INFORMATION
Jonathan is no fun, he always covers his ears when I start talking about dissection!

A music major turned a doctor’s apprentice, Cyrus has already given up his plans of becoming a pianist in favor of one day getting his own medical license. While he still attends his gymnasium and studies music, he spends a lot of his free time helping out the local doctor and learning the trade from him. He may not be awfully good at things like maths, but he learns fast by doing things himself and observing his mentor.

Despite what his looks might suggest, Cyrus is a rather boisterous young man who usually solves problems with his fists instead of his brain. He’s physically very active despite his disability limiting what he can and can’t do, and rarely passes an opportunity for adventure or excitement. However, as he comes from a poor family, Cyrus often avoids trouble that could cause financial losses for his family: he doesn't want to be a burden to his already struggling parents.

He’s the classmate of Claude and Jonathan, and starts dating his (then former) rival Sage during his second year.
Appearance

Though surprisingly similar to how he was as a younger teen, Cyrus has since grown in height and his facial features have turned slightly longer and sharper. He has let his hair grow longer but keeps it up on a ponytail as opposed to keeping it open. While his face retains the androgyny of his youth and his frame seems delicate, his body is lean and surprisingly muscular: he has been working out and keeping himself active in spite of his damaged knee.

Cyrus doesn’t carry his cane with him every day, but on bad days uses it for support. He holds his cane with his right hand to give his left knee support and maintain a natural gait.
Personality

Many who meet Cyrus are quick to discover the conflict between his looks and personality: while his overall appearance is quite refined, his personality is loud, easygoing and mischievous. In turn those who do know him often forget Cyrus is rather academically intelligent, as he often does before he thinks and speaks without much filter. It’s often difficult for people to give Cyrus all the credit he deserves, not out of malice but because this contrast often makes people incapable of remembering academic intelligence and absolute idiocy can and do coexist in him.

Though rambunctious and quick to speak his mind, Cyrus has learned to limit himself to some extent now that he’s older: he avoids doing things that could lead to financial losses for his parents, and he has practiced to keep his mouth shut when it really matters. Having been introduced to the higher society by his friend Claude has likewise made Cyrus a little more aware of himself and how people may perceive him, though it isn’t always enough to stop him from doing or saying something reckless or foolish.

Cyrus tends to experience emotions quite strongly, and as such his opinions may often come across the same way. However, he’s surprisingly agreeable and adjustable, and often more than willing to change his own thinking about people or things if he’s been proven wrong. He’s not always the best at reading the room or understanding how others feel and might come off as rude or insensitive, but he really tries his best and hates seeing especially his friends being unhappy. He’s very protective of his friends and would do just about anything to help or defend them.

While Cyrus still remains proud, he has done a lot of mental work to come to terms with his disability and the pity people often show towards him as a result of it. He still despises being looked down upon for it, but has learned to ask and accept help when he may need it and has come to understand people wanting to help him don’t mean bad - even if they might come across as insensitive or tactless about it at times.

History

For his prior history, refer to his main tab's history section!
Still a little unsure of what to do with his life, Cyrus decided to try to apply to the same school as Claude and Jonathan: they offered a music focused special line for students, and with his piano skills Cyrus decided to give it a shot. Even with the intense studying he did for the duration of his last year’s spring, it was still nothing short of a miracle that Cyrus was indeed accepted to the school with a diploma no less.

In the gymnasium students were divided into three houses by random: Sun, Moon and Star. Cyrus was placed in the Star dormitory while Claude and Jonathan were placed in the Moon, but the three continued being good friends and spent a lot of time together. While his studies didn’t really seem to spark the kind of passion in him as he had hoped for, Cyrus continued practicing piano and learning music theory in the same class with Claude.

On his first year Cyrus would fall in love with a girl from the Sun dormitory, but would quickly find himself a rival from his own group: a second year known as Sage was likewise in love with the girl, and the two would quickly get competitive with one another as an attempt to win his crush’s affections. The rivalry between the two was noted to be very intense if not downright ridiculous at times, but they never played dirty and didn’t seem to hate each other - if anything, they respected each other’s unyielding desire to win.

However, during his second year Cyrus and Sage would come to learn the girl was already taken all along, and instead the two rivals had somewhere along the lines fallen in love with each other. They would then begin to date, though most were completely unaware of this: they acted just like any friends would, and they never really did anything explicitly romantic in front of others.

