Owen Williams

Owen Williams is a rational and observant individual whose mind is always evaluating what he learns. In particular, he takes a great deal of interest in trying to figure out the world he lives in, especially as he has lived through the more complicated sides of it. Although his thoughtful nature can make him come across as cold and distant to others, though, he actually just finds it difficult to express himself properly. In truth, he wants to connect to others, but always feels as though it's not possible and that he needs to keep his own distance because he sees himself as being somewhat untrustworthy. Has a hard time letting go of the answers he's come to himself, and has to actively fight the belief that he's more correct than others.

Like most people on the planet Invidia, Owen was born to a relatively normal family in the city of Sangxi. When he was still rather young, however, his parents were found guilty of a crime - a rare offense in D-SEC's unified world - and were taken away to a correctional facility. Before Owen was able to be fostered to another family, however, Zeriah came upon him and told him that he would keep him safe; a promise that Owen believed in when he was young. Over time traveling with Freedom, however, he came to realize that what they were doing felt wrong to him, and started to think about how to solve things peacefully instead. He hasn't come up with an answer just yet, but is doggedly searching for one.

Owen begins his role in Time of Death as a part of Freedom, but will change sides and support D-SEC partway through the story. He is Drake's eventual love interest.

Owen's significance lies in his determination to challenge Freedom's methodology while also seeking change, like they are. That difference in opinion and individuality of thought, even if flawed, is meant to provoke questions from the audience.
