Kyoko Ikeru
About
The Evoker’s Child of the Heart—Kyoko Ikeru dawns a mask both figuratively and literally. After the death of her mother, Kyoko’s grandfather ingrained one task and one task alone into her mind: hunt down and kill Matin Arian. To Touma Ikeru, it is Kyoko’s one and only purpose as a member of their family. Over a decade in the making, it is a heavy burden to bare.
Broken glass rarely becomes whole again, after all.
Personality
After the death of her mother at the age of two, Kyoko was the perfect porcelain doll for her grandfather to mold into the warrior her mother never was. Touma wanted to go a different route this time around. So, he took a very sweet little girl who was shy to the bone and turned her into this blank, emotionless slate. At least, that is how Kyoko appears on the outside—repressing all unnecessary emotions. In fact, the only emotions she really shows outwardly are indifference, annoyance, and anger. Outsiders will never see her sweat.
It’s only natural that she comes off pretty dull personality wise in the eyes of most people as a result. However, the very few who have gotten to know her on a deeper level are well aware of the world of emotions lying beneath the surface. In reality, Kyoko is a painfully sad young woman who is overrun by sorrow and loss. Yes, her blank slate was ingrained into her by her grandfather, but she is the one willingly keeping it up after years of being away from home in fear that she may break and never recover. It is quite literally a defense mechanism for her at this point.
Despite all the heartache, Kyoko is still a compassionate and empathetic woman who always strives to better herself. When she grows to care about someone, that person can genuinely feel it regardless of how she presents otherwise. That and she tries her best to protect the innocent who cannot defend themselves, especially those who are younger than her. Regardless, Kyoko is very insistent that she isn’t a good person by any means, but the few constant people in her life would heavily disagree with her.
Kyoko also has very good instincts as a warrior. Not only is she light on her feet, but she is quick thinking as well—being able to adapt to any and every situation with ease. She fights with a ruthlessness that can only be described as frightening. I pity the people who willingly choose to go up against her in a fight.
Likes
Apples
Both the fruit as well as anything apple flavored. Double points if they're in pastries.
Miss Geneva
A stuffed peacock plush gifted to her by her mother's friend, Amelio.
Rainy Days
They're such a cozy vibe.
Card Games
Kyoko is unironically really good at them. So much so that casinos hate her.
The Color Purple
It's super pretty!
Dislikes
Matin Arian
This is kind of a given considering he sort of killed her mother. Fathers, am I right?
Open Flames
Kyoko barely survived a house fire, so she's naturally uncomfortable around them.
Seina Ikeru
Who do you think set the house on fire?
Her Eyes
Their gold color reminds her way too much of her father. It's too much some days.
Nattō
Most Ikerus love it. She is the exception.
Abilities
Combat Knowledge
Something her grandfather ingrained in her. Considering her current career and goals, she didn't mind it all too much. Touma really whipped her into shape. Kyoko is extremely good at improvising with most weapons, practical or otherwise, but she especially has an affinity for the naginata. Hand to hand combat is a strong suit of hers as well.
Lock Picking
Something she picked up during her travels. At a certain point it became something she desperately needed to learn. At the end of the day, there are only so many windows you can break. Plus, it's not really the most subtle way to force your way into a building.
First Aid Knowledge
In her field of business, it is an absolute necessity to learn. An assassin can't exactly visit the hospital with horrible wounds without being questioned on how they had gotten it, after all. Some things she learned from her grandfather before leaving, others she learned herself during her travels.
Ceramic Skills
One of the very few things she has allowed herself to do for fun. Kyoko picked this hobby up when she first moved to the City of Aveuglant, her roommates having a pottery night at their flat. Long story short, she grew fond of the activity and started taking proper classes. She's honestly really good! In fact, she made both her and Carson's masks back when the two of them used to work for Baek-Hyun.
Painting Skills
Kyoko has always had a swift and delicate hand. She was lost for a long time while still young, so Toma made her persue this hobby as a result. She's not the most fond of it, but she's pretty good at it regardless. Not to mention it manages to come in handy when wanting to paint her pottery.

Trivia
- She actively deepens her voice when speaking outloud or to others. Yes, that means she does it all the time. Kyoko hasn't used her real voice since the age of thirteen.
- Kyoko only has two items from Amelio Serrano—her peacock plushie, Miss Geneva, and an intricate dagger that is both thin and jeweled. Now, she doesn't remember the man by any means, but was positive that he was a kindhearted one who looked out for her mother.
- She managed to pick up vaping once spending more time in city settings. Not Kyoko's proudest habit by any means, but it is what it is. When she's not enjoying an apple flavored one, she can be found smoking one that is peach flavored.
- Kyoko has been to a plethora of different places during her travels searching for Matin, but her favorite country by far is Shareef. She has made the most friends there and despite its conservative views, finds its people very welcoming.
