"Why am I not surprised?"

Drue was born to a devil mother and a demon father in a secluded house in the woods. The closest neighbor they had were a human village nearby and they did not see kindly upon demons in general, but in particular devils had a bad reputation. When Drue was still young, his parents were ambushed and killed by the humans, though not before they hid Drue in a small storage space beneath the floorboards. He spend a couple of years in hiding, trying to survive on his own. This proved to be a difficult task for him at such a young age though. Eventually he decided to try his luck and try to blend in with humans in order to maybe find a job so he could get money and be able to trade, as he had a vague knowledge about how that all worked.
As luck would have it, he ran into a rich merchant called Benjamin Palin. Benjamin was a foreigner and worked a lot f nature medicine, which played well to Drue's advantage. Not only could he work with herbs that were familiar to him, but Benjamin being foreign probably meant that he could get away with more than he would be able to with those who had been in the village for a long time. After all, Benjamin wold likely be less familiar with the customs and beliefs and those who had been there for a long time would simple assume that Drue was from the same place as Benjamin. He thought he was rather smart for thinking ahead of such, but alas Benjamin wasn't exactly that easily fooled and soom discovered that Drue was not human. The obvious give-away was his silver eyes, that Drue very unsuccesfully tried to hide by pretending to be blind. Benjamin always knew that was not the case by the way Drue moved around, but he let Drue get comfortable enough around him, realizing that Drue likely had his reasons for being so hesitant around him.
When Benjamin revealed that he knew, Drue was really surprised that he didn't seem to mind Drue's heritage and instead embraced him as new family. Benjamin became an older brother figure for Drue, making sure that Drue was safe from the humans that had taken his parents lives. As Palin's business got bigger, they had plans of travelling away togetherto another place where people likely wouldn't be so hostile of Drue, but alas those plans were set on hold as new business oppertunities and crisises happened left and right. Drue really didn't mind - a move would be expensive and they couldn't really afford such a long travel of all their wares.
When Drue became a late teen, he crushed on Iben, the niece of the local priest. He was very aware that this wasn't something he should indulge in, but she also seemed to be really interested in him and they became carefully closer. A couple of years went, where they got to know each other better and Drue let some of his walls come down. The paranoia he had for humans slowly eased, as he tried to understand their own fears. He obviously didn't agree with killing innocent people like his parents, but he tried to empathize in order to survive and get the most out of his life there. Even though Drue was not planning on courting Iben, someone must have gottent he wrong impression and whispered it onwards to the priest, because on the next of Benjamin's short travels out of town, Drue was found and accused of being a devil. He was alarmed and surprised at this, since he thought he had been very limited and careful about going outside and what information he had slipped out. He had at this point not shared with anyone else than Iben and Benjamin that he could in fact see and that he had silver eyes. It turned out that in fear and shame, Iben had confessed to the loval priest, her uncle, that she had spend time with Drue and had fallen in love with him. On top of that, she had told him that she had seen his silver eyes and seen him walk out towards his parents old burned down house once, whe she had folowed him. Iben was concerned a devil or evil spirit had its grip on him and therein concerned for his safety. Her uncle, knowing Drue's parents, decided to take matter into his own hands and have Drue executed, by burning him on the stake. Drue was at that point practically unable to do magic and had almost no means of defending himself. As he was tied above pyre, looking death in its eyes, a strange, unexpected occurance happened.
dark smoke bellowed from the pyre instead of fire - it dramaticaly and quickly curled along the ground, making the crowd errupt into panic. With wood clearly creaking and crackign beneath him, Drue asusmed that there indeed was a fire going and that he would soon either burn or choke. Yet weirdly enough, the dark, slighly purple smoke was like a deep inhale of hyacinths. Bright rays of light broke the darkness and as they did, thye revealed the now braided wooden throne in front of Drue. Drue stared in disbelief of the overly dramatic entrance, as a tall figure rose from the seat. He was the light came from the two large golden horns on his head, and as the man tilted his head up to look at Drue, he could see his golden eyes slightly glowed. An uncanny large smile stained his face. So twisted and unatural, and yet when paired with the eyes so awfully playful and humored.
