Flynn is one of those people who's most comfortable when he's on the move, jumping around quickly from place to place, project to project, thought to thought, and feeling to feeling. While this is great for adapting to new situations and getting things done quickly, it does also make him come across as rather disorganized - good luck getting a linear explanation out of him about much of anything.
Still, when it comes down to it, he does do good work; he's got a high level of intelligence, near-flawless memory, and (sometimes unreasonably) high standards for himself that ensure whatever he does, he does to the best of his ability.
Despite the particular kind of upbringing he had, Flynn also shows a good deal of kindness and concern for the needs of others, and he'll rarely, if ever, hold a grudge - he's something of a people-pleaser, really. He also has a kind of unintentional skill for coming across as being fully invested in any discussion or activity he's a part of, no matter how inane it is - this is partly because he's very sharply observant, picking up on even minor details in people or his surroundings.
He can also have a bit of a whimsical, even playful streak in conversation, which can come as a bit of a surprise to some, given his default expression is more on the serious side. It's not that he's inexpressive, per se, it just tends to come in little bursts.
His self esteem isn't where it really should be, and he as such he tends to rely on others for approval and affirmation - always a bit of a risk. He's also not very quick to trust, constantly aware of the possibility that people could be lying to him - which is good in situations where they are, but can make things difficult when they're not. Similarly, he has a habit of keeping information to himself unless directly asked, or if he feels like it's genuinely urgent to share.
Finally, despite being relatively young even compared to others in the Rebellion, Flynn's seen more of the world's bad side than he should have, and it's left him a bit numb to it all. He doesn't necessarily have the 'correct' reaction when something bad happens, not because he doesn't care, but because that's just the way the world is, isn't it?
HISTORY
TL;DR: Born to RLD businessman Allister Whittemore (of those Whittemores, yes) and Alys Twyll; was expected from birth to follow the Whittemore birthright, and was put to studying science basically from the time he could read. Mother taught him to rethink what his father and family were teaching him, mother eventually made an identity change and disappeared, Flynn kept studying and getting more and more uncomfortable until the rebels started throwing their weight around and he took the chance to run away to them. Now going by his mother's surname.
POWERS
- No ability he can exactly control, but due to the activated charcoal in his candy, Flynn's body is essentially infused with activated charcoal. Foreign contaminants like drugs or poison, whether ingested or through the skin, bind to the charcoal and eventually degrade or pass out of his system without doing any damage; unfortunately, useful things like, say, medications, painkillers, or anesthetic also have no effect.

● Flynn's movements tend to be kind of quick, abrupt, and twitchy; it's only when he's working on an experiment that things smooth out and get steadier.
