nothing to see here, just the most GLAMOROUS BIRD ON THIS SIDE OF THE PLANET! jabu is yaaba’s familiar, but by now may have by far excelled her. the two are such fast friends however, they have retained their bond despite catching up in skill. she’s much more gentle than he is, and he time to time has to gear her up into having more confidence in herself and her actions. jabu was inspired by yaaba’s sheer aura, her philosophy, her, oh... everything! what a fantastic muse, she is. it changed his perspective on magic, and he created a new form of competition in the arcane arts: aesthetics. he is the head judge of an annual magic beauty contest, where talented casters from all over the world gather to show off just how pretty they can make things sparkle, shine, whatever, surprise him. he’s quite picky.

despite his human form being ethereally beautiful, he rarely ever shows it off. only the most impressive performance can get him to shed his feathers and stretch his legs. though he acts like it’s purely a gesture of flattery and honor, it is in fact an act of survival — every time he takes human form, he is immediately taken over by intense bloodthirst, that comes from the strain transformation places upon his body. though this can be resolved entirely safely, it’s just inconvenient to keep having to refresh his oversized mason jar with blood every few minutes. so, most of the time, he’s just a little bird!
