Almost immediately after they surfaced, TROPICA took the arcade gaming world by storm - not in the least because of their signature TV head and fashion. A voice synthesizer in their helmet further obscures their identity, making it difficult to discern much about them other than that they were a teenager who frequented arcades around Taipei. The string of high scores on rhythm games they’ve set across these arcades, however, speak for themselves. While TROPICA is notoriously difficult to engage with in person, they were extremely active on several social media avenues, at one point having over a million followers on Twitter.
Nowadays, they seem to have stopped using their own channel; new recordings of their performance are almost purely uploaded by spectators. Their social media presence has also diminished, though when prodded, they still bite back hard. Given that their identity has remained completely confidential, it’s anyone’s guess as to what they’ve been up to.
