Personality: Fantine is often cheerful, while also fairly reserved and quiet. She is very hardworking and takes interests in many areas of study. Her biggest interests at school lie in the cultural studies of both monsters and humans, particularly language and writing. Her fascination with humans as well as the dark arts can make other monsters a bit unsettled until they get to know her better, but she’s always excited to teach others about her studies. In her spare time, Fantine loves to read, sew, and create taxidermy, and always carries around books and sewing supplies such as thread, needles, pins, pencils, scissors, and spare buttons in her bag. She would love to start a sewing club at the school to meet with other monsters about her hobbies and is considering becoming a seamstress or going into an acupuncture career after high school. 

Outside of class time, Fantine can usually be found in the library  studying all sorts of old books, in the woods surrounding the school relaxing, sketching or looking for dead animals, or in her room working  on homework, making outfits, or creating new taxidermy horrors. Since she doesn't need to eat, she usually spends her lunch period in one of  these places or will bring her work with her to the cafeteria. She loves  socializing with other monsters, but she doesn't really know how to  start conversations with people that don't end up with them running or  slowly backing away, so she isn't as much of a social butterfly as she  wants to be.

Fantine was created by a necromancer in a ritual gone wrong. However, the necromancer found that unlike most of her undead creations, Fantine had a noticeable sentience, and decided to raise her as her daughter. She taught Fantine all sorts of dark arts magic as well as everything there is to know about death, dying, and reanimation, but also normal, simpler things such as stitching, house work, and gardening. Fantine has a special book her mother gave her that she uses as a notebook, spell book, and sketchbook all-in-one that is enchanted to never run out of pages. 

Fantine's mother is a serious and well-respected business woman dealing in the dark arts and other trades. She has a very exuberant personality and relishes in maintaining the appearance of having a lavish lifestyle, despite coming from more humble roots and only living in a quaint household amongst a dense forest. Fantine loves her mother dearly, though she finds some of her theatric behaviour to be a bit silly and over the top. Some of her mother's less impressive (although still fairly functional) undead experiments were kept to be used as mindless house slaves and take on various jobs including cleaning the floors and dishes, laundering, and disposing of any unused "parts" or failed experiments. Fantine has an odd affinity to these walking corpses, having been brought to life by the similar means (except with rags and thread rather than human remains,) and considers them to be her "brothers." Her mother scolds this affection as they are only reanimated, rotting corpses without any freewill or the capacity to think beyond doing what they're told, but Fantine promptly ignores these regards and has taken to naming them and giving them their own imaginary personalities.
