Catie The Cat

Catie was the third child born into a very loving, but struggling family   in Africa. Before Catie was born her parents weren’t sure if they  could  support another child, but Catie was born the thought was to   heartbreaking to even consider it.

Unlike some of her friends,   Catie’s childhood was rather normal. When Catie was seven and her  sister  Sarah eight the two got into an argument, over what neither of  them  remember, but Catie got so angry she pushed Sarah into a ditch and   somehow Sarah broke her foot, this is something that Catie still  regrets  to this day, because she hates seeing others especially people  she  loves in pain, so she swore she would always do her best to help  others  and not hurt them in anyway.

When she was ten Catie’s  father got  a better job offer, however it was in Japan, half way across  the world.  While that was good for the family as a whole, since they  wouldn’t be  up to their necks in bills and dept, this was devastating  news for Catie  for she had to say goodbye to her bestrides Shelby and  Abbie, but the  three promised to stay in contact despite the different  time zones.

Unlike  her siblings the move was very difficult for  Catie for she was shy and a  bit awkward and had a harder time making  friends while her brother and  sister made friends instantly. The other  girls at Catie’s new school  (which was a school for kids like her who  grew up in other countries to  learn about the Japanese culture and  language) would bully Catie and  called her a guy in disguise because  instead of liking makeup, talking  about boys, or gossiping, Catie liked  playing outside, didn’t care if  she got dirty, and playing video  games. Over time Catie tried to dress  more like a girl hoping to make  friends and she discovered her secret  passion for fashion. However it’s  the only ’girly’ thing she likes she  is still a tomboy at heart.

One  day when Catie ran out of school  after a girl ’accidentally’ spilled a  smoothie on her, she ran into Ben  The Cat a former outcast from their  school. After talking and learning  they had similar interests and that  they were both the outcasts of their  school, the two became instant  friends and have been inseparable sense.  Her friendship with Ben lead  to Catie getting teased more by the girls  in her class, but Ben was  always by her side to stick up for her and get  them off her back.

When  Catie was fifth-teen, she got a letter  from her old best friend Abbie,  at first Catie was excited as she always  was to get a letter from her  two best friends, but after reading it her  excitement turned into  concern. Abbie first apologized to Catie for  writing her in awhile, but  Shelby was back in the hospital after getting  attacked, and that  Shelby’s depression was coming back worse then ever  and Abbie was very  afraid for her. After reading this Catie begged her  parents for months  to let her move down to America so she could be with  her friends, but  they always refused saying she was young to move down  there by herself.  Catie’s older brother Patrick who was almost eighteen  at the time, no  longer being able to stand seeing Catie so upset over  her friend,  offered that he would move down there with her and take care  of her.  Patrick was a very mature and responsible and would never let  anything  happen to his younger sister so finally Catie’s parents caved.  Sarah  however stayed in Japan with their parents, but plans to move down  with  her siblings the following year.

Ben took the news hard, but the two left each other on good terms and promised to stay in touch.

Catie’s   life in America was a bit difficult to adjust at first, but with her   friends by her side she quickly found her way and has been happy ever   sense.
