Leto

The child of a desert crafter pirate and her arctic crafter shipmate, Leto grew up in Waveshine. He was an only child, and for the majority of his childhood, his parents were incredibly present and attentive. The three of them were very close. However, as Leto got older, his parents savings from piracy began to wear thin. They started leaving for spans of time to work on ships together, leaving Leto to take care of himself and their home. This suited him well enough, even if it was a bit lonely. At least, until their vessel never came back.

Since then, Leto has secretly been obsessed with the idea that he can use time magic to go back and keep his parents from ever setting foot on that boat. But, naturally, folks don't take well to surly brats trying to mess with the flow of time. So he kept it secret, in the meantime working on developing equipment, engines, gears... And hopefully, ultimately, develop machina to help stabilize and fine tune his magical precision. Eventually he sold his family home and started hopping ships, as his parents before him, helping here and there where he could before finally settling as an apprentice under Rey.