He introduced himself as King of Hell, Sin of Pride, Lucifer Diablo Esperanto the 5th - not that the now screaming and scattering human population seemed to be paying a lot of attention. The priest who had attempted to burn Drue tried to get rid of Lucifer, however even fear aside, Lucifer was clearly far too mighty. Lucifer lightly mocked him before knocking him unconcious and turning to Drue. Completely shocked and struggling to take in all this new information, Drue watched Lucifer lift his leg and how the throne of twigs moved and twisted, to become the steps of a stairs.
Lucifer explained that he was looking for a new servant for himself and that out of the kindness of his heat, he decided to offer that to someone who was in trouble. Drue obviously wasn't too trusting of this imtimidating large devil. Lucifer untied him and carefully lifted him down, as he assured Drue that if he wanted to, he could just leave. Awestruck and confused, Drue said something about not benig able to make that decision yet, as Benjamin was away. The thought hit him that Benjamin would probably be in trouble when he came back and as if though Lucifer had read his mind, he offered to also assure Benjamin's safety, if Drue wanted the position. Obviously Drue had head plenty of times that one should be careful when dealing with the devil, but at the same time... he was aware that humans also made up stories out of fear. Kind of panicked at the scene before him, Drue quickly fumbled through a couple of questions, before Lucifer just rolled his eyes and said "You can have absolutely whatever you want as long as it is not a big bother for me. I will try my best to meet your satisfaction, and if that is not possible, you may choose to quit any time~".
Overwhelmed, but determined to protect his brother, Drue accepts the surprise job offer. Perhaps even more surprisingly than anything before, Lucifer kept his word. He took Drue in and made sure that Benjamin was safe, before moving him and his shop another place. To Drue's surprise, Benjamin was already sort of familiar with Lucifer, that is to say, he knew his dead father, Charles Diablo. Benjamin was really sceptical of Lucifer and his character, but reluctantly accepted it as long as he and Drue could see each other often. Due to how long Lucifer planned on living, he offered Drue for the ability to physically age much slower. This actually turned out to work well, when Benjamin really reluctlantly admitted that he actually didn't have a normal human lifespan either.

Drue's time with Lucifer was everything but boring - Drue soon learnt about his complicated family history and what really went on politically in Hell. Drue could see why Lucifer offered so much in turn of his servitude, since the job was tasking. Lucifer struggled with inner demons on top of a lot of people constantly being after him - not that he'd let the former show much, but Drue was perceptive enough to take note of it. A lot of people were not just out for Lucifer, but as Drue spend more and more time by him, Drue also became tangled in or targeted. Lucifer was much less tolerant of this. To Lucifer's surprise, Drue was quite self-sufficient. Though the situations were rather unfamiliar to hi, he was really quick-witted. Most of the situations he was able to hold his own untill Lucifer could help him or until he could help himself fully out the situation. Lucifer seemed to really enjoy these things when it was aimed at himself, finding the attempts funny, but he was genuinely apologetic to times when Drue was pulled into it, even if the both knew Hell was a more tasking environment. Drue suspected that Lucifer was actually usually apologetic, but that he struggled with showing his emotion. Lucifer was... quite emotionally tense, despite how good he was at displaying a careless attitude. Drue's sympathy and curiosity made him able to try understand Lucifer more, even i there seemed to be a lot, Lucifer didn't want to share. One thing was for certain, Lucifer liked to smile a lot, but it was certainly not always genuine.
