Like Adelaide, Beck doesn't say much about where he came from before moving to Luxi; he will admit, though, that when he came there, he was practically on death's door. It was D-SEC that nursed him back to health and gave him and his older sister a home, and for most of his life growing up, he tried to express his gratitude towards D-SEC and loved everything that they did. When Adelaide joined the army, he also quickly enlisted, and found himself happy and proud to serve the company as best as he could. However, as the years progressed, Beck slowly became more and more aware of the group Freedom, and once he learned more about what they were fighting for, he made the difficult choice to leave everything behind and fight for them, instead. He snuck away one night, leaving only a farewell note to his older sister and would not be seen again for a long while.
Beck lived most of his life being babied by his older sister, but that only pushed him to become independent more quickly so that he could pay her back for taking care of him. Beck is a naturally kind and watchful individual, always alert to the needs of others. As a child, he was embarrassingly quiet and shy, scarcely speaking to even Adelaide for some time. After joining D-SEC and finding a home in the Capital City of Luxi, he was able to relax and open up more, although even today he tends to be more on the reserved side than several of his companions. He has keen senses and a brave heart, making him a great commander on the battlefield; many soldiers, both in D-SEC and in Freedom, look towards him for guidance and comfort.
Beck is one of the main characters in Time of Death that we will see, and is the member of Freedom that tends to hold everyone together, Zeriah aside. His kind heart and sense of responsibility draws in people of all personalities, and it is largely because of him that Freedom's forces can work so well together.
Beck is the one who brings Shire Dynatius to Freedom, and he begins to serve as something of an older-brother figure to her over the course of the story.
Adelaide Adler
[ sister ]
Beck's older sister who has raised him since he can remember. Although Beck left her side, he bears no ill-will towards her, and feels incredibly guilty for hurting her. Even so, his sense of duty comes before all else, and he hopes that one day, she will understand.
Shire Dynatius
[ his charge ]
It was a chance meeting that introduced the two of them, but even upon meeting Shire for the first time, Beck knew she had the potential to be important to Freedom. When she asks him to take her to his group, Beck assumes responsibility over her, and makes it his goal to protect her and make sure she is okay.
Zeriah Temorali
[ his hope ]
It was a conversation with Zeriah that opened Beck's eyes completely to the truth of what was happening on Invidia. Beck follows his every order as best as he can, because he trusts in the world that Zeriah is trying to create.
