Profile

An assassin. Nothing more, nothing less. At least that's what she hopes to be. A bit hard to do so, considering the people she's surrounded herself with now.

Personality
For the most part, Ayesha doesn't like to interact with people. At all. She'd much rather hide away, surround herself with nature and curl up with a good book. It's not like she has much she wants to talk about anyway.
Towards her targets, she's respectful, withdrawn, if she must end their lives the very least she could do is be respectful of it.
Around the very small circle of people she would hesitantly call her friends, she tries to engage in a conversation, but often just sits on the sidelines listening to them. On the off chance she's able to get a word in and it's about a topic she's interested in, she's able to talk their ears off.

Story

so the first half is underdeveloped and the second half is. maybe a little story spoilers? i need to restructure the story so whatever, it's under a spoiler tag

Ayesha moved to the Midlands when she was young with her mother, after her father went missing. She grew up relatively happily, somewhat poor, but still happy. Unfortunately, around her teenage years, she somehow got involved with the local triads, in an attempt to fit in with the locals. The jobs were dubious, but they paid well. She enjoyed seeing how happy her mother was, with the extra funds to provide stability in their lives, so she continued. Eventually, the jobs turned to outright murder, and she was in too deep to be able to refuse.

Despite the jobs, she found that her connection to the Underworld opened up a lot of leads for her missing father.

During a job, in the dark of the night, as she dragged the corpse quietly through the bushes, she met a grave digger. Who happened to be in the process of robbing a grave. The grave robber, Scarlett, waved her over, asking if she needed somewhere to get rid of the body, introducing her to a clinic who happily bought them. They eventually start talking, then dating. It lasted for a year, before both of them decided that it wasn't working, and they broke up relatively amicably and drifted apart.

Years pass, Ayesha continues her job of contract killing, and earns the reputation of being one of the few assassins able to take down a Hexed target. She receives a request who, surprisingly, decides to invite her to her office to talk face to face. Clients tend to prefer to remain anonymous, so Ayesha enters this meeting apprehensively.
Etcher, her client, essentially blackmails her into working under her, considering she has the power and influence to get her arrested and killed. Ayesha's target was to be Scarlett Bloom, a circus owner on the outskirts of town. Although Ayesha was initially surprised to see her name, she brushed it off, deciding that she didn't care enough, and agreed without argument.
In their years apart, Scarlett had become a lot stronger. So had Ayesha, to be fair, but Scarlett had since learned a few tricks that even Ayesha wasn't privy to. Her assassination blew into an all out fight, of which Scarlett had the upper hand, and Ayesha ended up losing horribly with a new cut on her arm and a knife in her gut. And despite being so close to scarlett's neck, Ayesha was unable to carry out the final blow, and passed out from their fight.
Because of their shared history, Scarlett respected Ayesha enough not to kill her.

uuuh something something they eventually come to a compromise, ayesha decides that she's fucked actually and just tells scarlett everything, ayesha gets sent back to etcher to tell the news and somehow ends up becoming a mole for both parties (except not really, she scarlett everything but not etcher because she likes scarlett more)

will come back to this when i properly develop it lmao

Magic
Ayesha never thought of herself as someone who was able to use magic. The methods did fascinate her a lot though, and she would often keep a small record of the new tricks she saw, categorising them by type and analysing the exact line of thought a person would go through to cast it. In addition, she'd also think of ways to subvert or negate the magic spell being cast, thinking about the loopholes that could be done so that the magic wouldn't work on her. It helped a lot when she was out in the field, her knowledge and understanding sometimes getting her out of sticky situations.

Although she doesn't think she's able to use magic, she has somehow managed to use it, albeit passively. Her counter spells are often carried out by her instinctively, even if she isn't aware of it herself. Which is why a lot of purely magical attacks don't work on her, and resulted in her receiving a lot of contracts for Hexed targets.

Relationship
Scarlett - ex, aquaintances? frenemies? they sure do have a relationship. The two used to date in the past, but it wasn't too serious and they eventually broke up and drifted apart. Years later, Ayesha received a contract to kill Scarlett, which she failed at due to her sentimentality. Scarlett decided to let her live though, also due to sentimentality. It's a little awkward, to say the least, but Scarlett's willing to overlook it. It was just business after all, nothing personal. Anyways, she's tense around Scarlett but still somewhat relaxed considering that they used to date.
Etcher - Employer, through... not very savoury methods, Ayesha is under the payroll of Etcher now. She's... not very happy with the arrangement entirely, considering it involves a lot of talking and communicating, seeing as she's now become a de facto messenger between two volatile parties. She's very tense around Etcher, barely talking to her despite the other woman's seemingly pleasant demeanour.
Byrd - friendly, neither of them are brave enough to call each other a friend, but Ayesha meets Byrd a lot everytime she comes to report to Etcher. They enjoy being in each other's presence, and occasionally one of them attempts to start a conversation.
Chi - friendly, Chi sticks around when Ayesha comes to report to Scarlett, and Ayesha enjoys listening to her talk
Jade (not suuuper canon but its fun) - friendly, they like to gossip about Scarlett on account of their shared history with her

Other Notes
i made her when AC syndicate came out. i remember this fact very vividly for some reason
