideas, after seeing her fight he agreed to go with her. The two eventually found themselves getting along pretty well, with him always sticking by Maple's side

Maple was almost instantly interested in Alli's more gentle and kind nature when she first joined the team. Even admiring her skill in battle along with that. She does appreciate having someone older as well, oftentimes coming up to her for advice.

Maple had, originally mixed feelings about Cabbage. The guy only agreed to join the team if one of them could beat him in a fight, and Maple thought he was a little too hot headed and ready to fight anything. She seems to enjoy his company still though, encouraging him to get stronger like he wants.

Sean didn't seem to like Maple at first, and he often says he was only on the team to watch it fail. But Maple never gave up on him, and still welcomes him on the team, even despite his very negative disposition.

Mitzi likes Maple a bit, and think she's cute, and enjoys her idea of the journey. Yet Maple seems a bit Naive to Mitzi. Yet still Maple seems to appreciate Mitzi helping out the team even in the short time she's been on it. Even if not always getting her teasing.

Maple looks up to Charcoal a lot, seeming to want to learn a lot from her. And Charcoal, while she doesn't feel exactly like she's as wise as the others think she is, is willing to teach Maple what she knows. Charcoal seems to realize Maple needs some advice to get through her journey.
Other Relationships
Xander
[Friend/Rivals?]
Maple grew up in Birch's lab where Xander lived. From growing up with the kid, she grew a bit attached to him, and considers him a friend. Xander even helped her when she started learning to speak. Though when she escaped, Xander was told by his dad to bring her back. Maple is willing to put the friendship aside if it meant her freedom, she just wishes Xander would be happy for her instead of trying to stop her.
Cameron

Maple mainly feels bad for Cameron. With him being a team Magma grunt, he's often ordered to do things that involve thievery. Maple can tell he doesn't seem enthusiastic about what he's doing. And she just wants to know his motivations for why he would stay in a team like that.
STORY
(Spoilers Ahead!)
Backstory
Maple was born in the lab of Littleroot town in Hoenn. She was bred to specifically be a starter pokemon, given by Professor Birch to new trainers. Though Maple had other ideas of what she wanted. She was fascinated by the things humans do, and taught herself how to read, and even speak english to communicate with people. She learned about pokemon trainers, and was interested in them. But she didn't just want a trainer, she wanted to be a pokemon trainer.
Unfortunately, Maple wasn't ever let outside. Due to some health conditions as well as near constant night terrors Professor Birch didn't let her out. Maple got very antsy, and was upset that she couldn't go out and live the dream she wanted.
During the Comic
So one day Maple decided to escape from the lab, and in using a loophole in the pokemon trainer rules, was able to get her trainer liscense and start her journey, even fighting alongside the mons she called her team. Many didn't take her seriously at first, especially Professor Birch's son Xander, who was tasked to bring her back. But through her determination and reassurance from her friends, she was able to prove others wrong.
Maple has seemed fine on her travels, though ever since touching a weird mural in granite cave, she's been plauged by weird visions, and part of her wants to keep going to just see what they mean.
Maple has had more encounters with Team Magma now, and learned a bit of their cruelty in this world. And she's met Team Magma's leader Maxie, and she gets a weird feeling from him, though she's not sure what it means. But she decided to ignore it for now, as she continues on her journey, now with three badges in hand and about to head out for the fourth. Despite the continual team Magma dangers, and her own nightmares plaguing her, she presses on, though with less confidence than she had before.
