Egon "Eldritch"'s Links
As Spencer's colleague for many years and eventually his boyfriend, one can assume that Egon has a lot of experience in dealing with Spencer's shenanigans. Egon coined the term "going nuclear" for a way to describe Spencer's meltdowns, but is also one of the people who will go out of their way to calm the inkling down. Though he would never admit it, Egon enjoys Spencer's considerate nature, especially when Spencer goes out of his way to take an interest in Egon's work. He was taken by surprise when Spencer asked him out on a date, and even more surprised when the inkling asked him to make their relationship official, but Egon wouldn't change it for the world.
Spencer is technically Egon’s boss, despite the fact he regards them as equals. He is incredibly proud of Egon and his accomplishments and is the first one to stand up for him when people say otherwise. The pair balance each other out, Spencer trying his best to bring proper routine into Egon’s life, and Egon helping him break free from his routine-driven habits and encouraging him to relax. Spencer knows Egon is an introvert, and will often try to bring him out of his shell, specifically by dragging him along to the diner to hang out with Adachi and the rest of the Banshees.
Realizing he had a crush on Egon was stressful for Spencer, as his forceful nature always landed him with rejection, but much to the inkling’s delight, his co-worker accepted and later on they made their relationship official.
Egon and Shinohara don't get along very well, especially considering the octoling's feelings towards Egon's colleague Spencer. Egon believes Shinohara to be incredibly entitled with no sense of understanding of the outside world, and would much rather avoid him whenever he gets the chance. He has no idea what Adachi sees in Shinohara, but has never been brave enough to ask.
Shinohara and Egon are acquaintances at best, having met only a few times during his infrequent visits to the diner. The octoling would be hard-pressed to remember the urchin’s name, but does not keep his distaste for Egon’s unkempt appearance a secret.
Egon and Maddox work together closely, especially since he's the more quiet one between himself and Spencer. Egon and Maddox spend a lot of time working on projects regarding the Great Zapfish and the underground tunnels around Inkopolis, and often talking about Sigma's hardware. When Sigma used his battery to power a train to get Maddox out of a collapsed tunnel, Egon was the one to outsource and acquire a battery so that Maddox could get his android boyfriend up and running again.
Their lines of work often intersect, and Maddox appreciates Egon as a college on the same wavelength as him. Maddox is thankful for the interest Egon takes in his android partner, and was the first person he turned to when looking to outsource a new battery for Sigma. Both being introverted, the pair do not spend much time together outside of work, but despite that, Maddox would consider Egon a close friend.
The fact Egon speaks octoling is a blessing for Maddox, who’s understanding of the inkling language is rudimentary at best.
Egon and Chester are friends, having met when Egon was admitted to hospital as a teenager and the two were assigned to be roommates. They spent a lot of time making macaroni necklaces together and being put through a mental health plan that neither of them was too keen on. They lost contact for a while when Egon was discharged, but reunited years later when Chester by coincidence started a relationship with Egon's older brother.
Chester met Egon after being admitted to the psych ward and the urchin became his roommate. They bonded over their mutual dislike for being an inpatient, theorizing how they could escape and succeeding at least twice. They lost contact after they were discharged, but were very delighted to find they are now technically brother in laws. They spend a lot of time hanging out with Minerva, and reminiscing about the "good old days".
Dallas's younger brother. Growing up, the duo have always had a competitive relationship, especially since they're both incredibly successful in their respective fields. Egon has always felt the need to prove himself to his older brother, especially since he's always been in Dallas' shadow. Though Egon always feels incredibly insecure and inferior whenever he's around Dallas, the two still manage to maintain a brotherly bond, and Egon knows that Dallas would have his back if he needed it.
As Egon's older brother, Dallas has been known to tease Egon every now and again, delighted by the reaction that he gets. He feels guilty that his successful career has prompted Egon to try and prove himself whenever he gets a chance, but Dallas knows that he doesn't exactly help the behaviour when he riles Egon up. Though he would never admit it, Dallas is incredibly proud of Egon's achievements, and often reads his little brother's scientific papers. He low-key keeps an eye out for Egon, feeling that Egon would never ask for help from Dallas if he needed it.
Egon has respect for people who can shut Spencer up for periods of time without the inkling setting a timer, and Penny is one of them. Knowing each other through interactions at the diner, Egon and Penny aren't particularly close, but have crossed paths from time to time. Penny is just as quiet as Egon is, and the pair can be seen sitting in companionable silence every now and again.
Having met Egon at Adachi's diner, Penny didn't properly recognise who he was until Chester helpfully pointed out that Egon was Dallas's younger brother. Though not really friends with the urchin, Penny finds herself gravitating near him whenever she's at the diner, purely because Egon isn't as loud and obnoxious as the rest of Adachi's crew.
Knowing that SIGMA is one of a kind, Egon has always taken a big interest in the android and how he works. SIGMA's knowledge and durability has proven helpful to Egon time and time again, as the android often comes around to help Egon with dangerous and finicky experiments. With SIGMA's help, Egon has learned how to maintain and repair the android's hardware, and Egon's knowledge in nanotechnology has been quite helpful in allowing SIGMA to run more efficiently.
SIGMA holds concerns for Egon's health and well-being, having noted that the urchin doesn't maintain a proper diet and sleep cycle. However, after being told by Maddox numerous times, SIGMA came to the conclusion that it was better to leave Egon to his own devices unless he was in immediate danger. SIGMA considers Egon a close friend, especially after Egon was able to outsource a battery so that SIGMA could function more efficiently without being charged as often. When Maddox is unavailable, Egon is the first person that SIGMA will go to if he needs assistance with his hardware.
Egon enjoys Beatrice's company, the pair often sitting together at the diner and drinking tea together. He has a small collection of morbid pictures that Beatrice has drawn for him, and puts them on his chemical fridge in his lab.
Though initially skeptical of Egon, Beatrice has accepted him into her harem as one of her favourite boys. She loves him, especially after he willingly committed arson for Spencer (much to Spencer's horror). She likes to brush Egon's hair and draw him weird pictures on napkins.
Egon has known Makoto since college, notably through their mutual friendship with Spencer. He thinks that Makoto can be a bit much sometimes and doesn't necessarily sympathise with the octoling's lovequest. They don't talk much these days, but Egon is happy to see Makoto in the times that he comes to visit Spencer.
Egon and Makoto have known each other since college and met through a mutual friend. Makoto and Egon were intimate a few times, but never enough to start a relationship.
