Tronn Strak is a skilled merc for hire who can’t seem to stop adopting folks in need of a father figure.

Personality

  • He's the type who will go up to a misbehaving kid in public, take the kid from the parent, spank it, and hand it back to them if they don't stop the child from being disruptive.
  • Has a very dry sense of humor that will often fly over people's heads; they may think he's being deadly serious too and just nervously laugh hoping he's not going to kill them.
  • Has two sides: Nice Grandpa and I Will Cut You Grandpa.
  • Likes to give hugs. Will also hug his enemies but in such a way so that he either makes them pass out or cracks their ribs to incapacitate them.
  • Natural Dad Instincts.

History

Tronn is pretty much a biker grandpa who tries to encourage punks to not be like him when he was younger. Tronn led a very reckless youth that cost him at least a limb and an eye before he reformed his ways and tried to be less of a troublemaker/adrenaline junkie and more focused on being part of his clan and a dedicated merc who didn't allow his targets to die while in his custody or be caught by anyone else. Tronn met his wife when they were going after the same bounty, fighting and trying to give each other the slip until they realized it was smarter to work together. So they formed a truce that lasted until they caught the bounty, Tronn surprising Zea when he insisted she take the full pay. It was his way of letting her know he liked her, and he wanted to see her succeed, which she appreciated. She commed him later for another job, and the two began to work together repeatedly until he popped the question right after taking down a particularly hard quarry. Covered in blood and both banged up, Tronn simply looked at Zea and asked "So. You wanna get married or what?" Zea responded with a smack to his face and a passionate kiss as her way of saying yes.

Tronn and Zea had two children together within the first decade of their marriage, but he went out and collected at least a dozen others through the years as he ran into both children and adults in need of some guidance in their messed up lives.

Once most of their kids were grown and had moved on to start their lives or families, the Straks returned to full time mercenary and bounty hunting work. When the call was put out for high-skilled Mandalorians to come to Kamino to train clone troopers as part of the Cuy’val Dar, the couple answered, dipping out of the galaxy for several years. Tronn was more of a fatherly figure to his cadets and treated them all like grandkids while also being tough on them when they needed it. When the cadets got old and big enough to be taller than him, he still proved he could toss them around like ragdolls despite their height and build disparities, keeping their respect. Still keeps in contact with his clone sons, and helps out a few defectors later on so that the GAR and eventually the Empire won't be coming after them.

When he comes across Corvan Gazer, a hapless youth who has recently adopted a boy who has a penchant for stealing, the old man resolves to adopt them both to try to help them out. It is a one-sided adoption as Corvan and the kid did not agree to this. They stay, however, since Tronn offers a place to stay on his ship, along with free food. Tronn is able to get Corvan to open up to him, and it isn’t long until he figures out that the young man was raised by the Death Watch faction. Corvan is unaware of just how bad Death Watch is and continually tells Strak he’s trying to find his family again, that he doesn’t need him acting as a surrogate father, even when the old man notes it might not be a good idea. After circumstances in which Corvan is officially kicked out of his clan, he’s more accepting to seeing the Straks as his family, joining Tronn on jobs and opening up to him little by little about his struggles and past trauma.

After the Old Republic is reformed into the Galactic Empire, quickly made up his mind to work against them rather than for them. He employs himself to people trying to take a jab at the Empire, or those not associated with it. If there's a job involving attacking Imperials and garrisons, he will leap on it at the drop of a hat.

Abilities

Skillset

  • Knows various sorts of martial arts styles
  • Good at multitasking his priorities
  • Adept with a jetpack and combat while flying

Unique Abilities

  • Fast reflexes and excellent agility from his Nagai biology
  • Expert with any sort of weaponry involving blades, especially tehk’la blades; Zea has trained him how to use her Kage electroswords as well
  • Most comfortable with hand-to-hand combat, as well as staying to the shadows and sneaking around to get the jump on an enemy

Relationships

Early Life

  • Met Zea early on in his bounty hunting career; she was there when he got into the accident where he lost his leg and was blinded in his right eye. The two butted heads quite often at first, but they were able to work past their differences to work together on jobs, and eventually start developing romantic feelings for each other.

Ba’Buir Years

  • Met Heln Kadrin, a fellow sergeant, while employed on Kamino; he tried to act as a father figure for the man but Kadrin had none of it. Eventually runs into him again when his unofficially adopted daughter, Zyhlis Umbru, comms Strak for help after Kadrin is grievously injured. He’s able to watch the budding relationship between the two, and encourage it in some ways before letting it grow on its own.
  • Unofficially adopted ex-Jedi Knight Neyet Halor. She acts as a confidante for Tronn with helping him pick up on people's presences and if they're trustworthy, and also tracking down leads as Neyet has secretly built up a network for finding people through somewhat shady means.
  • Was the sergeant in charge of training Alpha-64, “Ridge,” and his brother, Luck. Found Ridge to be a snarky cadet who would shoot off his mouth at his CO’s while holding up a deadpan demeanor, insisting he was in the right. Though Strak dealt with Ridge’s insolence as an upset father would, he also encouraged the man to think for himself instead of following orders and not questioning them if his commanding officer told him to do something that didn’t seem right.
  • Father-in-law to Kira Knight-Strak who is married to Luck.
  • Adoptive father to Corvan.
  • Has had to work with Sa’anya before when pulling a protection job with Corvan and immediately distrusted her. She’s the sort of merc without morals that he believes has no honor.

Trivia

  • He knows someone who needs help when he sees them, and he'll hound them until he wears them down and hauls them in. He has indeed gone after bounties before and wound up adopting them when it turns out that they're misguided youths. Has a few kids/grandkids in prison and will visit them because he still loves them, but also lets them know that they could have been smarter. "smh I taught you better, see you in a month. Your mother sends her love and disappointment." He also put said relatives in prison as it’s a better option than killing them, and it's sort of like a long term timeout in his mind.
  • Has a Gonk droid he uses to store all the information on his plethora of children/grandchildren. Unfortunately Corvan and Kit like to harass the droid (see: knock it over), so the data is somewhat corrupted.
  • Dabbles in cobbling together droids as a hobby of sorts. Has made himself a Nanny Droid for his grandkids; half Super Battle Droid and half Security Droid.
  • Owns an YV-865 Aurore-class Freighter--The Rancor's Nest--that has basically become his and Zea's home. They have at least 2-3 grandkids on the ship at a time since most of the Strak children are involved in bounty hunting or other work that is too delicate to take small children along on. The ship is separated into living compartments and a prison hold for bounties.
  • Likes taking his kids and grandkids on jobs with him so they can get some experience and quality time with their Grandpa.
  • Character Arc Notes: Maybe get over his prejudice of Jedi and Force Users since he had some bad experiences with them after seeing how they treated the troops he trained.
