Tyranny of Dragons


Vaniesa found herself getting much more than she asked for when she found herself tangled in the web of the Dragon Cult. Her interest in dragons proved to be an asset as well as a curse, and her curiosity led to her hatching an egg stolen by the Cult, and now she needed to figure out how to raise a black dragon hatchling while also putting a stop to the Cult's attempts to bring Tiamat to the mortal plane.

Arcane Recovery
Once per day when you finish a short rest, you can choose expended spell slots to recover - up to a combined level of 4, and none of the slots can be 6th level or higher.
Divination Savent
The gold and time you must spend to copy a divination spell into your spellbook is halved.
Portent
When you finish a long rest, roll two d20s and record the numbers rolled. You can replace any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by you or a creature that you can see with one of these foretelling rolls. You must choose to do so before the roll, and you can replace a roll in this way only once per turn. Each roll can only be used once.
Expert Divination
When you cast a divination spell of 2nd level or higher using a spell slot, you regain one expended spell slot. The slot you regain must be of a level lower than the spell you cast and can’t be higher than 5th level.

Lucky
You have 3 luck points per long rest. War Caster

Appearance


Vaniesa has light copper skin, and dark red hair that goes to just past her shoulders. Her eyes are a light green and extremely attentive. She's fairly thin, but not especially muscular. She typically wears a purple tunic and cape, and worn but sturdy boots.

Background


She grew up in Baldur's Gate, raised by priests within the temple of Ioun. She had no memories of her birth parents as she was so young at the time she was left on the steps of the temple. She's always had a thirst for knowledge for as long as she can remember, which the priests who raised her did all they could to fuel. One priest, Adhoc, was the one who primarily cared for her. He was a powerful wizard before he devoted his life to the goddess Ioun. He took notice of her interest in learning and trained her in the ways of being a wizard, teaching her all he knew about every subject under the sky. One topic she took entrancement in was dragons.

It soon became apparent that she had learned all she could under Adhoc's care, and yet she still needed to learn more. The adviser of the bishop, Ontharr Frume, had been carefully watching Vaniesa's progress for many years. Knowing she had progressed as far as she could in Baldur's Gate, he asked her to travel to Greenest in search of rumors of increasing dragon activity. This was a perfect chance for her to further her knowledge in something she cared about, and she excitedly jumped at the opportunity.

Her eyes are a light green and although more tired, they are extremely attentive. She's not as thin as she once once, but she's still slim. She typically wears a purple tunic, and a silver cape that has the appearance of stars underneath. She also wears nice, sturdy boots.

Arcane Recovery
Once per day when you finish a short rest, you can choose expended spell slots to recover - up to a combined level of 4, and none of the slots can be 6th level or higher.
Divination Savent
The gold and time you must spend to copy a divination spell into your spellbook is halved.
Portent
When you finish a long rest, roll two d20s and record the numbers rolled. You can replace any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by you or a creature that you can see with one of these foretelling rolls. You must choose to do so before the roll, and you can replace a roll in this way only once per turn. Each roll can only be used once.
Cantrip Formulas
You have scribed a set of arcane formulas in your spellbook that you can use to formulate a cantrip in your mind. Whenever you finish a long rest and consult those formulas in your spellbook, you can replace one wizard cantrip you know with another cantrip from the wizard spell list.
Expert Divination
When you cast a divination spell of 2nd level or higher using a spell slot, you regain one expended spell slot. The slot you regain must be of a level lower than the spell you cast and can’t be higher than 5th level.
The Third Eye
Once per short rest, you can use your action to choose one of the following benefits, which lasts until you are incapacitated or you take a short or long rest. You gain darkvision out to a range of 60 ft., you can see into the Ethereal Plane within 60 ft. of you, you can read any language, or you can see invisible creatures and objects within 10 ft. of you that are within line of sight.

Trance
You don't need to sleep, but meditate semiconsciously for 4 hours a day. While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Lucky
You have 3 luck points per long rest. Whenever you make an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw (or when an attack roll is made against you), you can spend one to roll an additional d20 and you choose which die to use. War Caster
You have advantage on CON saving throws that you make to maintain your concentration on a spell when you take damage. You can use your reaction to make an opportunity attack to cast a spell that has a casting time of 1 action and targets only that creature.
Spell Sniper (Wizard)
When you cast a spell that requires you to make an attack roll, the spell's range is doubled. Your ranged spell attacks ignore half cover and three-quarters cover. You learn one cantrip that requires an attack roll from your chosen class spell list (INT is your spellcasting ability for it).
Fey Teleportation
Increase your INT or CHA score by 1. You learn to speak, read, and write Sylvan. You learn the misty step spell and once per short rest you can cast it without expending a spell slot. INT is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
Metamagic Adept
Quickened Spell: When you cast a spell that has a casting time of 1 action, you can spend 2 sorcery points to change the casting time to 1 bonus action for this casting.
Twinned Spell: You can spend sorcery points equal to a spell's level (1 for a cantrip) to target a second creature in range with the same spell, as long as the spell at the level it's being cast is incapable of targeting more than one creature.

Appearance


Vaniesa has light copper skin, and dark red hair that goes to her mid-back when in a braid, or just past her waist when down. Her eyes are a light green and although more tired, they are extremely attentive. She's not as thin as she once once, but she's still slim. She typically wears a purple tunic, and a silver cape that has the appearance of stars underneath. She also wears nice, sturdy boots.

Background


She grew up in Baldur's Gate, raised by priests within the temple of Ioun. She had no memories of her birth parents as she was so young at the time she was left on the steps of the temple. She's always had a thirst for knowledge for as long as she can remember, which the priests who raised her did all they could to fuel. One priest, Adhoc, was the one who primarily cared for her. He was a powerful wizard before he devoted his life to the goddess Ioun. He took notice of her interest in learning and trained her in the ways of being a wizard, teaching her all he knew about every subject under the sky. One topic she took entrancement in was dragons.

It soon became apparent that she had learned all she could under Adhoc's care, and yet she still needed to learn more. The adviser of the bishop, Ontharr Frume, had been carefully watching Vaniesa's progress for many years. Knowing she had progressed as far as she could in Baldur's Gate, he asked her to travel to Greenest in search of rumors of increasing dragon activity. This was a perfect chance for her to further her knowledge in something she cared about, and she excitedly jumped at the opportunity.
