Caileb [ex...?]
A boyfriend who happened to disappear around the same time she was hospitalized. She kind of assumed it was because he didn't want to deal with her situation or date a burn victim & got REAL PISSED ABOUT IT. Eventually she finds out from the guy's family that he just straight-up went missing & is presumed dead? Which she feels super shitty about.

But then like 5 years later he shows up again after being enslaved in some absolute bastard's basement, with magically-induced amnesia among other  psychological issues.  She's volunteered to try & help him adjust back to normal life & they're kinda friends again.

Hyaki [big gay crush]
August's FAVORITE customer/patient. A badass who has the lifestyle and ability to go all-out with stress-testing August's more creative prosthetics. Also August might wanna bang her very much.

Yvette [business partner]
Another customer/patient, arguably her most notable one. Yvette's endorsement did a lot to boost August's credibility in the fields of Enchantment & Engineering, considering she's mostly self-taught, and she now gets enough interest in her work that she can do it full time rather than as a hobbyist. They also run a charity together to get prosthetics/other mobility devices built & maintained for people who can't otherwise afford them.

Gale ["Uncle"]
Another client. He lets her stay with him when she's in Belvite to check in on his leg or Hyaki's arm. Still a bit shy about his missing leg, tells people she's his niece who's in town visiting & she's been going with it because why not.

Nolene [Caileb's Mom]
Before Caileb disappeared their relationship was awkward in the way that interacting with a disappointing child's choice of partner tends to be. They really bonded over the grief once Caileb was gone though and August might as well be family at this point.

Laharr ["Surgeon"]
Listen, no legit surgeon is gonna agree to implant a homemade spinal prosthesis. Luckily she has some shady contacts & they hooked her up with Laharr. And she didn't die of a horrible spine infection so SUCCESS. She doesn't currently have any projects that involve invasive procedures, but she's held on to his contact information anyways. They vibe & she thinks they'd be friends if they had more time to actually hang out.

Kawaii pastel aethleticwear??? with hints of bondage. And also lots of tulle & glitter. It's...A Lot.

Q: "What made you so interested in prosthetics? Was it a certain thing or just... whatever?"
A: (IC) "Well I spent a long time in the hospital after that whole....fire....thing. Part of my spine got really fucked up so I had to have prosthetic vertebrae and nerve connections put in, otherwise i wouldn't be able to walk. I learned a lot about it while I was going through it and got to thinking...Maybe I could do it better?"

"Which sounds kinda cocky, I guess, but if you're integrating something into your body, why stop at the bare minimum of mimicking the original function? It's not the same! It'll never be the same as having the original parts, so why not embrace that, you know? And not just visually! Enchantments can do all kinds of things! I've made legs for shapeshifters that change with them, arms that free-float and are controlled telepathically. I added a tail to my spine replacement, which is great because tail but also with the enchantments I have a vertical leap of about 20 feet."

Q: How did August and Caileb's first date go? Does she ever get the nerves to ask Hyaki for a date 👀?
A: (IC) "Me and Caileb weren't really go-on-a-date kinds of people...? We mostly hung out in a group setting. Is sitting down to set up boundaries and safe words and all that considered a date?" She's only half-joking. "...I guess the first legit romantic-couple activity we did together was him inviting me to spend the holidays with his family after he found out I don't really have one? Which was pretty sweet of him, considering we were pretty much just fuck buddies up until then. I thought it'd be more awkward than it was but his mom is really nice and his sister is like, an asshole, but a cool asshole?"
