Ro is a member of a species of desert-dwelling sapioids who can shift into different animals, her "pack's" or family's being a snake/serpent. As Than of her family, she is granted many liberties befitting of her rank, so when she decided to travel to see the world, no one could stop her- except for Ala, a Than of the Hybasha clan and her rival who followed her across the desert. While travelling Ro met Silver and her group, and though she didn't understand what their purpose was, she decided to travel with them anyway. When not shifted into a snake, she weilds her family's heirloom, a greataxe.