Despite them growing closer, Drue didn't really expect Lucifer to start falling in love with him. When Lucifer confessed he had feelings for him, Drue wasn't sure what to respond. In truth, he liked Lucifer quite a bit, though to him it was hard to know if that was he real Lucifer. He was honest and explained his worries. If he were to engage romantically with Lucifer, he wanted to see some more ffort on Lucifer being emotionally transparent, for Lucifer not to hide any more secrets to him. Lucifer in turn tried to do so, to better himself at the prospect od Drue perhaps being interested. Though deep down, Lucifer also knew he had to do it for his own health. Slowly but surely, they worked on getting a more comfortable and health dynamic and later started dating. It still had it's ups and downs, as Drue became a more obvious target to those who tried to take Lucifer down. Most annoyingy was Eric, Lucifer's brother. He was hellbent on making Lucifer suffer after Lucifer had banished him from hell and into the Nothingness.
Lucifer had sympathetically and playfully engaged in this game with Eric for years, but once Eric turned his wrath on Drue, Lucifer drew a hard line. For a while, it seemed to almost cool down, enough for Lucifer and Drue to actually decide to get a child, whom Drue carried. Lucifer had explained that his particular species had a history of strange physical and mental aging. Drue certainly didn't mind this, he had seem plenty of strange happenings in his time being with Lucifer. During Drue's pregnancy, Eric made his return however and Lucifer decided he was too big of a danger and threat to his building family and so Lucifer finally did what he had been avoiding for years and killed his brother.
Drue birthed their daughter Amaida. Despite Lucifer's heads up, he expected at least a couple of years of tending to a toddler. But no-, apparenty Amaida would age physically into her late teens within the year. Drue had a few choice words aimed at Lucifer, initially percievin this as him not being fully transparent with him, but Lucifer seemed equally baffled, even though he apologized. Lucifer said he couldn't remember any instance of his kind growing so fast. He almost felt like he had robbed Drue of parenthood and so he tried to figure out how it had come to this.
Surprisingly enough, Lucifer wasn't the only one with strange aging properties in his lineage. It turned out that Drue's demon half might also have had more of a say in that, than either of them had predicted. With some further studying ino the subject, it turned out that Drue had actually aged abnormally slow on his own, even before Lucifer offered to extend his lifespan. Whether that was because Drue's parent's aging process cancelled out each other or it was due to magic in order to make Drue able to live near humans without issues, was hard to tell. Either way, it seemed that their strange mix together, as well as Amaida's own individual want to age alongsideher childhood friend Lyra, caused this rapid aging.
This was admittingly probably what Drue struggled the most with, through all of their years together. The idea that he wouldn't be getting the parenthood he had signed up for was a bit of a personal blow, as family had been a really important virtue to him. However one of Drue's many virtues was his ability to adapt. And so he did. Some kids aged quickly and he had to get over that. Just because he didn't expect it from his species initially, didn't mean that he could then stunt his daughter's growth. Instead he set out to try become the best mom he could, as they speedran raising her.
These days, Drue makes sure to make up for that time by keeping an excellent and tight relationship to his daughter, being there for her whenever she needs him or Lucifer. He's really proud that she usually tries to get a hold of him first, not because he usually knows the answer, but because they are close.

Personality

Drue got used to handling big life-threatening issues at a young age, and it has been a skill he has since needed to use a lot. Between his past with Benjamin and his time with Lucifer, life has thrown a lot at him, but even so, Drue almost never finds himself giving in or giving up. He's hardworking, compassionate and kind; the type of person who tries to help carrying other people's weight, when they struggle. On top of that he is very much an optimist and is often in a good mood, making him great at solving problems or giving advice. While Drue enjoys life with less haste and just relaxing, his life has always been filled with events and so he just takes it all on. Having to find a kidnapped Lucifer? A bit troublesome yes. Being lost in heaven and stalked by a virtue? Doable. Having to find Lucifer's murderous brother trying to take him down? ... Alright, sure.
At this point Drue is ready for anything you fling at him. He's the mom-friend who you can call in the middle of the night, and he will scold you lightly as he goes to bail you out of jail.
