Michelle is a Revue Starlight fan character made to an original setting with a friend. As such, information may change as her story is being worked on. Knowledge about the show is not needed to read this profile.
A good actress can make even a side character captivating. No matter which role I am given, I’ll make sure that all the eyes will be on me!
zgcKgpF.png Michelle is a gifted student in a Parisian theater school, aiming to one day become a world-known stage actress. Excessively serious about her studies, she may not be openly competitive, but she won’t hide her displeasure if someone isn’t taking the work seriously or isn’t putting their best effort when working with her. Outside of classes, however, she’s considerably friendlier and more relaxed, happy to spend her time in the living room with others or even joining their various escapades - after all, as theater students, life is their stage!

Characterized by her passion to perform many different roles, Michelle will put the same amount of effort into any role she plays, regardless of the character’s overall importance. Her ambition and driving force in acting is to outdo herself with every new role, and to shine bright as she gives life to her character. However, she has the unfortunate habit of falling in love with her acting partners, in particular those her role character is romantically involved with.

While initially a little hesitant to join the audition due to its mysterious (if not downright bizarre) existence, she’s fast to take on the challenge when told about the glory that awaits the winner of the auditions. Had she known the risk she’s taking by doing so, perhaps she would not have agreed...

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Dancing is her biggest strength, given her parents are renowned dance instructors.

  • In turn, remembering her lines by heart is one of her major struggles during the practicing stage of the production, and she has to put time and genuine effort into memorizing them. Funnily though she has little to no trouble remembering song lyrics, perhaps thanks to their rhythm.

  • Regardless of her role or the perceived importance of it, she approaches them all with an equal amount of excitement: she wants to be known for her versatility, thus making it important people get to see her full potential in portraying all sorts of characters. She has a lot of pride in her skills and is eager to show them, believing a skilled actress can make even a side character captivating.

  • Good at connecting with her roles & enjoys playing all sorts of different characters, including travesti roles. Some say her persistence to perform wildly different roles (as opposed to aming for mastering certain types for better typecasting from directors’ part) is doing her disservice, but she insist on doing things her way.

  • She may not admit it verbally, but she’s very prideful about her skills. She tends to hold a relaxed appearance to fool people into thinking she isn’t ambitious to a boot. Despite that, she knows how to lose gracefully - if only to save face.

  • Knows three languages, is perfectly fluent in none. Her mother tongue is French, but living in Germany and Britain have ensured she knows both languages to get by. However, she keeps mixing up all three and often remembers words and phrases exclusively in one language but not in the others.

TRIVIA

  • Collects all sorts of little items with cat print on them, although is embarrassed to admit it in the fear others will find her childish for having such a hobby.

  • Tends to make up new words for the ones she can’t remember in the language she’s currently speaking.

  • Even though she loves to play different characters, people often notice she tends to perform the most natural when playing refined leading ladies and right hand men. She’s not necessarily happy about the fact her breech roles fit more of a wingman than a main lead, but enjoys the compliment nevertheless - she certainly has fun in those roles!

  • Loves Takarazuka and has a vast collection of DVDs of their musicals. She has been a fan since she was a child, thanks to her parents who had some old DVDs lying around in their collection.

  • Not much of an anime/manga fan, but loves Rose of Versailles. She discovered it through Takarazuka and got so interested in the original work she has read the manga and watched the anime several times. She remembers more lines from the works than is reasonable and it’s bold considering how bad she is generally at remembering lines.

  • She used to be somewhat scared of creepy stories (true and imagined) but after spending time with her roommate Laurine (who would tell her scary stories every night before bed) she became completely desensitized to the stuff.

  • Revue Starlight spoilers: Michelle joins the auditions unaware that everyone except the winner will lose their shine and radiance, meaning they will no longer feel the passion and drive to become the top star. Think of it as something akin to a burnout, where one becomes unable to enjoy what they previously loved (acting), and can no longer execute their actions regarding it with the same skill and brilliance as before. The shine and brilliance they lose goes to the winner.

