Like a candle, we are all extinguished when we grow tired of the light.
Adelaide doesn't talk much about where she and Beck came from; all most people know is that they appeared one day as children, in the heart of Luxi without IDs or citizenship, and were taken in by D-SEC from that day forward. Adelaide has always stuck by Beck's side and helped the two of them build their way up in the Capital City, earning them good lodging and the like while Beck was recovering from an illness for most of his childhood. She proved to have a high aptitude for survival and excels at using all manner of D-SEC weaponry, so she decided to join the military so as to give back the kindness D-SEC had extended to them.
Upon the disappearance of her younger brother, Beck Adler, Adelaide has become withdrawn and her depression has become worse. She has always been fiercely protective of him, as he was her only remaining family and she believed wholly that it was her job to take good care of him. After he left, she has become distraught and obsessed with her own failures and is never sure whether to cling to the hope that she will be able to bring him back or if she should try to move on. When off-duty, she tends to be rather spacey and will sit by herself in various places, writing down poems and thoughts that she has in a small notebook she keeps on her at all times. When on duty, however, she becomes laser-focused, but only in regards to finding any leads about where her brother might be. She doesn't tend to get along with many of her co-workers, mostly because others give her a wide berth, but her compassionate and protective nature towards others is hard to mask.
Adelaide is a recurring character in Time of Death, and is one of the soldiers that works for D-SEC. Because of her top-class survival skills and her aptitude for excellence, she is often sent leading small armies out into the wastes.
While her ultimate goal is to find Beck and take him back from Freedom by force, she also assists in hunting down the runaway Shire Dynatius, and proves to be a difficult obstacle for Freedom to surpass.
Beck Adler
[ brother ]
Adelaide's precious baby brother who used to fight along side her in D-SEC's military. She is very overprotective of him, even as an adult, but now that he's left, she's beginning to wonder if she understood him at all.
Reichard Dynatius
[ superior ]
Adelaide owes both her and Beck's lives to Reichard, as it was ultimately his choice to welcome them into Luxi as citizens. While he is her boss, Adelaide views him with warmth...although she is not above disobeying his orders if she deems it necessary.
Raven Donos
[ shared grievances ]
Although they haven't shared even a conversation by the beginning of the story, the two of them will eventually form a sort of understanding with one another. Adelaide begins to see Raven as someone who can understand her perspective, and she wants to help him in turn.
