Asami was born to a first generation family of immigrants from Japan and lived a fairly average life. At least that's how she saw it at first. It is only in recent years that she saw it as her family's attempt to assimilate as best they could by doing the best the could to become "all-american" from eating certain foods to practicing religion a certain way. While newly converted to Christianity, Asami's parents were quick to become a touch zealous to help their assimilation, leading to all sorts of steps implemented in order to assure their daughter Asami and then Asami's younger Sister Shizuki were viewed positively.  One of these steps was to put Asami in an all-girl's Catholic school and even though they weren't Catholic themselves they saw it as the best move after pulling her from public school. It was in one of these schools when Asami was sixteen that she met the girl who was her first crush and later her first girlfriend.

The two dated in secret for the longest time but Asami, in an act of teenage rebellion and wanting to show up her parents, revealed her relationship and the ensuing results were less than preferred. From the comparatively mundane of the girl breaking up with Asami to the much more pressing fight with her parents. In the argument that went on for hours eventually Asami was disowned by her parents and she herself ran away with nothing to her name. From one shelter to another, constantly moving, and doing anything she needed to both to survive and keep herself sane. Asami became a vagrant wandering around before eventually finding herself in a LGBT shelter in her early twenties. For awhile she thought that is where she might stay until lady luck proved otherwise.

She only happened to find the "Help Wanted" sign on accident and even though it was breaking a few laws for her to be doing said job she soon found herself working in a local lesbian bar. Originally just cleaning the place she soon found herself doing whatever needed to be done. Not just cleaning but serving drinks and even on a few occasions helping run the place. It was with this ability to prove herself that the woman who owned the bar named Jeanne came to Asami with an offer following a family tragedy of her own; an offer to give Asami the bar as well as the apartment built above it. Needless to say Asami accepted. Very few people remember what the bar was named before Asami took over. Instead most know it by the name she gave it following this transfer, an act done to thank the woman that saved Asami, "Jeanne's". While Asami's life has still has some rough patches since then she has found her life slowly getting better and better on an almost daily basis.