Around this time he became a doctor’s apprentice by accident: he ended up having to do first aid to a friend before he was able to get them to a doctor, and the doctor himself thought of Cyrus’ work to be exceptionally precise for something done so quickly. He decided to test Cyrus by asking him to assist him while he did his work, and it became very clear to him that Cyrus showed both natural promise and a lot already gained knowledge about the medical field. After discussing it with Cyrus and giving him the chance to think about becoming his pupil, he eventually ended up agreeing. Since then it has become clear to him that this is his true calling, but he still stays in his school and studies music to be able to afford staying in the city.

In his last year of gymnasium Cyrus is still dating the now graduated and working Sage. After turning 18 he also becomes the doctor’s official assistant and starts getting paid for helping, but it’s not quite enough to afford living in the city once he has graduated. Claude then proposes to help Cyrus financially, and though scared of accepting the help, Cyrus ends up agreeing to let Claude help in exchange for Cyrus helping him with the occasional chores.
Skills & Abilites

  • Aside from his increasing skill in piano playing, his music focused studies have helped him to develop his ear and he’s gotten quite good at being able to tell corresponding notes to the various sounds he hears.

  • He’s an alright singer, but a little self conscious about his tenor voice.

  • He’s very much aware his cane is meant to be a tool for support above all else, but he’s been practicing to use it as a last resort self defense tool as well.

  • Great upper body strength, Cyrus trains regularly within his limits. He has found that training his knee also makes it slightly less painful to walk with, but understandably even the strong muscles can’t really undo the structural damage of his leg.

  • His already good first aid skills have since advanced thanks to studying under a doctor. While Cyrus struggles with maths, he’s very good at human anatomy and learns well by doing things in practice. Due to his age he still mostly observes his teacher rather than does any work with patients, but he’s perfectly fine with that.

  • Remains as a skilled darts player as well as a general thrower, and if anything has only gotten better with age. He has very good and precise coordination, and his good eyesight further helps him to hit his targets with a high accuracy.

  • Because of Sage’s connections to the demon realm, Cyrus has learned some things that are considered more advanced than the customs of his own time and place, in particular good hand hygiene in relation to health and healing. He has become quite the fussy hand washer since and is very strict about his friends and associates following his example.
Trivia

  • He was able to get into his school through exams that helped cover most of his tuition fees. While he does decently well at school he is by no means the top of his class and doesn’t show any natural talent for piano playing either.

  • In his setting one can become a doctor only with a university level medical license, but anyone can pay the fee to take the test. This means both studying medicine in university and learning under a doctor are perfectly valid ways to study, as long as a certain degree of knowledge is acquired from it to pass.

  • He learned about Sage not being a human a little before they began to officially date. While naturally surprised, Cyrus actually took it really well and didn’t find it to be a problem at all. Since then he has become a little more knowledgeable of the demon realm and its many inhabitants, but since Sage themself can’t enter the realm on their own Cyrus has so far only heard about the place.

  • Despite his claims of hating his lack of facial hair, Cyrus is actually rather glad of it being sparse and slow to grow: he’s just as lazy at taking care of his appearance as ever and knows he’d find it bothersome to both shave daily and grow out properly. The men in his family from his father's side are in a similar situation, so in Cyrus’ case it’s genetic.

  • After he learned to associate notes with real world sounds he had a short phase where he would constantly tell people which note a mundane sound like a bell ringing was. He’s a little embarrassed of his enthusiasm now, but he still likes to challenge himself to figure out the notes. This is very common among music students, and Cyrus is by no means an exception.

  • Similarly to Claude, Cyrus can be tad touchy about his feminine appearance, especially given he has been bullied about his looks in the past. In spite of all this, he's very aware of his looks and has learned to turn the other cheek when people make fun of him, and he actually has a pretty good self confidence towards his features in general - if anything, he's actually rather proud of them.

  • The desire to wear cute clothes and pretty dresses he had in his youth has remained, and now he has a large group of female friends who are very supportive of his experimentations with clothing. While he doesn’t feel comfortable going outside wearing dresses, during their private parties and get-togethers he often does and enjoys it. He’s still not interested in straight up crossdressing though and feels uncomfortable being treated or referred to as a woman.