PERSONALITY

Michelle has a clear work persona: during classes she’s serious and demanding both of herself and her classmates, expecting full dedication from everyone involved. It’s not unusual to receive a disapproving glare from her if someone is fooling around, but Michelle hardly voices her displeasure: she’s not in the position to do so, and she doesn’t want her reputation suffer by direct confrontation that should be done by the teacher rather than a student.

Although she undoubtedly has her personal honor system and won’t get rid of competition though unfair or dishonest means, Michelle is still highly ambitious and will take any chance she gets to have advantage over others: if you’re not in top condition during auditions or rehearsals, she will make sure to use your disadvantage to shine even brighter herself. Furthermore, she will often take it as a personal insult if someone is competing with her yet is not putting everything they’ve got into the performance. She takes things very personally and to the heart, often struggling to accept criticism even if she might be able to pretend to be just fine.

However, once she’s done with school and training she becomes much more relaxed, not a stranger to joking with the other girls or joining their potential antics - which happens often, considering they’re all theater students with varying degrees of love for the dramatics. Michelle may not be the loudest nor the leader type, but she’s respected greatly by her peers, and her presence is very much welcomed in the shared living room the girls of her hallway have. She loves improvising and using any chance she gets to act and play around, although will do it often in more subtle, less dramatic manner compared to many of her friends and peers.

There is undeniably a proud side to her, but Michelle tries her best to conceal it: she doesn’t want to show others when she feels hurt by failures in particular, and instead tries to put a relaxed front to to protect her own feelings from being further damaged by the comments of others. Michelle is well aware of the competitiveness of her field (to the point she can’t quite get out of the bad habit of thinking the success of others is directly away from her, thus viewing her classmates as her competitors) , but even more aware she is of the fact that openly proud and competitive people don’t usually have friends.

Oddly, due to how intensively she will take her character immersion in acting, she almost always finds herself falling in love with whoever is acting as her character’s romantic partner. Although Michelle uses these feelings to further bring her characters into reality, it would be a lie to state it doesn’t bother her: because of this, she can never tell for sure if what she is feeling are her own feelings, or the feelings of her character. Knowing this, it’s not surprising she has no dating experience in her own life: she’s scared of rushing into a relationship where the feelings aren’t real, which is also why she keeps her feelings towards her acting partners as a secret from them.

HISTORY

Finding herself in the world of acting was inevitable for someone like Michelle: born to French dance instructor parents, she would be actively involved in the world of dance and music, following her parents as they trained numerous actors across the world.

Although born in France, her family moved to Germany when Michelle was five, spending the next four years there until moving on to Britain. Living in both countries taught her much about their languages, but due to spending only a couple of years in each place, she failed to reach true fluency. Instead, she would often confuse and mix up the three languages, trying her best to survive using only one but frequently forced to back herself up with the others.

During her time abroad she would practice dancing under the watchful, strict guidance of her parents, and she attended choir and theater groups on her free time. She was determined to become an actress and worked hard to reach the goal, sacrificing much of the socializing with her peers outside of her hobbies. Although never considered a lone wolf or a recluse, everyone quickly came to learn Michelle was often much too busy with her practice to hang out with them, and the best way to spend time with her was to join her hobbies - namely dancing, music and the hobbyist theater she used to be a part of.

After finishing middle school, Michelle moved back to France on her own to live with her paternal grandparents: she was determined to get accepted into the Parisian theater school of her dreams, concluding it was the place most suited to launch her career one day - given she would first get in, that is. With her skill and pedigree, however, it truly was a surprise to no one when her auditions would lead to her receiving a letter of acceptance. She moved to the school’s dormitory, becoming Laurine’s roommate and friend in the process.

Currently: Third year has started, and with it some new, exciting events: she has gotten close with her classmate Cosette she’s in love with, and has also taken a shy first year Sophie under her wing. Everything seem to be going fine, until Michelle finds herself from a strange theater stage operated by a talking giraffe. And before she even realizes it, she’s taking part of the mysterious “auditions” where stage girls fight each other to become the Top Star, and she has to defeat her own friends in order to reach that goal...
