Youngest daughter of Finnian Masayoshi and Allura Berti—Nanette is one of the Princesses of Candor. She is the King and Queen’s lesser known daughter, all eyes focusing on her older sister instead. If I’m being quite blunt, this is honestly for the best at the end of the day. The people of the nation would most likely be absolutely horrified with her and her actions.

Not like she’d care either way.

Two words—chaotic evil. Nanette is the King and Queen’s ultimate problem child, and she causes these problems on purpose. In fact, she almost drove her older brother’s car into one of the castle’s fountains once. She is a girl that is clearly bored to death both easily and way too often, constantly scheming of ways to willingly cause issues in order to get a quick laugh. In a way, it gives her a heavy hit of dopamine. She’s a true blue trouble maker, starting and finishing fights while also goading people into them from the sidelines. Every action she takes is deliberate and thought out for the sake of her own amusement.

Most people label her as unnecessarily mean, and they are absolutely correct in doing so. She is sarcastic, cruel, and loves to put other people down for anything and everything. All of this is calculated on her part however. She’s seen how her childhood friends were treated by other people their age growing up. Nanette is nasty because it’s better to make people dislike you yourself rather than to see them gradually do so for no reason other than who you are related to. It’s an odd coping mechanism that she has grown way too accustomed to over time. She eventually grows out of it, but it takes her a good while.

Admittedly, most of her acting out in general is just a way to get the attention of her mother, who spends all her time focusing on Nanette’s older sister. Nanette has all the attention in the world from her father and she appreciates it, but it’s just not the same. It does kind of get to her at times, which only makes her even more heinous towards others. Shockingly, the only person she confides in regarding the situation is Brenton, who probably understands the most. Despite all of her picking on him, she lets her guard down around him the most.

Nanette isn’t completely heartless, she does have a softer side that her peers rarely see. It’s like spotting a cryptid in a way. In fact, the only reason Carson even got into Neoma Academy was because she convinced her father to enroll him there and pay for his tuition. When people actually notice and point out these self described “moments of weakness”, she gets extremely visibly and audibly embarrassed—rejecting the notion. Quite the tsundere move there, girlie.

Balance Manipulation

Race related. A descendant of whats known to the masses as Divine Dragons, Nanette is a fifth generation Balance Dragon. Being a Balance Dragon means that the person is able to achieve perfect balance and harmony with themself and the fundamental forces of the realm—wielding control over them at will. What does that mean exactly? Well, Balance Dragons possess the ability to manipulate opposing forces simultaneously—darkness and light, creation and destruction, etc. They quite literally can bend reality and create illusions, making opposing forces coexist in perfect harmony, this making them compatible beyond conventional limits. Fun fact though, Nanette can’t do most of this shit! Surprise! She is a fifth generation Balance Dragon after all, so her dragon blood is heavily diluted. As a result, she can’t really do all of what some earlier generations of her family can. Instead, her powers are limited to the most basic aspect of alchemy—equivalent exchange. She can create things but cannot make something from nothing, having to give up something of equal value in exchange. To Nanette, this is lame. To her father, it’s a sigh of relief.

Dragon Form

Race related. Usually, Dragons with heavily diluted blood can no longer shift between forms like previous generations of their family. However considering the fact that Nanette is a Divine Dragon, it doesn’t apply to her. At least, for the most part. Dragons without diluted blood inherently know how to shift between their two forms right from birth with ease. For diluted Balance Dragons, it is instead an ability learned once of proper age and requires a lot of meditation and training. It is something Nanette finally learns how to do during the events of Soldier, Poet, King.

Way of the Axe

A skill learned during the events of Soldier, Poet, King. Nanette has always been fascinated by sharp weapons, eagerly watching as Fiona Kokkinos trained the kingdom guards growing up. Nanettes parents never really allowed her to dabble in this sort of thing, knowing she’d be a danger to others. The exception to this was fencing. Anyways, she learned how to use an axe from Esther Graf during her early twenties. There’s a nice weight to the weapon that she enjoys.
