Profile

Bios

Polite and unassuming, Mia prefers not to show all her cards at once. She’s just a down-to-earth girl from the moon colony. Her ideal life is an existence that passes under most people’s radars where she can’t be singled out for being too loud, too disruptive, or getting in the way of efficiency. All she desires is peace, quiet, and to be recognized as a dependable member of the team. Sadly, she can’t catch a break. Mia works tirelessly towards dreams of mediocrity, pushing past obstacles with perseverance and desperation. Any problem can be solved with enough knowledge and quick thinking, at least that’s what she hopes!

Personality

Mia is a secret kept with deflected questions and short answers. She hopes that she’s uninteresting enough that any potential threats will lose interest before they really get to know her. Oddly enough, she’s most worried about others thinking her actual personality is boring, but she’d rather create a barrier than let someone in and get hurt. Behind those walls lies someone who’s passionate about books, learning, exploration, and storytelling, good or bad. She has a lot more feelings than she’d like to let on, but a life of putting others’ needs before her own has taught her how to hold back. Trust doesn’t come easy to her, so she tends to act in the name of self-preservation, unless it makes her look selfish. Mia is fiercely protective of her reputation. She prides herself in looking smart, even if she’s not always confident in her own abilities. The threat of looking bad can be a source of motivation or a major stressor depending on the situation, sometimes both! Despite that, she’s awkward and she knows it. She’s easily surprised, easily flustered, and has trouble taking any kind of praise without downplaying herself. Any conversation sends her into internal panic from trying not to step on toes or hurt feelings even if she’s annoyed to no end. Most of all, she has a hard time opening up to the few people she actually wants to connect with.

Backstory

Since her mom struggled balancing providing for the family and maintaining her social life, Mia took on the mantle of monitoring her four younger brothers. Between school, responsibilities, and social awkwardness, she didn't have time to make friends. But that was okay; she had fun by herself...if she got time to herself. She ended up joining the Interstellar Forces to provide money for her family while also touring the galaxy. Secretly, she also hoped she'd get her well-deserved alone time. That hasn't worked out yet.

Relationships

Leon - "Ugh... He's not the worst, it's just... ugh..." He seems so insistent on talking to Mia, and she has no idea why. This would be mildly annoying on its own, but unfortunately for her, they're normally paired together for work activities. On top of that, he seems to be the harbinger of bad luck, unintentionally finding new ways to make their team look bad. She doesn't want to hate him. He's nice, even if he talks too much, everyone else finds him likeable, and she knows he's genuinely trying to do his best even though he screws up. Despite being stressed out by his mere presence, she hopes they remain on good terms. It'd be easier for both of them that way. He has similar interests to her, so hopefully that's a start...

Roxie - "Roxie's. Roxie's great. I'm glad I met her." The first friend Mia ever made in the IF. Their initial meeting was a rocky one, Mia found it hard to open up to the ever-persistent stranger, but after getting a glimpse at Roxie's imagination Mia gravitated toward her.  Mia thinks it's nice to have someone around who's interested in the same stories and comics she is, and appreciates Roxie's friendly, bubbly personality. She's amazed by Roxie's ability to weave stories out of thin air and can't get enough of them. Even though she's sure Roxie's just being nice, her compliments make Mia feel special. She makes Mia feel special, and Mia wishes she knew how to express her gratitude.

Jun - "Jun's really interesting. I like them." Mia heard about Jun singlehandedly allowing anyone above the age of 18 join the IF, and couldn't believe that she got to meet them through Roxie. There's a lot Mia could ask Jun about their time undercover, but she feels it might be rude to pry.

Aiden - "He leaves me alone. That's cool." Mia and Aiden don't really talk much. His straightforward nature kinda scares her, but he minds his own business.

Angelo - "He seems like a nice kid, but I don't wanna get involved in his weird situation, whatever it is." Mia and Angelo don't talk too much, and that's okay with her--she already has one Summers bugging her non-stop! He looks sad, and she feels sorry for him, but something about him and his brother doesn't add up. She has triplet brothers, and they don't really have as distinct of an age dynamic as Leon and Angelo do. Are the Summers really twins?

Emil - "He's nice!" Mia thinks Emil is a nice guy who's good at his job. He's very encouraging, and even though the two of them have little in common, she appreciates his efforts to integrate her with the rest of the group. They seem to come from a place of genuinely desiring friendship.

Lorenzo - "I'm glad the captain is taking this as seriously as I am. He seems a lot like me." Mia likes Lorenzo as a captain. He seems to love what he's doing and makes an effort to do it as best as he can. Mia wants to show him that she feels the same way. Even Emil insists that they would get alongg. Unfortunately for Mia due to her partnership with a bumbling rookie, they tend to not leave as good of an impression as she'd like.
